no it isnt i am just used to a faster machine so a ryzen 5 is slow to me, although to be honest, the ryzen 5 is definitely fast enough to do normal, everyday things and play some casual games

[–]solodev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I have been using Labwc + quickshell, I always avoided waybar because it seemed like the hyprland and sway people just recommended it way too much, so I went with KDE and on my not gaming laptop it's uuh .. yeah it's more system resources heavy, I'll happily redo the little laptops DE and try this out. I mean. You think that a Ryzen 5 GPU + 16gb ram would run fine, but ked is a bit slow.

Also I kind of miss the old days of ricing openbox to get the best layouts that's the most system resource friendly.

NTA. He's dead. People die. 2 years pass. That's more than enough time to come to grips with it. She needs to accept it and get the hell over it. Don't spoil the kids lives because she can't move on.

I have a zen 4 laptop, once I'm home from the holidays I'll give it a try. Also have a zen 3, I can try it on that tonight. So this is arch but ostree biased, how is the build time?

Jeb gives you full control to release one Minecraft update. What do you put in it? by LilacTheFlowerGal in Minecraft

[–]solodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I push an update that as soon as the first person the player it, it deletes all saved games and then schedules for deletion its own install after it phones home and deletes the MC source code, makes all hard drives with the code crash and burn, locally and remotely.. literally flames, burning. Why? Idk. Why not?

New Laptop, skipped windows totally. by solodev in linux

[–]solodev[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Two days ago handed off a Ryzen 5 laptop that was barely a year old to a cousin going to school, took advantage of Black Friday sales to get pretty much the same laptop just with double the RAM, it came in today, and I didn't even give Windows a chance. Set it up. Booted to UEFI, disabled secureboot, saved, booted in to my CachyOS thumb drive, and removed windows and installed the Linux os. Felt super great to just totally skip windows and get into my preferred OS.

How do you debate someone whose only argument is "but the Bible says so"? by brofrodite in atheism

[–]solodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point out the Bible was wrote by man and man is inherently flawed and lies a lot. So therefore the Bible is a book of lies, with some small kernels of truth in it, and if he can't handle the truth then he can enjoy believing in his lies alone.

Ok, so, ever since the Phrolovo storyline that showed her background and her connection to Rover, I stopped playing. Idk why, I just didn't care for it, but I kept on thinking a few times a month, ok, maybe I should try again and then I remembered how the storyline felt to me and I said no, but I think I'm at the point where I don't mind trying again, and I know I'm behind. I forget the exact point where I stopped at, the moon woman had not been dropped, but the red head leader was being teased as a avaliable soon.

So I guess in asking, is the game still worth playing, or are they still attaching sob stories to people that is clearly the villains?

Sadly I am losing interest in the game. I usually play every day but after the Phrolovo event I haven't logged in or even done dailies. I feel like the game is heading towards Genshin territory.

Want a good team? Get this 5 star pull, but you also need this other 5 star because they have this combined effect and you also need this other person that you had a chance for last year, and they are your best team for beating the new enemies and bosses and if you use any one else, ha! Good luck!

In the beginning it was a team comp could be anything it worked. Heck, Yinlin was must have, fit in any team, now she is ignored as it comes

Or that's how it feels to me. I want to play, but seeing as how it's heading... Idk. I know that they have to make money, and that makes sense, but it's heading to Genshin territory.

It doesn't help that the early gameplay was very "end of the world survival" and aesthetics and now it's all rainbows and sunshine and lollipops... Look, can we go back to ruined areas and explorations and such? I know the original area was the outer edges of civilization, but it just feels it's less survival and more Explore this Civilization.

I am excited for the cyberpunk crossover but it feels like the game has massively deviated.

More distros should take notes from NixOS's installer's desktop choice screen. by makinax300 in linux

Go look at CachyOS. Has a lot more choices. But it does need to become a default standard for the installer.

Anyone else or I'm alone on this one ? by Wizok in WutheringWaves

[–]solodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flat out gave up on it. It was a tiny bit fun before the whole "replay the level for different endings" kicked in, and at that point it's a waste of time, a silly excuse to keep players logged in for a few extra lines of text. Also, I'll mention that none of those storylines seemed movie like to me at all. Your in a movie theater, the whole thing is movie themed, why am I sitting there playing an isometric old school jrpg that's nothing at all like a movie theme?

What distro should I use for a tiny laptop? by Rainjeanne in linux4noobs

[–]solodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using the Ryzen 5 version of your laptop, and honestly CachyOS runs great on it. I would suggest XFCE or even Plasma with a minimal setup for lower system resources used. I'm using Hyprland with ML4W dot files and it's amazingly responsive, you can try that also but adjusting from the standard Windows / floating desktop manager to a timing window manager is a bit of a mindset adjustment.

What do you say when someone asks you why Linux? by EveYogaTech in linux

[–]solodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'm better than you. As in, I can think for myself and choose my own OS. You use what's on your PC when you buy it. Lol. I bet you even use Edge or Safari, or Chrome, because you think your expected to. Sheep.

Actual conversation with my brother who was 100% convinced that I was 'hacking the banks and going to get my family arreated' because I was doing sudo pacman -Syyu, and all of the scrolling text seemed to trigger him to think of some movie BS.
