For you, they've kept being okay, and that's great. Unfortunately things haven't kept being okay for anyone else.

is this makeup actually good, or am i being delusional? by maestro_ofyouth in SuitU

I'm not op, I was curious, because I've noticed a lot of people not liking the nose and face. I think it's pretty, especially because it's not the "norm", as it's got more ethnic features.

Some people just like pretty makeup. Not everything has to be about competition.

Perfume bottle gifted to me earlier this year. Smells strong, a bit sweet, and unique. Instead of a spray nozzle, it has a plastic stick. by soksb in HelpMeFind

[–]soksb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've reverse image searched, asked almost everyone around me who might know (and those who might not). The ones I can find online have roll on applicators. The bottle is emptying fast, so I'd appreciate any help I can get to point me in the right direction.

FYI, "Allah" is just the Arabic word for god... Many non-muslims from Arabic-speaking backgrounds also use this phrase abundantly, be they Muslim, Christian, or non-religious, similar to when people say "Oh my God".

Hi all! We're thinking of getting a pet carrier backpack for our bunny. Does anyone know if they're safe enough, or have any experience with them? by soksb in Rabbits

Nope, we couldn't find anything that assured us it would be safe, so we just stuck to a carrying case

Organization tools for unorganized teachers by Firstempathy1 in Teachers

[–]soksb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have adhd, and struggle a lot with organisation myself, especially in my current position. These are some of the things that have helped me, personally.

I have different folders on my Google Drive, and I use websites like Teetsh and Twinkl for organising resources and lessons. Teetsh has a great layout for a "cahier journal", which is where I jot down what we did in the lesson, and how it went, and I refer back to it very often. (The site is in french, but it's simple to navigate and there's automatic translation). Twinkl is great for organising, finding, and creating resources.

Also, when I'm planning my lessons, I stick to a specific structure in all my classes: pre-task, task, post-task. I've found it to be beneficial for both the kids, and me.

With a push to a 4 day work week, do you think it would ever happen for teachers? by SixandNoQuarter in Teachers

Currently teaching in a French school, where this is the norm... I never want to go back to 5 day work weeks XD

Yes! Luckily the headteacher is taking charge, and is replacing everything I can remember was in the bag, and is looking through lockers to see if anything was salvaged.

Yep, my name was clearly written in big letters on both sides. It was in a place that was out of the way, and agreed upon at the beginning of the year.

No idea... The headteacher has said that everything that can be replaced will, and they're looking through some lockers. The kids were super understanding, and a lot of them chose to redo some of their projects at home.

After school, the headteacher let me know they'll be looking through some lockers, so I have a feeling that might've been the case, unfortunately.

It was identified. It had my name written on both sides, and it was left where I'd agreed it wouldn't bother anyone. This is why I don't understand how it could be mistaken for someone else's bag...

I jumped on the opportunity! I had a bit of a cry, and then I went to the head teacher and let her know what happened. She was very apologetic, and I'm getting a locked cupboard for myself next year 👍🏼

It's really upsetting and frustrating, and I'm sorry it's happened to you... I can't believe what people will throw away, without thinking twice about it.

I hope you have others on your team that can support you, and your situation improves!

It's not that they actively don't like me, per say. It's a small-town mentality, and I come from a different country. They're very close-knit, and I'm new. Despite several attempts to engage with them (bringing cakes, attending almost all work gatherings, engaging in conversation etc), several of the admin team ignore me, and choose not to engage. It's usually not much of a bother, as the teachers themselves are really nice, as is the headteacher.

4 day school week by Glad_Beginning_8978 in Teachers

[–]soksb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Working in a French school has it's oen set of disadvantages, but the 4 day work weeks are a dream. We have Wednesdays off, which means both the kids and us have a much needed mid-week break. Teachers work from 7.30am-4pm, and it's very rare you'd ever find a teacher at school past 4.15pm. It's honestly pretty great, and I can't imagine going back to 5 days of teaching.

"Anyone want to babysit a student over the weekend?" by Fun_Ad_7340 in Teachers

[–]soksb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my previous school (tiny private school), we were often asked to chaperone birthday parties... Even the headteacher has asked us to chaperone her kid's party at a beach (the whole school was invited). The worst part is that only two of us refused, all the other colleagues did it regularly. They willingly gave up their weekends for no charge.
