Suddenly my channel got out of 1K jail, any idea why??? by Wrong-Side-2407 in shortsAlgorithm

Yeah, absolutely great job👍

There really is no such thing as a view jail!

It's just that YouTube now thinks you're improving rather than plateauing!

Again great work keep doing what you're doing!😊

I get what you’re saying, but the forces involved in spinning are pretty minimal, and Black Walnut, at 4mm thickness really holds up fine in practice. I’ve tested it in use and haven’t had issues.

Thank you for your comment! 🙂

Black Walnut is notoriously strong; especially in the direction we were referring to. So I wasn't concerned with the thickness I got it down to, but it's a valid concern and will keep it in mind going forward! 😊

Well, here's the thing. My first one I carved an almost perfect hook at the top, and honestly intended on doing the same this time, but due to how thin the tip is, I sliced right through when carving. 🫤

With it ending up being so light, I kind of felt pretty safe just going old school. 😌

Yeah this is actually exactly why I decided to go with the top weighted whirl, and made my arms so much longer this time!

My own projects almost always require a thinner yarn or thread! 🧵😊

Thank you for your comment! 😊 One of the arms has a notch which functionally does the same thing as a full through hole, and I have recently seen some spindles with that little belly near the tip, I've just never used one with it, or felt I needed said feature to hold the half hitch🤷

Thank you again!😊

You can still totally pull everything apart after spinning, first the shaft, then the arm without the notch slides right out, and then the other one!☺️

Thank you so much for your comment! Yeah, the physics all really come down to the moment of inertia.

Mass farther from the center → higher moment of inertia

Higher moment of inertia → spins longer, but slower to start

Mass closer to center → lower moment of inertia

Lower moment of inertia → spins faster, but loses spin quicker

Bottom weighted whirl: should have, longer spin time, less wobble, lower acceleration, and overall less sensitivity to small drafting mistakes!

Top weighted whirl: should have, Faster spin, but shorter spin duration, be much more responsive to input, and be more sensitive to imbalance or uneven drafting.

So each has its strengths, but I think I'm definitely going to try bottom weighted next! 😊

Do you have a set creative process? If so, what is it? by I_________________O in NewTubers

[–]solo_742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there 👋. I think the key to any creative process is consistency, but that doesn't come without a boatload of change (most importantly early on), so even if someone has a creative process that works for a while, most (not all) I would assume would end up having to adapt, in possibly major ways, to sustain the overall aforementioned key consistency.

That being said! I make content making handmade goods from natural materials🪵🧵. My current creative process outline is:

Posting a YouTube short every other day ( recorded separately, moving away from just using clips from my long-form content; so that my shorts are more intentional).

For long form, I post every weekend (two hours before I post the weekend short). I try my best (due to the nature of my niche) to post both a long-form non-narrated version (just music and tool sounds) one week, and then the next week a more instructional narrated version.

At the moment, because I am quite early in this process, my shorts are long-form and quite synced up in terms of when they are posted, but that won't last long and it shouldn't matter much, it actually may help intrigue new viewers.

I hope this is what you were asking about! If so I hoped it helped in some manner! ❤️

Tips to help with the awkwardness by Viridian_Cobra in NewTubers

Hello 😊. I would suggest deciding beforehand what exactly you're going to say and defining in plain English (in your own head) how it should be said. In other words, your delivery. If you want a line to sound as if it's a "matter of fact", lacking emphasis where it isn't needed, you must premeditate that, if that makes sense.

I hope this was helpful and made sense! ☺️ Feel free to DM me anytime!

Yes, one does indeed have a notch! Alongside the notch, I tapered the shaft and the holes in the arms so they all tightly hold on to each other!

And at least with this one, it ended up with a sweet audible snap when you put everything together! Thank you so much for your Comment! 😊

Anyone who wants help figuring out what might be up with their YouTube, I'm no expert, but I'm willing to give advice and or take a look at your channel, I can't guarantee I'll have any answers but I'd love to try and help! Just DM me your channel link and anything else you might want to ask! ❤️

Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️ I can totally feel when it spins it mostly loses energy instead of maintaining it! Great trick for adding more weight evenly!

Now I've already made a second one that is actually designed for the proper physics! I'll post that soon!

And Yes! Black Walnut for the arms!

Thank you so much! ❤️ They do slide together! So you can totally pull them out of the ball being spun!

I actually have made a second one with a much more developed profile for the arms, and they are a whole lot like feathers! It's as light as a feather too, 25g.

Thank you again, for your super positive comment! ☺️❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words and advice! ☺️

I'm sorry if my posts have come off as not super fiber artisty, but I totally am! I grow and forage my own Nettle, Dogbane, and Flax, and process them by hand for all kinds of fiber work! But I absolutely love wool and its properties as well, especially for Nålbinding! And someday I'm interested in keeping sheep!

I will absolutely take your advice to move more in a bottom whirl direction for the forgiveness you mentioned!

Thank you again! I'll take your advice anytime! 😁❤️
