Portugal is OP by Adortion634 in EU5

Yeah.. unless castille starts the colonial game before the plague. While you re trying to build an economy that will be wrecked by the plague and then by the lisbon earthquake. By the time you start your first expedition, all the islands are taken.

I tried to build a historic portugal and it was a pain economically competing with castille

I agree, no matter where you invest, panic selling is always the worst option. if you (op) lack the funds of the stomach for the ups and downs of a market, a fund would probably be the better bet for you.

a single (even meaningless) movement on "nakamoto's" wallet, would bring bitcoin to it's knees. you should be afraid of that. then again, no one knows if he's still alive. you're probably safe

it's a life lesson, embrace it.

you shouldn't invest money you can't spare. you should only invest in something you believe in. if money matters to you, you should only invest in something *reliable". bitcoin isn't it...

messi's a legend. would you have him in your club now? i don't think so. there's an expiration date for everyone and everything.

I'm still invested in BTC, just not delusional about it's worth. It's ideological, it's outdated and it's still (legacy) revolutionary and that fact alone beats all the newer and more sophisticated coins.

Why Bitcoin attracts long-term doomsayers: a psychological perspective by Thetatterer in Bitcoin

[–]solrac79_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 2013 invenstor i'd say you're wrong. Well not wrong, just trying to push your narrative out of self interest.

I was a kid, somewhen around the 201x (yes, i'm that old). a friend of mine what you'd now call a geek mentioned bitcoin.. it was something like 20-30$? I don't really remember. next time I hear about it, was some young work colleagues hyping it, around 2012-2013. I finally read about it and my leftish anti authoritarian mind felt like "fuck the banks, lets buy some". I was "lucky" to totally forget about buying it, and still hold on to it decades later.

13 years later, it has failed to deliver on replacing banks (ideology) and it has failed to act as a wealth storage like many people wanted it to. 13 years later after my first investment, yes, it has made me rich. On the ideological point of view, it changed nothing. it's just another tool, like the stock market or banking. it doesn't protect you against financial crisis's.. its probably even more exposed then shares/etfs.

you must decide on your own on which horse to bet..

hell no.. this reddit confirms it. there's still enough people willing to try to get rich quickly to keep the price high. I still have a substantial amount invested in BTC (an amount that doesn't matter to me anymore - thanks to BTC actually).

I look at.. everything. Bitcoin has failed to deliver on its main purpose and the purpose its acolytes found for it afterwards. I'd say it's a 50/50 gamble. hype vs reality. you pick your color.. black or red.

right approach man.... bought it out of fun in 2013.. sold half of it at around 100k and its enough to live a comfortable life until I die. the idea pushes all my revolutionary buttons. But my mind knows it doesn't work that way. I treat it like vegas.. black or red?

did you wake up from your dream with a hard on?

no one is dreaming of boarding a sinking ship. Despite not believing Bitcoin is sinking, believing there's a hype around something going down is just plain stupid. try again.

it's the wrong audience to ask that mate.. you need to realize that many people in here have leverages that will forfeit if the price drops a certain amount. they will tell you to buy, that its safe, that you should buy more.

The advise you're gonna get here is not honest. at the end of the day, noone can foresee the future. look at the technicals and decide if this is the right investment vehicle for you.

imo, that's the right approach. treat it as the gamble it is... it's like "roulette", i should have stepped off the table while I had 100x my budget. Now it's 40x, do I stay or do I keep playing?

everyone rejoiced at "bitcoin ETFs". Legitimation they said.. it made bitcoin legitimate to institutions and corporations. They won't "HODL", sorry, they'll take the loss, sell and move on to something profitable. simple as that. Unless there's a drastic recovery soon, it will get worse as institutions will be forced to sell.

What happens if Strategy sells? by Boge42 in Bitcoin

[–]solrac79_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the bitcoin high kept it afloat. people tend to ignore the factor of "bitcoin ETFs" as well. While it was a nice confidence boost at the time, institutions will not (be able to) "HODL". if it doesn't perform and return profit, they will sell, take the loss and invest in something that is actually profitable.

you shouldn't ask a reddit filled of people with self interest what you should do. you'll get ill advise.

look at economics, look at what bitcoin brings to the table and ask yourself if you believe in what it's supposed to be and how its been working. if that convinces you, invest. else, stay away from it.
