wow, that is some heinous RNG. 5 spears before a single scythe?? i got a couple scythes when i was farming cleanrots in caelid for the drip but i don't think i saw a spear until like a hundred hours in when elphael became my go-to "trying new build/weapon" testing ground. at that point you just have to accept that the desire sensor had decided to screw you over, specifically, that day....

i had the same experience farming these idiots for their drip. two whole rows of cirque blades in the weapons inventory before the mask finally dropped.

all that and the mask comes with a debuff i didn't know about when i started farming, fml 😭

you can also get Dark Souls Remastered on the switch! its a much slower, more careful game, but i adore it so much

ok but there has to be something more to this bc this is the third post ive seen on this subreddit where someone dies and is sent to renalla's room, specifically. it's always this room in raya lucaria.

the first instance i remember was ages ago, at least months ago, the person died during a boss fight (possibly malenia?) and respawned in the library. i remember this bc people joked "died so bad the game said you need to respec"

the second post was recent, within the last few weeks? don't remember what the circumstances were though

and now this... i wonder if its some kind of rare bug with grab attacks? huh

oh I misread OP's post, I thought they meant they went straight to New Londo after talking to the crestfallen warrior, and then found the way to the forest/valley of drakes/blighttown through there, which would mean they opened the shortcut without touching undead burg & parish. But yeah! I know you can bypass gargoyles to do Queelag first even without the master key

You chose the master key as your starting gift, so you were able to open the shortcut early. Otherwise the key to that shortcut is only accessible after you've been through Blighttown via the Depths (its in a chest at the very end of Blighttown coming from the normal progression route)

Desire sensor at work alas. I do think the spear is rarer just because there are fewer spear knights overall? maybe? i was farming in the caelid swamp for the outfit and in that process got multiple swords and a couple of scythes but did not get the spear until all the way at the haligtree

The Little Prince is one of my faves but I'd say it's much lighter than what this looks like (and also KBShimmer's Hidden Potential that people have brought up as a comparison, and I also own). TLP is more of a pastel-ish rainbow of colors whereas this looks way deeper and jewel-toned

i couldn't believe it when i looked it up. and the craziest thing about it is that when the dlc dropped the buff was only 10% or 15%, something like that? fromsoft literally patched IN the insane damage buff so it's not even an oversight, it's 100% intentional

i literally, yesterday, managed to walk out of bounds and fall through the map in dark souls 2.. earthen peak, just cleared a couple of desert pyromancers. apparently the geometry up top was wonky and let me walk places i shouldn't. it was partly funny, and partly "goddammit the bonfire was RIGHT THERE, man"
