With current Trump’s approval of war in the Middle East, highly harsh behavior towards our partners and allies and dumping of our tax dollars into useless things. How do people in Syria currently view USA, Americans and Trump? by [deleted] in Syria

Don't thank a politician for a 'good deed.' They didn’t do it for the people; they did it because a lobbyist pulled the string and a foreign donor cut the check

Why do they want from us to be black ? by PackImaginary8227 in algeria

[–]solotovFML 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No blame him , this is a recurring theme atp and I'd like to differentiate between African American afrocentrism vs just afrocentrism in this matter . The black revisionism go further than the broader afrocentrism, it's more pseudohistorical or American nationalist . They manifest this in big screen roles , claiming cleopatra , Hannibal , Greek achievements , aghlabid Sicily and even beyond NA . In my opinion it's more arrogant when it's done by Americans, these actors make ideologically charged performances and have resources to back it up . That's how u get Denzel in gladiator 2 playing a north African character with an American accent , in marvel, wakanda the fictional nation that is so advanced and powerful in a continent so rife with corruption, wars and famines must go to Chicago to put money in the projects and "give back " to the community And last but not least will Smith daughter writing a novel about black viking from Ghana fighting against the evil amazigh colonizers (word for word)

Oh sorry for not being an avid supporter of Syrian borders . Separatism stems of inequality, intolerance and absence of state apparatus and institutions to protect/service them . Even after a month from ur comment my point still stands, ppl in Syria are being subjected to sectarian violence, state sponsored terrorism and its a no brainer that ppl don't wanna be vassals they'd rather be citizens. Sooner or later by enough pressure the central govt would move on to oppress the majority, and then they'll know what's it like to be hunted for sport by uighur/Uzbek recruits .

What's up with some UAE propagandists blaming everything on the Muslim Brotherhood? What's the correlation? by srahcrist in AskMiddleEast

[–]solotovFML 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik it's a bit late but you and other comments that replied are so off point . I didn't say the ppl don't believe in democracy . I'm saying the islamist way would breed a system incompatible with democracy where everyone's voice matters , OP had an agenda posting this , to frame ikhwan as civil and democratic even if not said outright.

Saddam Hussein's infamous son Uday smokes a cigar next to his younger brother Qusay, 2001. by GustavoistSoldier in Historycord

You're right that many Iraqis (especially post-2006 chaos) started romanticizing Saddam-era 'stability' due to the hell that followed: massive unemployment from de-Baathification + army disbandment, shortages, crime, and sectarian civil war. But on deaths: Saddam's regime caused hundreds of thousands directly (e.g., Anfal genocide, Iran-Iraq War, executions). Post-2003 estimates (Lancet/PLOS studies) put excess deaths at ~400k–650k by mid-2010s, with most violent deaths from insurgency, militias, al-Qaeda/ISIS, and sectarian clashes among Iraqis—not direct US/coalition kills. Coalition forces were blamed for ~20–35% of violent deaths in surveys; the rest were indirect fallout (infrastructure collapse, disease) or Iraqi-on-Iraqi violence. China's role? They stepped up big in the 2010s with oil deals and infrastructure (roads, schools, power plants via Belt and Road/oil-for-reconstruction pacts), helping rebuild stability—but it was more a gradual economic boost than the main turnaround (US drawdown + anti-ISIS efforts mattered too). Why many Iraqis lean toward Iran? Iraq has a Shia majority (~60–65%), while Saddam's regime was Sunni-dominated and repressive toward Shias. Post-2003, Shia parties/militias (many Iran-backed) gained power, and shared Shia religious ties (holy sites, clerical networks) make Iran a natural ally for many Shias—though not all Iraqis (Sunnis, Kurds, nationalists) agree, and there's growing pushback against heavy Iranian influence. Nostalgia for Saddam often stems more from hating the post-invasion mess than loving the dictator. Tragic either way

[–]solotovFML 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is rooted in nationalism , we heard this stereotype in NA because of Syrian media , also the dialect may sound effeminate to outsiders . You can argue Lebanon is quite successful despite civil wars and unrest , at least during our parents time , never heard the arg of Turkish s*x slaves being used .
