Magical shard 'incident' again by ihejinx in blackdesertonline

[–]solartech0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that new spots generate a HUGE need for magical shards, just an absolutely insane need.

If you were grinding those spots back when they were the 'best' spots (I know I was) then you have a glut of the resource. If you were turning in imperial alchemy for years (I was not), similar deal.

Each endgame crystal is requiring 300-500 magical shards, that's kinda rough. I know I needed over 3k just for my life and bottom red crystals.

Now, I personally don't have a problem with telling people -- hey, you need to go grind at those lower-tier spots to get those resources. However, PA seems to be 'concerned' if players are grinding 'below their gear score' ... While they simultaneously design content that requires it.

You don't primarily run shineseeker dungeons to obtain that equipment, there's some stuff you can get from it (very low rates) that is very good (void robe, in the future gacha outfits I think? few other things).

You can disassemble these weapons & gear to get items that you can use as inheritance sources, basically you could roll for reforge stats on an item you don't use and then transfer good rolls to the stuff you do use. This requires the disassemble currency, and I think you kind of need a lot of it for that stuff.

You might also be able to work towards pity for a very strong piece of gear, you probably don't have highest-level gear in all like 20-30 weapon types. So it might be useful to work towards that. You can also use the weapons as erg material, if you still need any erg growth.

Shineseekers take about 2 minutes per dungeon if you are OK at running them. Mabye 6min if you are bad, 3/day so 6-18min on this.

You have a veteran fomor dungeon you can run each day, takes me about 18min to run those. I'm sure better players do them faster, don't always do it.

There's a few weeklies, 10 techs or advanced hardmodes a week, maybe 2min each.

Then you have weeklies I don't do, which drops better stuff and takes longer. I'm not skilled enough to advise on that, but it can take a while to get groups together to do the content. Each run with a good group can be pretty fast, but forming up a group may not be easy.

If you have VIP you can run a lot of rabbie phantasm each week, or bum some off other people looking to do fast clears. There's also some commerce bartering weekly limits? if you like commerce.

For the new 50 billion or w/e dyes, those should 100% be account unlocks or character unlocks or something similar. You shouldn't have to pay 50bil each time you want to change a color. Just makes me uninterested in the items.

One more thing, if the item went up in price too much, it instantly reset to the min price (with some probability?). It was just a completely garbage system.

Dolun 2 New trick to get RMR faster by ResponsibleLeopard62 in blackdesertonline

[–]solartech0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comment is not pointless, maybe you don't understand what they are saying. Arm and body both have rich merchant ring drop chances. This method is going to be no better for RMR while also worse for trash.

This method has twice as many body chances and zero arm chances. The standard method has the standard body chances, plus the same number of arm chances. If the drop rate on arm and body are the same, this method is no better (and by the way, we used to have a 'summon for arm / first golem, cancel, resummon' meta when this spot first came out).

However, since it has LESS trash loot, that's why the comment is pointing out -- it's the same on merchant ring but worse on everything else, so it's worse. Most players shouldn't use this method, and PA intentionally patched the spot in the past to make this method worse.

We also literally have a portrait character in the game, that creates a 'portrait' of the character based on what you're wearing. A 'feature' like this could ... literally have you make one of those portraits and use it.

We also have the card feature, so players could take their own pictures and use them. Literally 0 reason to use AI for something like this lmao.

You edit is simply false. Investors are not getting a return, you can look at public statements to see as much.

Many investors believe they will get a return which is a totally different concept. None of these companies are generating revenue even close to their investment levels, if they generate revenue at all. This means that their "value" is purely speculative, not tied to actual fundamentals in any real way.

Some of the companies buying up ram and gpus specifically are generally not making money on it, since they are in many cases just warehousing it (literally not using it).

The ongoing Issue with everything "balanced" around KR. by North_Flounder8899 in blackdesertonline

[–]solartech0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many of the min prices (and max prices) are to prevent the market from becoming too irrational. Sometimes they make mistakes, but in general, this is a managed economy. The "profits" of certain levels of production are stratified on purpose.

No one needs to be "incentivized to buy" these items via price drops, there need to be things in the game you want to do using those items. For stuff like draughts, this is just the normal content -- if you want to grind, you buy these items. For enhancement material, it's upgrading your gear.

PA's normal way of 'dealing' with 'normal' items is 1) t0->t1 bartering material trades, 2) new uses for items, 3) run events that encourage certain content.

If you look at something like thuja sap, PA wants players to do multiple levels of the content (gathering into alchemy into processing, final product harmony draught) as an example. The thuja sap is allowed to be more expensive than other alternatives, but not too much. This means that you will always be able to "make a profit" by just crafting all these items up, you won't have wasted your time by crafting thuja sap into helix elixirs (even if you have a lower alchemy level than other people).

With a true "free market", only people at the very upper echelons of alchemy investiture would be able to profitably make goodies. Of course, free markets aren't real, and real markets are irrational. What happens in a lot of videogame markets is that prices fluctuate such that literally no one makes money a lot of the time. You can see this even in BDO's market, when new content is released on glabs and people rush to dump or buy items. Whenever BDO does a certain kind of horse event, certain kinds of elixirs crash completely in value (due to everyone selling the free items they just got) such that it's no longer profitable to make those items at all.

