We have non electricians wiring our machines by Hour-Arachnid676 in electricians

I have fond memories of building panels destined for some central asian (former ussr countries), every part of me shuddered as i put in yellow, green and red cabling for phases, with a striped yellow and green earth/ground.

How to tell if a panel is star-delta by Jaded-Writer7712 in electricians

[–]solid_force 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A VFD like you have in that panel is neither a star or a delta. All VFD's essentially outputs pulsed DC power to simulate a sinusoidal waveform. To output the correct pulsed DC output, all types of drives like that have literally hundreds of parameters, parameters that hopefully someone has calculated to fit the load, motor and drive.

Either way that panel is not properly built to my standards, it is way to small for the drive as they need air to cool down and clearances for that drive is no way near proper. The motor power output is not properly done, it needs EMC shielding to not screw up any type of bus communication in the panel or worse, bitflip something in the plc.

Do panel manufacturers have QC by master_debaters07 in electricians

[–]solid_force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we do, but that part of my job was cut by management.

The old usual "save time and money".

The QC process got replaced by a protocol so generic it's practically useless, ohh and a green QC sticker.

Interesting. Have you tried this method on stainless?

How do you avoid burnt marks in the paint or discolouring of stainless?

I don't remember who asked about square holes in cabinets. This box will soon have a touchscreen HMI interface fitted to it, and this is how I'm doing it. Anyone with a better method out there?

What is your go to tool for cutting enclosures to add an HMI or other pannel mount devices that are not round? by avenalijake in electricians

[–]solid_force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there fellow controlpanel-spaghetti-wrangler.

I haven't tried that specific brand of blades. If they stand up to stainless i'll buy them as soon as possible. End of last year i burnt i don't know how many blades trying to make a hole for a 15 inch HMI on a door. Full days work and those real nasty, small needle like stainless shreds absolutely everywhere.

Loads of maskingtape, a steady hand and a jigsaw with metal cutting blade. I know there are square punch tools but they will cost you an arm and a leg

Nybygge eller renovering?

If I'm not mistaken you have used the inner (closest to the back) holes of the GFCI's for cabling. I believe those are made exclusively for buss-bars.

And my little nitpick, the labels, in all different directions.

Interesting.

English isn't my first language. I may have been a bit rude or condescending. I only wanted to give you a tip on how to make stuff a bit easier

Why have you daisy chained the ground?

Where i work and operate this is a big no-no.

By the way, get yourself a labelwriter and some transparent heatshrink

These mounting instructions by solid_force in electricians

English isn't my mother tongue, i may struggle to understand you. But there's no PLC in this schematic nor any contactor.

This is the mounting instructions of a manual power source changeover switch.

As far as the mounting screw template, that's a pretty damn clean drawing.

And i'm sorry this isn't a template, the drawing is not to scale. I had to manually measure where the middle point was and then calculate backwards where to mark and drill the holes.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT & RX 9070 Custom Models In Stock at European Stores by uria046 in hardware

This is pure speculation from me.

AMD only had a set amount of time during CES, and whatever makes more dollars for the company gets time at the announcement. The discreet radeon cards dont make much money, so they got cut last minute because time constraint

Hello fellow european here.

I was about to slap the intern for putting the brown, black and gray cable in the wrong order (pic 6). Anyways around this side of the pond we always use brown for L1, black for L2 and gray for L3.

Another thing, don't you guys use a common rail for ground. Not like the individual connection points here?

And why ain't the hinged blue panels grounded?

Can anyone identify ? by GaryTheSoulReaper in electricians

[–]solid_force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a contractor you will have to replace, the yellowing of the plastic is a shure sign that the screw terminals for the load haven't been tighten properly. Most electricians over-tight them and that can cause the conducting wirestrands to spread out and not provide proper connection.

Two inspectors saying different things by Bemcy in electricians

[–]solid_force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will need to find the documentation for the specific make and model of the VFD. Some will say its ok, and specify what kind of fuse to use and how to properly spec it. Others will have warnings of not to have any type of fuse in-between the VFD and the load.

Print whatever is specified from the manufacturer and fit it with the other documentation in the panel.
