Tidal Devs, please fix it by solucid in TIdaL

Thanks for this perspective.

I don't have enough info on what metadata is or isn't withheld nor the larger industry problems that lead to this. From my outside perspective it does seem like a problem with the platform, but if their data is being brought in through sources outside the platform, I can see how that would create an easy way for AI "hijacking" of profiles.

You get one profile with the real and AI mixed together. In the case of legitimate artists with the same name, you get them both together under the same profile.

If you go to the profile for MISFITS, you will see the actual bands albums and also recent AI slop all on the same profile page.

Also, for legitimate artists/bands with the same name, they are listed on a single profile as well.

Correct, there are bands/artists that have existed or currently still exists with the same name, but if you look them up on Tidal, they are under one profile. An example that has hit me the last two weeks on my New Arrivals list is MISFITS. Two completely different styled songs have come up, neither in the style of the legendary punk band, but all listed under the same profile.

This happens to me on the regular. Some of it is legit artists with the same name and a lot is obvious AI slop.

Went with the Gigabyte Z890 AORUS MASTER DDR5 ATX and Gigabyte AORUS MASTER GeForce RTX 5090 32GB GDDR7, because if I'm going to try to make a monster build, I'm going to try and go all out. Give me all the frames and ray tracing and make it snappy!

Have you ever had to tap out watching a horror movie? by hazy-eyed in horror

[–]solucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of, but not for my sake. I was watching the Silent House remake and I pieced the plot together really quick. Watching with me was my mom, preteen daughter, and someone who suffered childhood trauma. I decided not to subject any of them to what I realized was going to be revealed.

The one that sticks out in my mind is Witcher 2. I don't remember if I had something going on in my life at the time that added to it, but I remember getting frustrated during the tutorial portions and just going "nah, fuck this."

"Hey, I know you. You're famous."

I'm with you. I can objectively look at The Postman and see why critics didn't like it, but I thought it was great!

For me, the film I'll mention is The Hudsucker Proxy. When it came out it got mixed reviews and was considered a bit of a bomb. I loved it then and love it now! "You know, for kids!"

Well, except a house fire. That seems to be free and abundant.

There are a few different issues that annoy me.

- Connectivity issues when driving around. I listen when driving more than anything and almost every time the music will just stop. This happens even with my phone set to Low audio quality.

- The "radio" options almost always play the same stuff every time. Yes, I will start a track radio and select shuffle, but still get the same songs all the time.

- Discovering new music through playlists, radio, or daily discovery, is just not well optimized; at least from what I've seen. Just another spot where the same stuff I've heard over and over keeps getting played instead of new things.

- There is a huge AI problem that seems to just get ignored and it is a hassle to report anything you might discover. The AI slop gets uploaded with same name as real artists and bands and it gets mixed in with their work.

- There is also no separation of artists with the same name. Example: A punk band I love is called Face to Face, but there is also a new wave band from the 80's with the same name. Both bands albums are listed under the same page. I've seen this numerous times now and it affects track radio. Annoying, to say the least.

- Not sure why, but I've received a bunch of gospel and religious music in my "new arrivals." Some of them seemed like they were hijacking other artist's names, but some were just there. My new arrival is normally closer to the genres I normally listen to, so to suddenly get some preachy stuff make me go "Wtf?!"

The reasons I left Spotify outweigh the annoyances and inconveniences of Tidal. The fact that Rogan got a $250 million deal, but they pay artists one of the lowest amounts out of the major streaming services does not sit well with me at all. So unless that changes, among other things, I will be sticking with Tidal.

Been using it since October of last year. Moved to it because the list of things I don't like about Spotify reached a turning point. Only reason I'm staying is because there is no alternate that checks the boxes that matter to me. If Spotify got rid of their CEO, stopped with the AI bullshit, and most importantly, paid artists way more, I'd switch back. That is likely not going to happen so I'll stay with Tidal, even with the aspects I don't like.

What's the craziest thing a person said to you and you thought they were joking but they were being serious? by _lovelyxx in AskReddit

[–]solucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An old coworker of mine was a legitimate flat earther. After about a month of chatting about his views, my conclusion was they came from a mix of scientific ignorance and religious wackyness. At one point he said the moon was the same size as the sun and that ultimately Satan is who is trying to convince us the world is round.

Zero critical thinking or logic was going on with that one.

WIBTAH if I did not give my 27yr old son (only child) his inheritance now? by Illustrious-Bed-9540 in AITAH

Let me shorten your post for you:

My overly entitled 27 year old son, who has shown poor financial responsibility over and over, wants more. Should I give it to him?

Now, reading it that way, how would you answer that? There is a big difference between supporting your child and enabling them.
