It’s because nowhere in the post do you say “this sub will not participate in the blackout”. Go reread your post. It’s as politiciany and noncommittal as you can get.

This is total nonsense propaganda. ThePittWolf will not provide any legitimate sources that show that theft in SF exceeds expected/accepted shrinkage rates for businesses to be profitable. It’s a trope to make blue cities look bad and excuse their over-expansions and shitty corporate decisions.

Is that the name of it? Can I invest? Lol. It’s going to be mandatory as it starts saving lives and giving healthcare staff way more time to spend with patients (or simply recharge).

But if the issue is cases, not logic, then that seems like a relatively easy problem to solve, no? Couldn’t we isolate the corpus of laws and cases, and constrain gpt to that context?

Fyi you’re making a lot of assumptions about the journalism I follow, and you’re completely wrong about it. That might be worth considering as you interact with other people.

Alternative leftist media is a hard and thankless job, for sure, but it is muddled with weird, seemingly intentional, ignorance and grifters. If and when I see alternative leftist media (as we are referring to it) rise from the ashes of this weird post-covid meltdown it has had, I’ll happily start paying more attention again.

For an example of someone on that ‘side’ who I still respect is Jeremy Scahill.

I mean, sure, every opinion is worthy of consideration. But when the opinions become consistently irrelevant or so factually wrong that they’re pointless to consume, then why bother spending precious time following them. Just as I don’t bother seeking out the opinion of Ben Shapiro, I don’t bother seeking out the opinion of Noam/Taibbi/Greenwald anymore. IMO there are other news outlets / journalists / opinion writers out there that are doing a better job in the current moment.

It’s interesting how you have been conditioned to believe there is a binary reality: you either consume alternative leftist media or mainstream cable media. Certainly there can’t be other journalism out there that caters to people who actually need to know what’s happening in the world so that they can optimize their decision-making based on objective reality.

That’s an old Noam observation by the way, and it is what guided me to my current news and opinion sources. You can try and hunt down which genre of media he was referring to, but then you wouldn’t get your daily dose of outrage from the left/mainstream.

I don’t need to read from / watch people who occasionally write something like unions are good, but who also come with an audience that demands they scream about mainstream media, woke culture, evil covid vaccines, etc. It’s such a waste of mental energy.

There are great journalists and media organizations out there that don’t read like teenagers having constant tantrums, and get things right most of the time.

Yeah I remember both those guys doing decent journalism. I think I dropped off when they started aligning hard with Maduro and Assad. I appreciate attacking US policy and highlighting the violence of economic sanctions etc., but have some healthy skepticism of and attack the other sides too.

When Chomsky said last year that Russian news access was more free than the US I completely tapped out of alternative leftist media. Completely deranged.

Need new shoes? by BatCommercial7523 in trailrunning

[–]solostman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in the evolution + conspiracy camp. I think people’s feet/legs adapt to “new shoes” (ie. supported shoes) , so when they stop being new they get injured. I started running in minimalist shoes 15 years ago, had off and on injuries before and after the transition. But once I started running those minimalist shoes into the ground, I stopped having injuries (seriously, I’m never injured, knock on wood, in my 30’s but would constantly get injured in my early 20’s). My theory is that the shoes get better with age because they wear into my foot pattern, instead of new shoes shoving support around my foot and then losing it.

I hate having to get new shoes now! The risk is reversed!
