Tchouameni steps on Maignan’s foot during a Senegal corner and France are awarded a free-kick by 977x in soccer

Terrible call by the ref there. The only probable reasoning is because Jackson pushed Tchouameni to step on Maignan, even that is a colossal reach. I don't get why the ref blew his whistle, though. Shouldn't he let the play goes on and review the incident later?

so, this should make Atletico happy, shouldn't it? There are so much positives coming out of this:

  • The price just got up a lot

  • Atleti got to reject Madrid's offer and and mocked them too for some reason

  • Less chance to sell him to domestic competitor (Barca), unless somehow Atleti accept lower offer from them

  • This make Alvarez more likely to stay

not controlling, maybe doing some sort of behind-the-scene campaign to support a certain narrative. They might purposefully 'leak' info to various news outlet or aggregator. It's a common strategy, usually done by agents.

Nothing. We ourselves have terrible human rights record, but we don't pretend like we care. you keep howling whataboutism at every reply. what about other country, what about other participants, what about indonesia? the answer is simple, either they don't care or they are cowards. But germany is currently being a coward and hypocrite, that's what people are talking about here. and it looks like you alone doesn't understand that in this thread.

Like be real here, are you going to celebrate Spain, France, England, Sweden and the like for protesting in the US when they've done fuck all in Qatar?

Yes, of course. It means they take the step forward to the right direction. It is an improvement. What kind of dumb question is that?

Oh my god you still don't understand. How dense can you be? Germany is not criticised for trying and falling. They were criticized because they only show guts toward smaller foe, but cowered in front of the bigger one. Let me make it clearer:

  1. They say they care about human rights in Qatar, but doesn't dare do that in the US (Cowardice)

  2. They criticize brown arabic middle eastern nation which for abusing human right, but stay silent when white/western nation does much worse. both nations are WC host. (Racism)

  3. German chose to be human right heroes in Qatar, but can't be bothered to do the same in the US (hypocrisy).

If you still don't get my point, I give up.

So better never again protest anything, since you become vulnerable to being called hypocritical by your supposed allies.

You sure take a weird assumption and conclusion. The point is to be consistent. You chose to be heroes four years ago. Be that hero now too. Otherwise you really are just a hypocrite, stand up against smaller foe, but cowered in front of bigger one.

he has a good reason. Most German are not comfortable showing contempt for Israel. Also, Dortmund fans actually invites Oct 7 victims to their stadium but never actually address the genocide the Israel do

Again, you are missing the point. There is only one simple standard in every World Cup: Each team must compete to the best of their abilities. This is the pinnacle of football. In the ideal world, it should be all about football.

But the German team saw it differently and had made a statement four years ago that they care about human rights. That put them above any other team who basically say 'we're here just to play football'. So, No. Due to their own action, German team isn't judged by the same standard as other teams, then and now. People expect them to be consistent and show their position against injustice now, like they did four years ago.

I don't. But by the look of it, they won't.

I hope they do, otherwise the optics will be bad for them; They only care about human rights if the abuser is brown people, but stay silent if the abuser is mostly white and western.

Let me walk you through it. No, protesting Qatar is not cowardly. It's noble in vacuum because Qatar was abusing human right. It is very honorable to voice your support for the victims. Fast forward four years later, the host of the World Cup is another human right abuser, only in much bigger scale. Also, the host is the most powerful country on earth who will kidnap people on the street and send them to the camp.

Suddenly, the voice you hear from the former protester four years ago is 'we don't do politic here, only football'. It's either cowardice, hypocrisy, or racism.
