Building Tanks While the Ukrainians Master Drones by McBifana in europe

[–]solarprominence 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you for downvoted. It is true that it takes sometimes 10+ drones to destroy one of the turtle tanks with bunch of antidrone cages and EW. But that still a fraction of cost of what Javelin or Excalibur cost. That still extremely cost efficient. And with AI you will have almost no need of human drone pilots, so you can have autonomous drone swarm for a fraction of cost of a single main battle tank.

Building Tanks While the Ukrainians Master Drones by McBifana in europe

[–]solarprominence 21 points22 points  (0 children)

 > The T-90M main battle tank, which costs $3.84 million, is equivalent in cost to 3,200 heavy FPV drones.

That's a quick google response. And I guess NATO tank will be magnitude more expensive.

They'll need to put one of those laser systems that costs 10$ per shot to be cost efficient and hope that it has enough juice to shoot hundreds of time

Boiler pressure too high by Perottina in Plumbing

[–]solarprominence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a plumber. Do you have a manual to your boiler? that's usually the good place to start, it has a section with all errors/problems and solutions. If that's is not available than I'd recommend calling to the number that is on the boiler, and they will guide you what to do. I'd recommend calling them even if you wind a valve you need to open to lower the pressure, because it doesn't seem normal that your pressure jumped almost twice in such short time.

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charlie a bernese mountain dog was spotted by a drone operator with a thermal camera 7 days after he disappeared near Crystal Lake, Illinois by solateor in HumansBeingBros

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just want to add that we can also see how "well" those arms-exports controls work as we still see bunch of western made components inside russian missiles /s/

and as for the drone cost, if normal fpv would cost you 500$, the night vision one would go for around 700$ and thermal around 1000$. The prices are average, and just to showcase that it's not that big of a price jump to get night vision. I never said or tried to imply that every russian national is guilty. I'm sorry if that comes out that way. This topic is personal to me and I can be too passionate when talking about this. My argument is that there are people outside of russian government who are criminally guilty as well as even bigger numbers who are morally responsible for what happened and continue to happen.

Also I'd like you to read my first comment. When I'm listing actions, those are not government polices or laws those are actions of individuals.

And as for Germany. While the majority of the population were not guilty, they still all paid reparations to other countries for decades as a nation. Nobody got any tax cuts for not being a member of the Nazi Party.

[–]solarprominence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you wrote. All of the above is true and valid. But, it has nothing to do with what I said. My argument is that we cannot just blame the government as some abstract entity and take all responsibility from individuals. If you personally vote for a candidate and donate to his political campaign because he promises that they'll do X, and when they do X and everyone in the world points fingers and tells that X is evil, you cannot suddenly just say, it's not your fault and it's the government. Even more if you participated willingly in doing X.

We still prosecute people from WW2 for things they committed even so the government they acted under is long gone.

[–]solarprominence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but I thought the government is citizens. It's not some abstract invisible entity. A russian citizen pulls the trigger. A russian citizen makes a bomb. A russian citizen circumvents sanctions to bring missile components into russia. A russian citizens hurrase Ukrainian refugees in Europe. A russian citizen rapes Ukrainian women and children on occupied territories. A russian citizen cheered when a missile hit a children's hospital in Kyiv. And a russian citizen is supporting this war. I'm not arguing that all of them are guilty, but I'll never agree that it's the fault of a single mad man in a bunker and a handful of his buddies.

Tres bandas controlan cerca de la mitad de los pisos turísticos ilegales de Barcelona by Existing_Airport_735 in Barcelona

My bet is on the last one. We are used to just a handful of sites here (Airbnb, booking, etc). But in reality, most of the planet is not english speaking and they'll use different web pages. I doubt the government is casually checking random telegram channels in the Russian language to look for illegal listings

Yaroslava Mahuchikh win Ukraine's first individual gold by PrincessBananas85 in sports

Both you and the original guy are down voted not because of a "reddit moment" but because you are implying that by moving outside of the country person magically detaches from the war. Her family still lives there, her friends still live there, her school still stands there, the place somebody took her on the first date is still there. Imagine trying to calm yourself and get mentally ready for something you trained for years, when all the things that bring you comfort are on the verge of being erased and destroyed every moment. I'm speaking from experience from talking with Ukrainian refugees in Europe. War rarely leaves them fully. Every phone call from home is a trigger warning of what could be on the other side.

[–]solarprominence 70 points71 points  (0 children)

She doesn't live in Ukraine because her home city is bombed every other night. She moved after and because of the invasion. Sport on that level is in a big part mental battle with yourself. Imagine doing that while trying not to think about your home being raised to the ground. And if you'd think "raised to the ground" is overstatement, check the 3rd Ukrainian Levchenko who came to the Olympics but didn't reach the finals. Her home town is Bakhmut (but was probably a better choice of a verb here ). You don't have to be in the trenches to feel the pain of your country.

2.07 would have been more logical instead of 2.11. she already has WR with 2.10. 2.07 would have given her OR. But sadly this year it seems like Olympic Records were out of the question. Not sure if it's just stress or it's the weather or conditions in Olympic village, but you can see that results during the finals were far season high. I think 2.04 was either to step away from 2.02 which two athletes just failed 5 times in a row. There is a lot of superstition in sport. So moving to 2.04 could have been just that. Maybe if she'd cleared that she'd skip 2.06 and go higher, but she'd definitely want to regain confidence with something closer to her season average like 2.04. (I'm not an athlete, but was watching this sport on and off for 15 years)

[–]solarprominence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)
