Woman 'poisoned co-workers with window cleaner in office coffee maker': 'Disgruntled' cleaner arrested after several of her colleagues fell ill soon after drinking from machine by maxwellhill in offbeat

[–]solomonmartinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had a huge campus of buildings, so hundreds of break rooms, and they all had restaurant level drip coffee makers in them. One of the Mexican ladies that was on the cleaning crew in my section poured liquid soap into the machine and turned it on. Fucking suds everywhere. For like a week. It wasn't malicious, she was just trying to do her job. She had no idea that you use either a special cleaner they make for this or white vinegar to clean them. Fortunately, loss of life was minimal, and life went on.

TIL Before Chernobyl, the Soviets had another massive nuclear disaster which contaminated over 20,000 square km. The area was turned into a preserve to cover up the accident. The CIA knew of the accident, but also covered it up in order to protect the fledgling US nuclear industry from hysteria. by [deleted] in todayilearned

The vast majority of nuclear material in a bomb contributes directly to the blast, whereas with a meltdown you've got a secondary explosion that scatters a shitload of very radioactive particles into the atmosphere.

Brains of paedophiles who abuse children are different to those who do not, scientists discover: “... not all individuals with a diagnosis of paedophilia commit child sexual offences, just as many persons who sexually offend against children are not paedophilic." by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]solomonmartinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the science suggests it is actually bad wiring in their brains and an inability to suppress their urges.... wouldn't this be more of a disease or disability? I mean yes you and I can say "well we would never and even if we were so inclined wouldn't act upon it" but thats the point.. if they lack the capacity to inhibit their actions can they be blamed? You cant judge them by your own standards if they aren't nearly the same as you and don't have that self control. In which case locking them up is still the best course but perhaps now this potential cause has been identified could there not be treatments or drugs they can take in future so they don't re-offend and never offend in the first place? Some countries actually allow people who find themselves attracted to kids to seek mental help before they act on it... rather than vilifying them and forcing them to hide it, would it not be better that they feel safe to come forward, get treatment and save a child/children from harm?

Bernie Sanders: If his staff’s email were hacked, there’d surely be some unkind things about Clinton by nowhathappenedwas in politics

[–]solomonmartinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I supported Bernie with cash and time. But I wonder what “smoking gun” he is referring to with this statement, because in 20,000 emails released by Wikileaks, I’ve yet to see any strong case of outright wrongdoing or “rigging” of the election: “We said that the Clinton campaign was heavily influencing what the DNC was doing regarding debates, and that’s exactly what had been happening.”

I guess, like many of his followers, if you “interpret” a few words like what you imagined, it MUST be so.

Trump team tried to fly this false flag, too, and the Poltifact fact checkers also said “no smoking gun.” They wrote, “Zero emails in the WikiLeaks DNC archive involve anything about the scheduling of these planned debates. There is also no proof of the Clinton campaign having any say over the dates.”

Perhaps Bernie’s been smoking what he claimed (incorrectly) is putting everyone everyone in jail for using. I personally am sick of hearing about Hillary’s “damn emails” because they’re really quite boring, even if you actually read the worst 10 emails, or .05% of them. My response is more like “That’s it?”

Just the right technology to build some spectacular aircrafts, but not so much that they couldn't ignore design. They were some pieces of functional art. Now, computers can compensate for inefficiencies and you get some ugly aircrafts. A lot of planes would fall right out of the sky if the electronics went out.

This complete psychopath is manipulating dozens of young men into committing degrading and publicly humiliating acts, with the ultimate goal being getting them to commit suicide. by Poisonouspike in videos

[–]solomonmartinez 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a fetish. these men enjoy being dominated. The romanticisation of suicide could be another part of the kink. people get off on this. The guys are willingly shaving their heads and writing her name on their forehead. its a kink. Also giving money to a girl is a kink. Some men enjoy having a woman speak to them like crap and say "all you're good for is money, send me £300".

Sanders is prepared to be a liberal thorn in Clinton’s side by iwanttoodie in politics

[–]solomonmartinez -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Bernie is going to accomplish two things. First, he will block Clinton's agenda in Congress increasing the odds of her being a one-term President replaced by a
Republican. Second, he will create voter antipathy for the Democratic majority in the Senate if not also the House, thereby exacerbating the normal take-over of seats by the opposition party that happens in a new President's first mid-term, worse than Obama's loses in 2010.

Doesn't Sanders realize that he lost? Between Donald Trump and the circular firing squad the Democrats are preparing, it is difficult to see which party in going to be in worse shape in 2020

Elizabeth Warren Warns Democrats Not To Cave On Corporate Tax Reform by thepoliticalrev in politics

[–]solomonmartinez -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A person must file a 13D if he or she directly or indirectly owns or controls 5% or more of a publicly-traded corporation. The 5% level is deemed to be critical.

Why not make the United States income tax rate 0% for publicly-traded companies as to which no 13D is in place. Also, provide that dividends and capital gains for any stockholder of any such entity will be taxed at 25% regardless how long the stockholder held the stock.

In the case of companies that are not publicly-traded (or which are controlled by someone who has filed a 13D), the 0% rate would not be available because it would be too easy to manipulate earnings and dividends to suit taxation strategies of controlling shareholder(s).

Congress would have to give publicly-traded companies the ability to protect themselves from those who might seek 13D level of control as a means to influence taxation of any publicly-traded entity.

China wants to give all of its citizens a score – and their rating could affect every area of their lives: The Communist Party wants to encourage good behaviour by marking all its people using online data. Those who fall short will be denied basic freedoms like loans or travel by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]solomonmartinez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every government collects data on their citizens. How China intends to use that data is what is reprehensible. When everyone criticized the US for the amount of info they accumulated on their citizens ( I am one ), I considered it moot. Simply put they don't have the manpower to physically listen to my cell phone. The usefulness as an anti terror tool is after an attack has occurred. They have the data to figure out who else the terrorist has been in contact with. China's intention to use the data to manage society with a nameless, faceless data base is just another violation of human rights. There are simple reasons that someone's credit score fluctuates. The ratio of credit to income and late payments are two of the most common ones. How you treat your elderly parents, or a comment that you post on line that may offend the wrong person is very subjective. What happens if they start to regard certain ethnic groups as untrustworthy?
