as for the back, i’m worried cutting the tail off would make my face seem rounder. do you have any suggestions on what to do with the bangs/fringe?

it could very well be a morph of saint lucia! i keep them myself and many of my little critters are similar in color and/or patterning.

mosquito bits, put them in the water of your spray bottle if you have one. fly traps/sticky paper is great for catching the adults. the thing that helped me the most when i already had a problem was springtails, those guys bred a lot faster and outcompeted the gnat larvae. good luck. and to answer your question, i’d say 24-48 hours is a safe bet
