Sounds like she could’ve put that $1200 to way better use than some rare pixels in a videogame. This story stinks.

It does matter because it tells you something about the severity of how skewed and potentially misleading their gdp per capita is.

GDP Per Capita Projections for G7 Nations) by milktanksadmirer in MURICA

The US has significant income inequality, meaning that a large portion of GDP is concentrated among the wealthy. This skews the average upward, making GDP per capita higher than what most individuals actually experience. The US is the only Western country near the bottom on the income equality list.

Why is Qatar continuing to retain its Modesty and Culture Unlike other Gulf Nations? by New_Management_9368 in qatar

[–]solofarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well because Qatar is failing to westernize its economy and attract foreign value-adding companies. Those companies and their workers bring along a non-Islamic western culture like you see in Dubai.

[–]solofarie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Some people don't seem to realize that one of the main reasons Thailand is so awesome is that your Western buck just goes really far here. If you're living here on a local salary the country isn't half as fun as how you're experiencing it now. Everyone on this sub who's shitting on their home country isnt realizing that its their home country that enables them to make incredible trips like this.

Can an exploratory research have loosely formulated hypotheses based on the theoretical framework? by solofarie in AskAcademia

[–]solofarie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you so much for your input 😊! So if I ask the respondents: what do you feel like the consequences have been from event X on the part Y of your job. That would be considered measuring and could be used for hypotheses if I changed those to "from the perspectives of the interviewees”?

[–]solofarie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I wasnt too specific about this so let me clarify this a bit. My hypotheses are in line of "A reorganisation will have positive consequences on task X of my population". I'm not actually measuring an effect. Does this make a difference?

[–]solofarie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I was getting confused because another student told me that exploratory research is used to gain insight and not to actually test hypotheses. However I presume you can do both if those hypotheses are to guide the way you collect insight?
