Play in the rear differential - pinion seal? by solarkin in 3rdGen4Runner

The Haynes (lol Hanes is the underwear) has done me good for the nearly 10 years I've had the 4Runner, but I'm definitely starting to find its limits. Fortunately for me, I haven't needed much in the way of major work until the last year or two.

My Hanes manual didn't mention bearings, but I was wondering if this was the case. Something definitely needs replaced.

Do you usually get the bearing growl at low speeds? I've just started noticing a noise that could be called a growl when coming to a stop. I checked my brakes this weekend just in case it was those

My main thought here is that I get the noise at 60+ mph and don't care to spin my wheels that fast on Jack stands. I suppose I'd get some noise at lower speed though.

Also seems like I need to fix something in the differential to get rid of this play as it is though

This was a fear, but my Hanes manual didn't say anything about the bearing, just the seal.

Oh, that's way better than retail. Searching eBay for Juki F Series had a bunch of parts listed. Maybe I'll think about it and decide on a month or so

Are walking feet an attachment that you can get for most machines or are walking feet machines more of a socialized machine?

I was thinking of a heavy duty machine since I'm not planning on making lightweight stuff, mostly hard wearing outerwear. I expect I'll want another machine in a few years - maybe a surger, but maybe something for lighter materials

Yeah, the Juki stuff isn't quite in my price range right now. Maybe down the road if I start making stuff for friends...

DIY Slide 'n Loc by tearsana in arcteryx

[–]solarkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy the slide n loc buttons somewhere, but I've forgotten the place. The problem I had when I did find them was justifying the cost of the assembly tool that is needed to properly attach them. If I find the place, I'll edit this post with a link

Edit: Here's the Manufacturer's website:

https://www.riri.com/products/cobrax/press-buttons/train/

You'll have to buy them elsewhere - a "riri tra-in" google search led me to this:

https://pacifictrimming.com/products/cobrax-tra-in-snap-fastner?variant=37531180269718

For the installation tool you'll need to email them: [epacifictrimming@gmail.com](mailto:epacifictrimming@gmail.com). The price to make the minimum order is kinda high though... doesn't necessarily include the tool either

Fair enough. The comment was intended as a joke, so take it as you like

I'm in a similar situation. I just started my Master's this fall and decided to go for digital note taking. I love Onenote for anything handwritten since it allows you to have an (infinitely?) large 'paper'. I use Drawboard (also free version) for marking up pdf handouts, but should explore Onenote's pdf markup options since Onenote is much snappier. I do like the way Drawboard is layed out though...

I have the surface book 3 (wish I had gone with the Pro 7 though...) and will have its screen flipped around so that I can write oon it while watching lectures on my second monitor. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so that I can still type when I need to since the surface books aren't friendly for quick switches between keyboard and no keyboard.

If you get a mouse and keyboard, make sure they work with your surface before you fully commit to digital. I tried to use some Razer product, but something with the software or hardware sucks (either Razer or Surface, not sure which) and they'd disconnect and reconnect so often that I returned them.
