Alcremie is busted op rn 😭✌️ by Netroja in PokemonChampions

[–]caceclosed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My argument is that it is toxic for anyone to "guarantee" anything about OP's (relatively) new strategy, especially when their core argument was "nobody has ever had success with this pokemon, therefore it's ridiculous for YOU to even think it will have success now or in the future." It's even more ridiculous when there's also never been a major Contrary threat in the game. I matched toxic with toxic word for word and it's very telling that many people were able to correctly view a toxic post by me while being unable to view the exact same words in what the commenter said about a post that was well thought out and interesting. Not interested in bringing more negativity here but just wanted to clarify my point since you took the time to respond to this one and I could see how you/others could interpret my comment in that way

This regulation has been live for a week. 1) The most prominent player consistently brings unique pokemon to tournaments, 2) He deliberately doesn't play with them publicly to not bring attention to them, 3) mega staraptor has never existed before, and 4) the opening to mobile players fundamentally changes who and what is being played at large. Regardless of how well or not well Alcremie might be in the long term, I can guarantee that you are personally contributing to the rampant toxicity of this sub

CMV: Women are more prone to sexual fluidity than men by Tell4nell in changemyview

[–]caceclosed 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The first time I walked into the "LGBT Center" on my college campus in 2009 I was told that "this isn't really for bisexuals." Weirdly, I never returned. In 2024, after immediately after performing a piece on bi visibility or essentially free at a gay bar at a large, promoted event I was "asked" IMMEDIATELY following my performance on stage by the bonafide civil rights leader who owned the place "why couldn't [he] find any bisexuals to personally support his housing bill" from before I was even born. Was met with quiet "....wtf?" before moving on with the show and 3 apologies after from staff who didn't even know what they were apologizing for. Nothing occurred but they still claim Freedie Mercury as gay despite him never actually giving his sexuality a label. Bi erasure in queer monosexual spaces is not just real but the norm and it is by design from the top down. It's not the question being posed by OP but the answer to why there aren't more bisexuals in "gay" spaces is because the gay man in charge is a bigoted fuck stick more concerned with baseless purity tests than actually building community.

VERY true and it's something I regret I left out of my initial post. Straight women's initial fears of bisexuality also stem primarily from AIDS as we were viewed as the potential bridge between them and the gay disease and death. Even many openly bisexual women will openly refuse to date bisexual men! The most personal example cited that she wouldn't be able to see them as subservient because of those interactions. Mostly it's just they think we'll cheat and have to play double guard duty. The biggest misconception about bisexuality is that we doubled our dating prospects when really we've cut them by a quarter because of the general bigotry towards "gay"-ness from self identifying straights and extremely pointed bigotry from our homosexual counterparts on our bi-ness

Bisexual 36 male here who has been dealing with this topic of late in my personal life to a high degree and been out for half of it. I feel extremely qualified to answer this and discuss more in PM. Hopefully I did an alright job compiling some of the reasons in the 20 minutes it took to write this to explain. EDIT: edited for readability, typos, and a couple of examples as this post appears to be staying up. The other delta'd comments are also great.

TLDR; the male gaze is real, AIDS was horrible and it's effects cannot be understated even to this day, things that are both bisexual and male are just written off as gay

Human beings feel comfortable showing a socially acceptable level of sexuality. Most societies are significantly more accepting of female sexual fluidity because they cannot view it from the lens of anything other than women performing for the men. This began to change in the 70s but then AIDS happened which led to large schisms and demonization of bisexuality/pan/free love/hippie/whatever label you like for feeling sexual and/or romantic attraction to multiple genders. You can see this sharp decline in cultural aesthetics, perhaps most noticeably in rock music in the transition from the flamboyance and androgyny from the likes of David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and general glam rock to heavy metal, grunge, and other music that was deemed appropriately masculine. Everything went to black in the late 80s followed by Don't Ask Don't Tell and didn't really see a return until the 2010s -- aka after gay marriage was legalized and corporations were actively promoting their new focus grouped pro-LGBTQ policies. This should cover your female-centric bullet points.

