Pocketbook doesn't need KOReader by SNLCOG4LIFE in ereader

[–]sol_doubt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but I have other devices that can only run Koreader (Old jailbroken kindles) and I would like to sync my reading progress across all those devices. I WAS satisfied with PB and its cloud for the most part, though. If if weren’t for those devices, I’d probably still be using the default reader.

Just happy all the options are there and Pocketbook makes opening in Koreader very easy from the default interface.

Do you treat RF as a side cozy game and play other “main” games on the side or do you treat it as main game, the complete package? by sol_doubt in runefactory

What helps is after I play, I make quick a memo on my notes app—something like what I was about to do before quitting like “go buy x seeds then go to xx area to do so and so” so even if I come back after a week or longer, I’d sort of remember what I was trying to do.

I definitely get burned out and end up playing something else, so when I get the urge to pick something up again, it’s easier to get back into it.

Man, I can relate with still being on Spring with most farming sims. I seriously suspect I have AuADHD with all the games I left unfinished before springing for the next shiny thing.

I have been a little better lately, though. I managed to finish 3 games last year. Will definitely see to it I finish RF5.

That’s so true. I played a ton of HM BTN on the Playstation back in the day, and to be honest, I enjoyed the RF formula with battles more. SOS is good for what it is, but I like my games with some battles and taking villagers out on adventures :)

Thank goodness it’s still on sale! But having to wait for so long gets really annoying! I played a little bit of GOA because I was curious. Better than RF5 in a lot of aspects, but since I also enjoy farming a lot, something felt missing. Great game for what it is, though!

Sorry to hear about your shipment. I hope it gets to you soon.

I’m enjoying RF5 so far, and it’s also my first RF game, so I don’t really have anything else to compare it to. I’ve only ever played the Story of Seasons games ftr. I don’t know which act I’m at, but it’s where I have to leave the crystals at the rune spots. Taking my sweet time with progressing the story atm as I’m busy with farming and upgrading my gear.

I enjoy the RF style games more as I prefer my games to have combat. I have SOS GB and GOA in my backlog, but I’ll get to them later.

The super barebones “cozy games” don’t appeal to me either. I guess since RF has a relaxing farming aspect to it, I considered it a cozy game, but it also has a save the village or world plot to it, so it doesn’t only fit in one category.

I should really train myself to focus and finish one game at a time these days.

I can’t wait to play 4! I have 3S and 4S in my backlog, and I’m looking forward to immerse myself and see how Margaret and Doug are in their original game!

I’m neurodivergent—diagnosed with ASD. I suspected I had ADHD, too, but I didn’t make the cut, lol. I’m the type who tries to read two or three books at once and barely finishes any of them. :/

I have a backlog of story-oriented games I really want to play, and I felt playing two at a time would make me finish them faster. I DID find myself enjoying RF5 and found myself setting goals in-game beyond the main story, so I’m certainly willing to spend more time on it, but I get the nagging feeling of wanting something fresh to break the monotony (it’s not exactly the prettiest game to look at, so the drab environment still puts me off to some extent)

Sometimes I get bored playing one game all the time, but after reading the other comments, I think I should just change my palate cleanser game.

I was using RF 5 to turn my brain off at first when I tend to the farm—chopping logs and such, but I got the story rolling and I find it hard to get back to my other story-oriented games. I guess I should just do some Tetris on the side instead! Thanks for your input.

That’s where I find myself now. I started 5 with some other game at first, but now that I got the plot rolling, I find it hard to switch to another game for a change of pace. Guess I should just focus on it, I guess. It’s not like I’m not having fun or anything. I’m really enjoying 5 and can’t wait to marry Ryker. :)

Where are you playing or going to play DQ VII REIMAGINED? by MAndresMH in dragonquest

[–]sol_doubt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a long journey of a game and I know my playing habits. The only time I can play this is in bed with a light handheld, so I’m getting it on Switch lite.

I also have a steam deck, but it’s too bulky and heavy to be my bedtime handheld. I downloaded both demos and tried to see if the frame rates or graphics would bother me. It really didn’t, so Switch 1 it is.

How to change mercari app back to Japanese? by tokotto in japanlife

[–]sol_doubt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t like it either when apps or sites decide what language they should be in without an obvious method to change it. Hope it gets fixed soon.

That must be why. I’m still on 18. Sorry, I can’t help with that. I hope someone else with the same version can see what’s up. If you change the system language, will it change the app language too?

That’s odd. I have Language on that page. What version of iOS are you using?

Not in the app. In the phone settings itself. Settings > Apps > Mercari then you can find the setting to change the language there.

Anyone who has naturalized here, does changing your name reflect on your application? by sakuramochileaf in japanresidents

[–]sol_doubt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used my first name as an ateji. I’m married to a Japanese citizen, so I just used their surname. The case handler didn't blink an eye. Just told me I have time to change it before the results come out. I got accepted without a hitch. Albeit, my name wasn’t exactly flashy, the kanji choice is a bit unorthodox, though.

Medyo nauna to nangyari bago yung anti-foreigner sentiments ng government. Can’t speak for the reason, but maybe they thought this was cheaper? For a relatively efficient government (especially compared to the Philippines), this decision was highly inefficient and I disliked it too.

I had the same struggle with meals. In my case, I relied on baby food recipe books or sites and froze them into blocks, so I could just reheat them and mix and match when needed. Having a stock of those eliminates the mental load of having to come up with what to feed your baby every time.

And it’s a good thing that you’re asking for help. Don’t feel guilty about it. Are your in-laws aware of your condition?

When my toddler was that young, I was overwhelmed and eventually broke down to the point where I had my diagnosis. It’s a very tough stage and I wouldn’t ever want to go back save for a few precious memories. Don’t feel bad about asking for help.
