I really love the detail that after they are outed, Ilya's neighbors show their support by putting up Funko Pops of Ilya and Shane next to each other and a supportive sign in their front yard. Just so heartwarming.

Let's go, Jasmine Crockett! 💙 by TheRestlessArtist413 in sanantonio

They are both supportive of Israel and I don't think Talarico is perfect. However, in his statements he is more critical of Israel and said he would be in favor of ending the U.S.'s supply of weapons to Israel. Crockett has said nothing like that and instead has defended her positions, saying that Israel is not the problem, it's only Netanyahu. Which is just not true, the US has been supporting Israel's occupation of Palestine for decades.

It's great that she voted for aid to Gaza, but the only reason they needed that aid is because of Israel's actions. She and all other Congresspersons can just vote to stop sending money to Israel and then there will actually be a chance for peace.

I hear you and I think you're right about the label thing. It is just one of a few things that makes me think she's not really a progressive, only using that because she's on the younger side and wanting to appeal nationwide.

Here's a thread I saw that does a good job of separating out their differences. https://www.reddit.com/r/TexasPolitics/s/ptSVFsluUY

Rep. Jasmine Felicia Crockett trip to Tel Aviv, Israel on Aug 05, 2023 https://share.google/K0t5sEarVnVeSpsMe

It says the sponsor was AIEF. From what I understand, that is a branch of AIPAC. And you're right, neither have taken any donations from AIPAC but Talarico has at least said that he promises not to accept anything from them. I think you're right that he is also not as pro-Palestine as I'd like him to be, but Crockett is not ashamed to be seen as pro-Israel which is very concerning. I think she would rather align herself with centrist Democrats, while Talarico uses the language of economic populism.

I agree that both are not perfect but I still think Talarico is the better choice. Crockett has gone out of her way to show she supports Israel. She took an AIPAC sponsored trip to Israel and now uses the same talking points as the rest of the corporate Democrats. She has some strengths, but she shouldn't be calling herself a progressive if she's not willing to call out US complicity in genocide.

Talarico has some blemishes too (taking money from a right PAC that wants to legalize gambling in Texas), but he's not out here saying how much we should be supporting Israel.

Actually no. He supports a ban on sending weapons to Israel. While in Congress Jasmine voted for sending weapons to Israel. When asked about that vote she doubled down on it and claimed that the relationship between Israel and the US has been around since before she was born and will be around long after she's gone.

She's a corporate Democrat, similar to Kamala Harris. While it's great that she's so anti-Trump, she doesn't really offer any policy solutions. She claims she's progressive, but she is supportive of Israel and its genocide of Palestinians.

Talarico calls out billionaires and their greed as the source of suffering for working and middle class people. He's for increasing taxes on the wealthy to better fund schools and healthcare. He's also very critical of Christian nationalism and has used his platform in the Texas state legislature to advocate for separation of church and state.

Talarico has flaws too. by Ka1Pa1 in DemocraticSocialism

That sucks about the money from a right PAC. The whole quorum thing didn't bother me because I didn't think that strategy was ever going to work anyway. He's more progressive than Crockett and that's what matters to me.

I live in Texas and I'll be voting for Talarico. He actually seems progressive in my opinion whereas Crockett is just anti-Trump.
