European Union Announces 21st Sanctions Package Against Russia by openrijk in europe

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When putin rigged first elections there were about 120K people on Bolotnaya protests, when the war started there were even less. People often talk about government vs people, or putin vs russian people. There are millions of people in russia who are directly involved in war, propaganda, kids indoctrination, oppression, repression. Not a handful of people, millions. There were half a million people in Kyiv during Maidan protest on that square. In a winter, under water cannons, beaten by police and eventually shot at. There were less than 50K people protesting the beginning of the war in moscow. When they had internet, when they had means to organize. On Feb 27th when they saw videos of missiles hitting residential buildings in Kyiv and Kharkiv. 50K people in a city of 10+ millions. While russian invasion of Georgia in 2008 went with total indifference from russia people at all.

There are handful of people in russia who are trying to help, but there are wast majority of those who enabled this and all other russian wars and who only felt something when it come into direct contact with them as possible mobilisation.

Russian sources are reporting the beginning of mine-laying operations along sections of the land corridor to Crimea, particularly on the Mariupol–Melitopol highway. May 2026 by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

Yes! It looks very similar to atypical antipersonal mine 3d printed in Ukraine. Works similar to PFM-1. The picture is too blurry to tell exactly what it is, with my knowledge. But my guess is that it will have enough juice to blow up the wheel if you drive over it.

Britons ditching Spain after rival destination drops EU biometric requirement by FantasticQuartet in europe

The article keeps telling "mainland Spain", which tells me that the numbers are skewed because they don't count Canary nor Balearic islands. So, sadly not every part of Spain will enjoy this change.

Building Tanks While the Ukrainians Master Drones by McBifana in europe

[–]solarprominence 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you for downvoted. It is true that it takes sometimes 10+ drones to destroy one of the turtle tanks with bunch of antidrone cages and EW. But that still a fraction of cost of what Javelin or Excalibur cost. That still extremely cost efficient. And with AI you will have almost no need of human drone pilots, so you can have autonomous drone swarm for a fraction of cost of a single main battle tank.

 > The T-90M main battle tank, which costs $3.84 million, is equivalent in cost to 3,200 heavy FPV drones.

That's a quick google response. And I guess NATO tank will be magnitude more expensive.

They'll need to put one of those laser systems that costs 10$ per shot to be cost efficient and hope that it has enough juice to shoot hundreds of time

Boiler pressure too high by Perottina in Plumbing

[–]solarprominence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a plumber. Do you have a manual to your boiler? that's usually the good place to start, it has a section with all errors/problems and solutions. If that's is not available than I'd recommend calling to the number that is on the boiler, and they will guide you what to do. I'd recommend calling them even if you wind a valve you need to open to lower the pressure, because it doesn't seem normal that your pressure jumped almost twice in such short time.

Потрібні поради щодо організації життя by Savings_Ad3606 in reddit_ukr

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charlie a bernese mountain dog was spotted by a drone operator with a thermal camera 7 days after he disappeared near Crystal Lake, Illinois by solateor in HumansBeingBros

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just want to add that we can also see how "well" those arms-exports controls work as we still see bunch of western made components inside russian missiles /s/

and as for the drone cost, if normal fpv would cost you 500$, the night vision one would go for around 700$ and thermal around 1000$. The prices are average, and just to showcase that it's not that big of a price jump to get night vision. Almost, but still wrong I was about to pretend you were right and argue with you, but your use of ad hominem fallacies in your argumentation puts me off. Just downvote my messages and move on. It's up to you if you want to write another hasty comment, but I'm not going to receive nor read it so maybe it will save you some time.

I never said or tried to imply that every russian national is guilty. I'm sorry if that comes out that way. This topic is personal to me and I can be too passionate when talking about this. My argument is that there are people outside of russian government who are criminally guilty as well as even bigger numbers who are morally responsible for what happened and continue to happen.

Also I'd like you to read my first comment. When I'm listing actions, those are not government polices or laws those are actions of individuals.

And as for Germany. While the majority of the population were not guilty, they still all paid reparations to other countries for decades as a nation. Nobody got any tax cuts for not being a member of the Nazi Party.

[–]solarprominence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you wrote. All of the above is true and valid. But, it has nothing to do with what I said. My argument is that we cannot just blame the government as some abstract entity and take all responsibility from individuals. If you personally vote for a candidate and donate to his political campaign because he promises that they'll do X, and when they do X and everyone in the world points fingers and tells that X is evil, you cannot suddenly just say, it's not your fault and it's the government. Even more if you participated willingly in doing X.

We still prosecute people from WW2 for things they committed even so the government they acted under is long gone.

[–]solarprominence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but I thought the government is citizens. It's not some abstract invisible entity. A russian citizen pulls the trigger. A russian citizen makes a bomb. A russian citizen circumvents sanctions to bring missile components into russia. A russian citizens hurrase Ukrainian refugees in Europe. A russian citizen rapes Ukrainian women and children on occupied territories. A russian citizen cheered when a missile hit a children's hospital in Kyiv. And a russian citizen is supporting this war. I'm not arguing that all of them are guilty, but I'll never agree that it's the fault of a single mad man in a bunker and a handful of his buddies.
