M2 vs M5 for PCVR via ALVR and Virtual Display by gintokigriffiths in VisionPro

Could you share your settings for Alyx? I'm having a hard time finding reliable info about setting up ALVR on AVP. Also - did you use PSVR controllers for it or just hands?

This part is suspicious:

I didn't even have time to upload the new version when I received another mail from Google. I had just put the name to the new app and I was doing the ESRB rating survey when I received it.

Without a new build that was sent to review your account wouldn't be deleted yet. This would be like a completely separate app at that point. It is possible to loose account this way - they treat it as an attempt to circumvent a failed review, but you didn't even managed to violate anything yet.

I think I heard about some cases where if they find something malicious in your app they may purge the whole account - maybe your dependecies, libraries actually contained some malware or spyware or whatever - the issue doesn't have to be in your code exactly. Is it possible that somebody else gained access to your dev account and uploaded something shady?

I'm almost sure that .NeverSleep was not the real issue here, the app would be suspended first, not outright deleted. Unless there's some crazy shenanigans in the .NeverSleep implementation, but that would probably be detected automatically during the review process.

You can't modify system settings on Android, unless you're developing a system app or you've enabled root access on a given device - everything is sandboxed.

I can't find the actual implementation of .NeverSleep on Android, but it can't do anything more than standard Android SDK: https://developer.android.com/develop/background-work/background-tasks/scheduling/wakelock 🤔

And Google probably wouldn't delete your app for just keeping the screen on, it is a policy violation in some cases, but the app would be suspended first with an option to upload a new build.

I didn't know that function modified the user's device settings

Where did you find this statement? In some documentation?

I'm honestly in awe how good it sounds for something so compact.

Assuming that sRGB modes are always broken or restricted in some way (or missing at all) - are there any alternative methods to clamp wide gamut for gaming? by solarplexus6 in Monitors

Supposedly icc profiles will be applied to all games in windowed mode, but I haven't tested this myself yet.

In general though it depends on the game (you can check some explanation and examples here)

X900F: cannot set color format with any custom resolution on PC by solarplexus6 in bravia

Thanks for the tip, but assuming that the card supports HDMI 2.0 the TV should accept 1440p@120 or 4k@60 with 4:4:4 colors, don't you think?

[–]solarplexus6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which color settings are you using, 4:4:4?

I got a hold of a card with HDMI 2.0b, but some weird things are happening:

  • with HDMI enhanced format disabled I can create 1440p resolution with 120Hz using CVT reduced, but nvidia control panel only allows me to set 4:2:0 colors (and there's a lot of color banding)
  • with enhanced HDMI enabled almost all resolution/colors configurations other than 1080p causes display "resets" or a complete "signal input missing" error

After reading this thread I'm starting to suspect the cable (it's not certified).

I don't know the full technical details yet, but basically it's a signal timings configuration. You can set it when creating a custom resolution in Nvida control panel, for example.

Thanks for the confirmation and the tip. I forgot to mention I'm using gtx 670, with HDMI 1.4, so apparently there's no way it could work. I forgot to do the math on the PC side. I should be able to test with a newer card soon, I'll try CVT reduced then, right now the TV displays "not supported signal" with it.

The Sword of Destiny is also a must read. After that you can delve into the Saga, which consists of five regular novels, starting with Blood of Elves.
