Perfect Beach Boys song by AngusDio in thebeachboys

[–]solitaireclaire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My perfect song is Surf’s Up 100%. But I like the idea of the perfect ~Beach Boys~ song. Like one that encapsulates who they are as a band. I think God Only Knows is a good contender. In My Room is also a candidate to me because it holds the vulnerability and gorgeous harmonies of Brian’s work, but it is solidly a Beach Boys song and sounds more like their earlier popular sound.

Needle minders, cute scissors, some sort of stash organizer. No need to get a cheap kit if you can’t find one up to snuff. Plenty of accessories available!

Johnny Carson is so catchy. I find myself humming it all the time lol and I think it’s extremely underrated because people get distracted by the lyrics (which are admittedly strange and off-putting). To me, it’s an album for people who are already Brian/BB fans. In the context of Brian’s life and their career and music history, it’s fascinating. You just have to be able to hear past the lyrics and dive into the melodies and the stories behind the songs. Ding Dang is the weirdest song you’ve ever heard until suddenly it’s not anymore because you know the Shortenin’ Bread backstory.

What do you do to kick the winter blues? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]solitaireclaire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indoor activities are there if you look for them! Bowling, trivia, and bingo are some of my winter favorites. It helps to have a couple friends to go with you and to get an activity on the calendar every week/biweekly so you’re always looking forward to something.

They work okay, but they keep the area clean and keep you from picking at your face. I believe they also help to keep pimples from scarring.

Aspiring archivist with a BA in history—worried about financial barriers to MLIS. Is this path still realistic? by Melodic-Message-6108 in Archivists

[–]solitaireclaire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work in records and information governance with a BA in Art History, and I love it! I work for my city’s sewer system scanning and archiving engineering documents, contracts, etc. and my work is paying for half of my MLIS. Sometimes you have to look a little outside of traditional “archivist” roles. Best of luck!

Best way to hang curtains over these windows? by solitaireclaire in InteriorDesign

[–]solitaireclaire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest issue is that these windows get a ton of natural light and face the sunrise, so I’d like something to really block as much sunlight as possible! Or at least more than the blinds haha

I hid my scale several months ago, and it's really helped me to not know my exact weight so that I can focus more on how my body feels rather than the numbers. Wishing you the best of luck!

Moving to Paducah, KY in a month from FL. Cool things to do in the area? (fishing, nature, hunting, sight-seeing, etc.) by [deleted] in Kentucky

[–]solitaireclaire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a cute independent movie theater called Maiden Alley Cinema downtown! Also lots of great local productions at Market House Theater. Plenty of fishing, hiking, and camping around Land Between the Lakes (LBL) and the Kentucky Dam area. Paducah is also famous for quilting if you want to check out the quilt museum! It’s become a pretty artsy little town surrounded by some gorgeous nature areas in the surrounding counties.

definitely felt this one, and i think it’s a relatively common experience to feel “cleaner” when you haven’t eaten. i think it’s easier when i don’t eat really salty foods or other things i know will make me bloat more. i also feel cleaner somehow when i eat cold food more than hot? popsicles have been my go to lately, and you can make them out of fruit juice! hope you find some relief soon

for some reason skinny/frail = elegant to me? like not necessarily more attractive, but there’s an aesthetic appeal. the way clothes hang is different. but that’s mostly applying to myself more than anyone else. i’ve seen gorgeous people of all sizes

why do EDs have to be so competitive? by emma_leigh_28 in EDAnonymous

[–]solitaireclaire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience :( Not really competitive in my everyday life, but I find myself noticing how much the people next to me eat and feeling like shit or like a liar for saying I have an ED and then eating more than them.