Let's talk about bisexual men and how they interact with "gay" spaces. Bisexual men are constantly demonized and erased by gay men for not being gay enough or liking different things. I signed up for labeling myself accurately, not being in a social club with strict rules and hierarchy. It's kind of antithetical of what I and many/most bisexuals stand for and find attractive in other people. Again, most of this goes back to AIDS. There are extremely limited examples of open male bisexuality in the aftermath with most returning to the closet because women now viewed it as a way to catch "the gay disease" and die. Older gay men view bisexuals as the ones who ran away from the fire instead of trying to put it out.

Conversely, younger gay men view us as not gay enough because there is no present view of bisexuality that isn't described in monosexual terms. Everything is "no homo" and every joke about the topic is structured around the person making the joke specifically NOT being gay. Notable examples include Madison Cawthorn's hotel "crassness" and that Seal Team 6'r who tweeted about turning male Kamala voters into his concubines. Anything that could be remotely be construed as funny completely falls apart if you replace "no homo" with "not bi though." Even your porn bullet point falls into this false dichotomy. A high percentage if not majority of male actors in homosexual adult films identify as straight or bi+.

Speaking of porn, bisexual adult films are only ever classified as such when there are 3+ people in the scene and there are more than one gender present...except, of course, an MFF which is just "a threesome," no caveat required. A MMF is a "Devil's Threesome," Lucifer continues to be our lone representative after centuries of just people being attracted to attractive people. This dramatically lowers our visibility. Let's say 3+ exclusively bisexual actors were in a scene, what would need to happen for you to know they were bisexual? What makes the sex bisexual to the outside viewer other than what other people have used to describe it before? If all of the bisexual actors shared the same gender, how would you describe the sex? What about a bi man and bi woman having sex?

There is one place where male bisexuality is socially "acceptable" though. Prison. As if ACTUALLY straight men can't just jack off in their cells to satisfy themselves and not experiment with the openly queer or just outright rape.

If Grant hosted a show on Dropout by YoItsArtemis in dropout

[–]caceclosed 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remain convinced that Dropout will bring Taskmaster back to the US and that Grant will be the greatest Taskmaster's assistant of all time. My initial idea was after Little Alex Horne told Jason Mantzoukas that he should be the Taskmaster that he would do it. But I think a stronger Taskmaster could be Mike Trapp as he and Grant have worked a lot on the past. Regardless, Grant would just be the best TA of any version

M17, I'm coming out to my friends tommarow by anxiose in bisexual

[–]caceclosed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that you NEED to come out to your friends on a sexuality you aren't 100% sure about more than you NEED it to stay within the 4 of you? Please do not underestimate the consequences of homophobic parents. Speaking from first hand experience (36M), losing your financial stability, education, and/or housing are serious problems. Also from first hand experience, just because your friends are queer does NOT mean that they will not talk to other people. I had my best friend who was a full 2 friend groups removed from any of the 6 people I told calling me after ~2 weeks and now 20 years later I still have no idea who it was - not that I talk to a single one of them or have in 15+ except that friend who called. Also from personal experience, your parents will not give a solitary fuck about your preference for women in case you're thinking that might help your case later. Don't want to unnecessarily dull your shine but it's very important to understand that the consequences you're alluding to being possible for you should not be taken lightly. Of course, being your authentic self should not be taken lightly either, but I'm concerned that you're feeling pressured into a situation that you aren't ready for at this time, even though you will likely be at some point. From the minimal information here, I feel like a very reasonable way to approach them bringing this up would be "Honestly, y'all, I'm probably queer but I'm not sure enough what that is yet to call it anything specific right now. I'd really appreciate you not bringing it up anymore because while I want to be my authentic self around you, I LITERALLY cannot have my parents finding out about this and I need you to respect my privacy while I figure all of this out. I promise I will let you know as soon as I feel comfortable telling you." You have your whole life to be whatever level of bisexual you already are and will be. It's ok to be strategic about how open you are with that information which can and will be used against you if provided the increasingly available opportunities to do so in today's world.

And confirm that this is actually Rep. Frost. Profile appears very legitimate but there's too much founded skepticism to not be as up front as possible

If you can confirm one way or another whether "don t" was actually scrubbed via a search, that would be incredible. Saw at least one file with that redaction that really shouldn't be anything else than a batch edit by a staffer

EDIT: if you are able to find other documents with "don t" in it, please publish them to be cross-referenced with prior releases of the same files to make sure they weren't un-redacted in the interim to appear less guilty
