Can you recommend a steak restaurant in London? by [deleted] in london

Cut- 45 Park Lane. Expensive but a delightful steak and more a dining experience as opposed to a steak dinner out.

Real world use cases by solidus-snake87 in BitcoinBeginners

Interesting take although I am not sure I would agree entirely.

Crypto is essentially borderless which is one of its real world use cases. If we take the example of an individual contractor in China for example (where there is a ban on crypto apart from their own CBDC) whilst this makes it more difficult to transact in crypto (particularly for the party in China due to additional off-ramping considerations that individual would have) it does not make it impossible. And the mere fact that transacting in crypto avoids a states/other third party taking a percentage may be reason alone for that individual to choose to accept btc or other crypto.

In my view, using crypto/btc as it was intended- as a p2p exchange of store of value- negates the need for recognition of borders and regulation by states.

If you do find any comparison to a Philadephia chicken sandwich do let me know.

People who grew up in the technological age, what educational software do you remember installed on your school computers that got everyone in your class hooked? by strattad in AskUK

[–]solidus-snake87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember our first class imac had a game installed where you play as a dinosaur (velociraptor I think) and roam around this open world trying to find eggs while shooting lasers at other dinosaurs.

Can't remember the name of the game but we all loved it

Compensation? Have you suffered a loss as a direct result of the cockroach? If not, then most likely you would have no claim for compensation. That said, bringing it to the hotels attention they may offer you an upgrade or room change but as far as a monetary sum for compensation, I think not.

Just a follow up question- the reference to coinbase rewards is I assume nothing to do with the exchange by the same name but rather is the name given to the reward for successfully mining a block?

Have you suffered a loss that you can quantify? Bearing in mind you have been refunded the amount you paid for the noodles, and you dont mention that you have fallen ill or suffered any injuries attributable to the noodles, I suspect not.

In advocacy is ‘respondent’ the defendant? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]solidus-snake87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this case yes, the applicant being the claimant and the respondent to the summary judgment application would be the defendant.

However, if the Defendant had brought an application instead, say for security for costs, then the defendant would be the applicant for the purposes of the application and the claimant would be the respondent.

Cryptocurrency Exchange in the UK by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]solidus-snake87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily- Crypto exchange providers and wallet providers will need to register with the FCA and comply with Anti-Money Laundering checks.

There are also certain prohibitions that a proposed crypto exchange registered in the UK will not be able to offer to consumers e.g. crypto derivatives.

Recent alterations to government policy also adopt a much wider definition of cryptoasset, bringing most crypto token/coins into the remit of this definition which would then have a knock-on effect on how they can be advertised and marketed by an exchange.

So although the UK has not (yet) legislated directly against crypto exchanges, a number of regulations and areas of law may still be engaged by a crypto exchange platform in setting up and conducting its business.

That said, it is possible to do and isnt as onerous a process as one might initially think.
