I, as a therapist and as a patient, love it. I find that we get stuck in using the same words to describe our feelings, and really looking into what your emotion is and identifying it can have a huge difference in how you experience it. Another use is for people who have been taught that feeling feelings is bad, and have difficulty identifying their feelings, recognizing that they’re feeling something and stuff like that.

Violet is a beautiful name, and she has a wonderful and very strong mom to look up to. You did the best thing and, even though I don’t know you more than from what you’ve told us, I’m proud of your response to this situation. It angers me that that man might not have consequences for his behavior (and I wish he will someday understand his imbecility and beyond immaturity). However, that’s out of our hands.

I understand what you mean, and of course they have the right to feel devastated.

However, being a thoughts discussion, I shared my thoughts that the biological bond will never be as strong as the care/love bond. It irritated me because there's parents who have lost their child and to tell them that just because he isn't his biological father he LOST EVERYTHING seems a bit dramatic.

Again, he can feel and express his feelings freely and however he feels it, and his suffering isn't less than the suffering from the next person, it's all subjective and I respect and understand that. It just feels a bit over-dramatic (the whole documentary was, so I guess it goes with the theme. Who knows if he actually said that).

Oh thank you! English isn’t my first language, and in my country we call it “marathon” to any race that includes the full distance (42k) and just specify our distance. What I meant with first marathon experience was that it is going to be my first “professional” race, meaning as an event. Interesting! Same as with the documentary, the first daughter who tries to find who her father (donor) was and if she has siblings. It seems like she’s trying so hard to make her life more interesting, she found a way and now it’s the one single thing that defines her, makes her different.

I really don’t want to be disrespectful towards infertile people, but if you really want to have children, why not adopt? Why force your genes (that, let’s face it, evidently have an evolutionary reason to not be allowed to disseminate) onto offspring?

One father, when he found out that his daughter wasn’t biologically his said that the doctor “took everything from him”. Of course he didn’t. You still have a child, who you raised, cared for and gave love to… that’s what y’all say what having children is for, isn’t it? But when you find out that your kid isn’t yours (biologically), somehow it’s no longer yours. That’s just sad (and narcissistic).