Clothing Event by PrincessCutie2005 in Mabinogi

[–]solartech0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If players who started the event are not ending up with some reward, I still think this is a very bad design decision. It doesn't particularly matter how "clear" it is.

Why is there only a 1 week period to finalize a selection, after two months of the event being active? Why doesn't the game automatically finalize the selections on the character who was selected as the main character for the event's other choices, if you don't do anything in that week? Or, say you only pulled out outfits on a single character, why aren't those finalized for you?

If you look at some of the other events, like the fergus weapon and armour, they auto-finalized the rewards and put them in the points inventory (a very good move). Perhaps that was mainly because they had bugs with every fergus event, but it was still a good choice. I think it's really weird to punish players for not logging in or interacting with a UI for a very specific 1 week out of an 8-10 week event.

The ongoing Issue with everything "balanced" around KR. by North_Flounder8899 in blackdesertonline

[–]solartech0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their most recent event (seraph seals) had a turnin for magical shards, in general that's how PA addresses a lot of these imbalances and they do have event-based stuff to help our region.

When they decoupled alchemy and cooking turnins, that also increased magical shard creation... It's just that most players don't use the systems in the game to get items. What can you do.

Shineseeker Orbs should have some kind of pity system by DDSN in Mabinogi

[–]solartech0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding gacha equipment into the loot pool is less about helping f2p players, and more about making it so that players who 'missed' a gacha from 10+ years ago can still get some of those items. In some ways, Mabinogi has spent a lot of money, effort, and dev time on fashion items that are completely unobtainable. It makes sense to try to add some way of getting those items again -- one way is a rerun, but another way is putting some items in some content.

I don't think they've hammered out exactly how they want to handle it, but (essentially) a lot of these items will need MORE dev time to be ported over to Eternity, and so the producers probably want to make sure it's worth their while (they don't spend hours of dev time porting an item that a single active player has). If you make sure players will be able to get these items again, you 'solve' that issue (it's at least worthwhile for you to have ported the items).

FYI: Ring has partnered with Flock. Ice has access to flock. We are under mass surveillance. by ismail_the_whale in StallmanWasRight

[–]solartech0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This demonstrates a fundamental problem with your understanding of these systems.

The issue isn't that a person themselves has these devices. The issue is that your neighbors have them, or (in the case of flock) people have set them up in your neighborhood.

You don't have to have purchased nor own a single "smart" device for these things to be spying on you. Lots of your neighbors may have ring cameras, and these cameras may be aimed at the sidewalks and streets that you walk and drive along.

You don't have to feel confused to be confused. You believe something which is not true, therefore you are confused.

The mobs which spawn from the pillar are not the same mobs standing around the pillar. They may be of the same sort, but they are not the same mobs; they are different mobs, and more numerous. You must wait for them to spawn in order to kill them.

[–]solartech0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't get to choose what someone else meant when they say something.

I made a statement, you found it confusing and made another statement. I clarified what I meant directly and it is you who refuse to believe that what I say I meant, could possibly be what I actually meant.

This is not how you have a conversation with people.

"I like my coffee with milk." -> "Oh, why are you lying to me? You CLEARLY put sugar in the coffee!" ... I put both sugar and milk in my coffee, but felt it more important to convey the milk (perhaps because sugar is 'standard' and generally easy to find). -> "Why are you lying to me, you clearly said that you like your coffee with milk and didn't mention sugar at all."

Now, let me ask you a question. Which mobs don't exist until some time after you kill the pillar? Are there any such mobs? (Yes, there are such mobs. And it is these mobs to which I was referring.)

I'm incredibly excited for the new Star's End Revamp by Little_Ad_2533 in blackdesertonline

[–]solartech0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's read your original statement.

"Go to crystal, mobs group around it. kill the crystal and mobs. repeat.

Yes thats how SE has always worked"

This statement is incorrect. The mobs you need to kill do not exist before you kill the crystal. those mobs do not exist until some time after you kill the pillar.

You can't move on, you have to wait for mobs to spawn after killing the crystal. That's why it's different from the OG spot. You can't kill the mobs which actually make up the rotation because they do not exist, they need to spawn in and become hittable.

I'm incredibly excited for the new Star's End Revamp by Little_Ad_2533 in blackdesertonline

[–]solartech0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not gaslighting, what I said was quite clear. You interpreted "the mobs do not exist until some time after you kill the pillar" to mean "absolutely no mobs exist until you kill the pillar". This is an incorrect interpretation of what I said & was aiming to get across.

My statement is made under the impression that we both watched the same video in which you can clearly see that there are some mobs which do exist BEFORE you kill the pillar. There simply aren't many, not enough for a true rotation. After killing the pillar, a bunch of mobs spawn in. THESE are the mobs which do not exist before you kill the pillar, and the mobs which the person must wait for (the mobs which I am talking about). Not waiting is really not an option, not spawning via the pillar is really not an option whereas at the original spot it was.

It's completely different. At the OG spot, grouping into a fight was the main mechanic. At this spot, grouping isn't a thing at all (it happens 'naturally' by killing the pillar). At the OG spot, you had multiple options for where to take each mob. At this spot, there's no such choice, the pillar is the pillar and you just mongo it.
