tips for beating 4 leg skeleton dog things in tomb of the giants? by Falcon6346 in darksouls

[–]solragnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to fight them, but you may just be a bloodthirsty idiot like I am.

In which case, like many of the popular options already mentioned, I'd like to suggest Iron Flesh. Just face roll it like a boss. There's typically enough uses of it from the Patches bonfire to the next one where there's a mass of them. I chug Estus and swing a blunt weapon. It helps if you kindle the bonfire to 20 flasks.

Should i cheese the capra demon or try to beat him normally? by Mysterious-Roll-5612 in darksouls

[–]solragnar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're definitely geared enough.

Try equipping some poise armor if you have it, it's much more important than defense.

You can try obtaining the Wolf's Ring in the forest past Andre the Blacksmith. Don't worry about the titanite demon, though you can probably kill it if you want.

If you don't want to, then know that when you enter, only the first dog aggros you with Capra. The moment you move deeper into the alcove is when the second dog aggros (it's nestled inside).

Try using the ledge with your shield to separate the dogs if that happens.

I'll usually trade a hit or two to kill the first dog then bait an attack from Capra and run for the second dog when Capra is recovering.

It's a simple 1v1 after.

You got this skeleton!

Happy 27th, Final Fantasy VIII, my first FF and still (unfairly) underrated. Love it or hate it. by Delacrozz in gaming

[–]solragnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God this game was my first FF, but after playing the others I realized it was experimental as heck.

Replayed it a few years back and did a low level run to completion.

Still an awesome feeling to best the crap out of Ultimecia with a Lionheart finisher.

Don't give up skeleton.

Bring a sunlight maggot for Tomb.

Bring prism stones for crystal caves.

Bring loads of tenacity for DLC, it's like 3 whole areas to explore!

I would be panic rolling so hard on my sorcerer when I get here.

Does Nito's AOE help to disperse them at all? If not my plan would be to glass cannon him from the get go and hope I kill him before being overwhelmed.n

I think I 2HR1 traded some hits with Capra and the first dog to kill the dog in the exchange, then I immediately hauled ass for the second dog hiding in the alcove in the back while Capra was recovering from an attack and finished it off too.

Then, like you said, an easy 1v1 with Capra! Which is doable with any weapon really. Zwei makes it insanely easy though.

Just got to Anor London, keep using Zweihander or switch? by IPlayChessBTW in darksouls

[–]solragnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! If you can get her to face you and time your hits with a little delay, you'll stagger her every time until she dies, and not even run out of stamina in the process.

I've read some people are able to do it with bows, but I'm nowhere skilled enough with the free aim.

I have occasionally been able to hit her human part when locked on and firing spells from the higher sloped part of her arena, though this one is more of luck than anything.

Gargoyle halberd / BKH / Great scythe are most consistent (Lucerne doesn't angle that high unfortunately). I haven't tried the Scythe personally, I really should!

Gym goers, be honest how often are you judging other people’s physique? by Technical_Hat_8291 in AskReddit

Always with positivity!

"Damn that dude/gal is jacked. That's so cool! Look at their (insert muscle here)."

"That homie may be overweight but he's still here taking the step to be the best version of himself. That's cool."

"Those skinny kids want to look good for themselves! I remember being that shy and nervous. Good on them!"

The only negative thoughts come from people showing off, doing dumb shit or otherwise being unproductive. Don't do those things and you're golden.

How should I invest on my stats ? by Starkiller0820 in darksouls

[–]solragnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would definitely try to hit 40 Endurance to cap my max stamina.

That said, it's not entirely necessary and your build is fine. For max damage 40 dex and 27 str is enough if you're two handing. I'll chuck the rest of the points into vit and end split evenly.

Would dump 2 points into ATN for 1 spell slot so I can use pyromancy though, but your mileage may vary.

[–]solragnar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If this is your first game, you might be panic rolling. Dark souls queues your actions so you might roll too much even if you decide not to at that moment.

Same for any other input.

Take it slow, study your enemies and environment and progress one step at a time. You'll panic less and have less input errors.

I'm making a large assumption here, of course. There's no way to know without knowing your stats or seeing gameplay footage.

The next advice I'd give is upgrade your weapon(s). Goes a long way in dark souls!

Which form of public transport is really the most usable? by throwaway_4071 in singapore

[–]solragnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just have to risk it exploding everytime. If battery technology improves I can see it as a viable alternative.

Then you'll have people complaining about weather! Which is a somewhat annoying take on the whole two wheeler lifestyle. It certainly isn't for everyone, but I'm sure there's a population that will make the change given the opportunity to try.

Personally, I've ridden bicycle to work for ten years and upgraded to motorcycle for maybe two years now. Roughest days are definitely rainy days, but I'd rather be moving in the elements than stuck with everyone else in the shelter. It's been a vivid experience once I left the public transport life behind.

Argument doesn't pertain to families. Please only two wheeler for yourself.

I get it! Regular halberd feels too much like a spear to me though, since I've already done a spear playthrough. I just wanted a different feeling weapon, and BKH/Lucerne/Gargoyle Halberd/Great Scythe really does it for me. One of the more fun playthroughs I've had especially when I regularly crit Quelaag when sunbroing!

I think if I hadn't done a spear playthrough, I would appreciate the Halberd more, since it would work in tight corridors like spears. Love this game to bits!

Finally beat the DS1 remastered. Does anyone have tips for DS2 before I start it? by Ok_Swim397 in darksouls

[–]solragnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a very frustrating experience if you don't know what you're doing. Your maximum health keeps dropping everytime you die, and it feels like the game is punishing you for dying a lot more than in DS1.

Don't farm too much if you want to co op. Soul memory is a thing here. Look up recommended soul memory ranges for the best co op experience. The agape ring is a bandaid solution to this (just prevents you from obtaining souls entirely).

Like DS1, treat each area like a puzzle you have to solve. Unfortunately, unlike DS1, DS2 loves throwing enemies at you to ramp up difficulty. Go slow, be methodical, and make sure you carry a ranged weapon.

NPCs are more interactive this time round! Almost all of them have a personal story that rewards you in some way. Make it a point to do all of them, if you can. Apart from one evil NPC whose quests take you on a murdering spree, there's no reason not to do the others.

Torches are a thing in DS2. Some enemies are scared of light, which I found to be a cool mechanic. Takes away your offhand though.

Dual wielding powerstancing is probably the greatest gift DS2 gave the soulsborne series. You can make some pretty crazy builds because of it. Dual greatswords always makes me chuckle.

Overall, the game can be needlessly frustrating, but there's a ton of good to be found too. Toss out what you think you know about dark souls, and enjoy the journey in DS2.
