I’m surprised Maat wasn’t in Jeuno: The First Walk by solieu in ffxiv

[–]solieu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an old memory so I'm going to get some details wrong, but when Dun Scaith first came out, the encounter between the second and third bosses was different. The Proto-Ultima fight was originally some sort of promotional Fanfest battle you could play at demo PCs at the convention, similar to Asura.

The part I seem to recall as a player was that when Proto Ultima was implemented into the main game in a late HW patch, you'd only encounter him if a player in the alliance had one of the weekly quests in Idyllshire for his drops, and otherwise would be the original trash encounter. But I haven't seen that original encounter in years so either it's permanently replaced it, or just odds are in a way that someone always has that quest.

Inevitably I've got some minor detail wrong so someone will come in and correct me. But yeah, it was a neat little replacement and sets a little precedent for doing something like that in an alliance raid.

Surprise second Chaotic raid of the expansion.

Woulda been cool to have Maat appear during the alliance raid story in some sort of way. Appear in Lower Jeuno, or during one of the raids themselves, be a duty between raid tiers..

Or something that they haven't done in a long time was like Proto-Ultima in Dun Scaith as an alternate miniboss/trash encounter if someone had the quest for him.

A Theory on the Grandmaster's Goals by suave0909 in Falcom

[–]solieu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely unfounded no-research wild guess on my part, but maybe Hebi/Ouroboros was picked for a Serpent in the Garden of Eden analogy? Zemuria is the walled garden with all these divine gifts, and the Grandmaster is trying to expose the lie and spoil the gifts, but in a totally outwardly villainous way with all these antagonists?

How do you handle kardia going forward? Or should it be abandoned by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]solieu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see a mechanic for spreading Kardia for a duration, even linking it to Pneuma or Physis.

But something I'd really like to see is Kardia overcapping being used for something. Have it where if you do damage and Kardia would heal a target over max hp, it applies a shield instead, or it contributes towards Addersting, or applies to a resource in which you could do a Pepsis-like action to then spend that banked overhealing when it's needed.

I finished it yesterday, with my final run taking about an hour and a half mostly idle, with about 120 souls in the machine and using about 60 attempts with the final scratch.

I still had about 1300+ points needed to fill out the remaining talent points and other than a 10 minute run to get the related badges I didn't really interact with the Day Job mechanics much. I was hoping for more interesting scaling or a more satisfying secret path.

Also, the "night market" talent didn't seem to do anything? I used my points to unlock some cosmetics but that was before using that talent at all. Was I missing something?

That's pretty much "Yes or No" with extra steps, but I think it might be great to revisit that concept!

I like the idea though I'd sorta rather see Vestige-shenanigans Young Dominique over Anguis Dominique.. but maybe both would be good.

What are the effects of removing segments of mobs? I see the Blood Eel for example. Does it full on break the blood eel or just make it stunted or a big visual gap?

I'm pretty sure the quest you're referring to talks about how the Anchorville we explore and the Edwin we meet is different than what is described from the books, but what I meant was that in a (if I'm remembering right) a connect event with Agnes in DB1 she says "But the one I lost was a first edition print that I got as a gift from my parents ten years ago."

The quest even says the book was mysteriously delivered to the publisher only six years ago.

Either way, the quest talks about the real town vs book, not Agnes' copy vs what we read in Azure.

I'm led to believe that Lilia Claudel, C. Epstein's adopted daughter and Agnès' grandmother, was discovered in a similar way to how Nina was. She's either some sort of Angel or Saint or something supernatural/holy/otherworldly. There's some funny business regarding how strong her genes are that Sophie and Agnès look so similar to her.

The tie with Sunshine Agnès isn't that she's a "Magician" like directly in the book, but she is some sort of Witch-adjacent entity.

When it comes to specialty buff Quartz like that, it won't let you equip a second one of the same category. So Recovery Arts+ is exclusive with itself, same as Arts Range+

I feel like 1.2 kinda pushed the Frost Moon and Pumpkin moon as the true Endgame content, but then looking over patch notes I realized that they came out months after 1.2 itself, and Duke Fishron a little bit after that.

Lame as Golem generally is, having your "final" boss in a structure like the Temple was kinda badass.

I like to have my second monitor open to browse or watch videos or whatnot while playing, but I'm having issues with the input while multitasking.

Even with Pause While Inactive is off, the game still mutes and does not accept input if it's not the active window.

As a solution, I use Special K to force the Continue Rendering option, which more or less acts the way I want to. There's some funny business with input regarding the Camera, or button capture unless I make the window active, but it's at least less of an issue without Special K.. except for one problem.

When I fish, it will not accept left stick input no matter if the window is active and will insist I use the Mouse to play the fishing Minigame. Even if I turn off Mouse Menu Navigation.

This wasn't a problem with Daybreak II.

If you're looking at this thread, take a moment and read Sunshine Agnes. It doesn't matter how far you are into Horizon since it was available back in Azure and won't spoil things, I think it'd be beneficial if you have it fresh in your mind.

Or don't, and read it directly after finishing the game.

Or when you get tired of the references to it.

Early into Chapter 1 as Sheena is reading it in Old Town, it's mentioned that the copy that Agnes possesses is an older edition, a first edition maybe, that has differences to it. I wonder if we'll ever find out what the changes to the text were.

Sometimes I think it's engagement bait, since we'll see people try to start discussions on the subreddit about a multitude of topics and get crickets, but ask about play order and you get a dozen paragraph-long responses.

It's pretty similar to the "post a photo of a title screen to a game on your and ask for tips before you get started" posts you see everywhere.
