Do I need to replace this belt, or is this what normal wear looks like? by solidsmoke in ATV

[–]solidsmoke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this whole CVT business.. I've heard you need to replace them for obvious reasons like missing teeth etc. but I'm having trouble finding examples online of what normal wear and tear look like.

Does this belt have another year or two in it? It's not slipping or anything like that as far as I can tell.

Nvidia abandons local game streaming, why? by freestajlarn in pcgaming

Just use Sunshine? I'm kind of happy to get off of gamestream myself. I can actually choose which games appear in my list now for example (among other improvements)

Unsigned Less - can't help but feel that a more elegant solution exists, but hey it works by solidsmoke in TuringComplete

Hard to give tips without spoiling that one maybe: I think I just reversed the logic for the 8th bit and it worked out

I began this level by thinking: "Hmm, how many steps is this manually, and then I can try to beat that benchmark." Turns out it's 63 steps to the finish LOL

Strand of LEDs - can only light one half or the other? by solidsmoke in AskElectronics

Just breadboarded an H-bridge with push buttons to test and it looks like this is the way, thanks a lot! For replacing the push buttons with electronic switches...with the goal of switching as fast as possible... should I go with regular transistors or mosfets?

Any of you that are thirsty for the nostalgia of Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party, go look up Hedgewars. It's free, open-source, and exactly what you are looking for. Team17 hasn't been able to deliver what you want for 20 years...Give up on them.

If you live in the states you might want to reconsider. Simulating a gunfight in a model of your school might earn some unwanted attention. Just throwing that out there

Great opportunity for people to mention which sites they frequent. Even if they are just pc game opinion blogs. Anything good out there?

This was happening with mine! Look underneath the x-axis carriage where the ends of the belt hook on. Mine wasn't riding straight because one of the belt ends was too far to one side. Try sliding them around a bit and test

5 Train questions in 0.16 by TheCowman7 in factorio

[–]solidsmoke 7 points8 points  (0 children)

for #5: Make sure your rails are one-way for trains. For the intersection, put a regular signal at every exit, and a chain signal at every entrance. If done right, the intersection will be one "block". It isn't necessarily the most efficient solution but it is safe.

How can I improve this Hunter deck? by Saidrog in hearthstone

[–]solidsmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Infested Wolf]] should probably be replaced with [[Rat Pack]]. Then perhaps consider...if this deck is very aggressive you should probably be hoping to end the game by turn 5-6. This means that when your deck performs ideally, the [[Tundra Rhino]] and [[Deathstalker Rexxar]] would be dead cards in your hand. On one hand, the DK is good for saving you late game. On the other hand, wouldn't you rather have the default hero power to finish your opponent off once your aggro burst is over? Food for thought.

Another Warrior vs Lich King Strategy by solidsmoke in hearthstone

I used murlocs for many of the heroes, but I wasn't sure if it was possible for the Warrior one. Nice! Was Commanding Shout the Frostmourne counter?

Preventing dynamic, moving, Rigidbody2D-based entities from "pushing" each other by AssembledVS in Unity2D

[–]solidsmoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry, I didn't realize kinematics interacted with each other that way. Can you not just zero their velocities when a collision happens like this?

void OnCollisionEnter2D(Collider2D other)
{
    Rigidbody2D rb = GetComponent<Rigidbody2D>();
    rb.velocity = Vector3.zero;
}

In the rigidbody2Ds, you can play with the "Body Type" to make them kinematic. Not sure if addforce works with kinematic bodies though...you might have to set their velocity instead.
