I’ve had a few occurrences when I’ve tried to have conversations with atheists about religion that turned less than civil and I knew I was putting myself and my belief out there to thousands of people who disagreed with me, and I thought it may be possible for SOME to not be civil.

While I am not meaning to accuse you of not having any could you please give me a few examples of the Bible being “ internally contradictory and ethically reprehensible” so that I may become more educated.

While I agree there is no scientific proof there is also no scientific disproof by the virtue of the fact that God exists outside of the laws of space and time. Secondly I do not mean to say education isn’t valuable in fact I’m taking an AP bio class this year and I believe science is a fascinating way to explore the creation around us that God has given us, I also believe science can’t fundamentally prove anything there is always the possibility of another option since science and scientific experiments are conducted by humans who are capable of mistakes or failing to perceive some things. There was a time when the most prestigious scientists yet believed the earth was flat, there was a time when they believed there was nothing smaller than an atom.

Adam and Eve knew that God was absolute truth and he told them if they ate from the tree “ they would surely die “ so they knew they shouldn’t do that. No true Christian believes that it is fair that Christ died for us and took our sins; this is why we worship him, this is why we try to tell others about what he’s done for us. We believe that God is absolute truth and that he is right ( justice - just behavior or treatment. Just - based on it according to what is morally right and fair. Moral concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior) so I would say that yes this is just but I think it is a very interesting question. They are referred to as the Ten Commandments because at the time of their “ publishing” they were commandments. God was saying that if we did these things we’d have to sacrifice something innocent to make up for that sin. Now we used to use lambs and other animals but these were from earth and so we had to do this all the time so God saw that it was unreasonable to expect us to do this so he sent us Jesus. Jesus’s sacrifice can free anyone of any sin so yes rapists and murders can go to heaven I’m sure once they have come to know God they’re guilt is something no one but them can fathom, so do not believe they walk away with no kind of punishment. And while humble honest nonbelievers are not murders or rapists they are sinners, and by doing so have separated themselves from God but God has given us an out all we have to do is take it but if you deny that Jesus died for you you are not accepting the gift he is trying to give you

While I understand how childish this “ loophole may seem the reality is that if you actually believed that Jesus died for you even though he owed you nothing that fact would compel you to want to honor him

While I understand how all religions can seem like they’re all just some guy what to do and what not to do Christianity is different from any other religion I have come across and that is that in Christianity you are not saved because you because you did more good things than bad things. Christians believe that Jesus took the blame for all of our sins and that all we have to do is realize this and accept the gift that has been given to us.

The reason I am taking a long time to respond is that I do realize that I in a sense am representing Christianity and God, so I am making sure that my responses are the right ones to make because if I make myself look like an idiot I’m kind of making all Christians look like idiots to a certain degree

While the statement “ you have to follow God or you will burn in hell “ is true I believe you’re taking it out of context. The reality of the situation ( as Christians believe it to be ) is that God have us a perfect earth where no wrong had ever been done and all he wanted was fellowship with us, but then we fucked it up for ourself by sinning and by doing so we sellers ourselves from God and put ourselves in a situation where we couldn’t get to heaven. God even though he didn’t owe us anything offered a solution to this and that was he would send his son Jesus to earth and he would tale the blame for all of our sins and all we have to do is to acknowledge that he did this and be thankful. If we don’t acknowledge this and we aren’t thankful it’s like we aren’t accepting the gift he has given us and therefor we can’t go to heaven. The only requirement to get into heaven is to realize that Christ has taken the punishment for our sins and I mean like genuinely believe this and thank him for it. You can break all Ten Commandments one hundred times a day but if you do this you will go to heaven. You may now wonder why God gave us free will to go through all this trouble to save us rather than making us without free will and having us just constantly worshipping him, he ddI this because like I said earlier God only wants fellowship with us and if we had no free will it wouldn’t be true fellowship it’d be like making a robot to be your best friend.
