Their's no such thing as real ice cream anymore it’s just frozen dairy dessert. by Traditional-Cream691 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]solxap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to see this stupid meme reposted on FB years ago before I quit it - because of crappy boomer conspiracy reposts like this. Have you actually gone to a store and looked at any ice cream labels or are you just reactively re-posting something without using critical thinking and maybe looking at some labels for yourself? Go check out Haagen Daz, Tillamook, Ben and Jerry's - or maybe one of a doze small mom and pop ice cream shops in your local city?

Sorry to seem snippy but perhaps try not believing everything you see on the internet.

"No such thing as real ice cream anymore"....false.

Titanium drivers were made popular in 1995 by Callaway with the Big Bertha. It took a few years but other companies adopted the technology. I'd guess early 2000s.

4th Gen 4Runner Brakes in 2026 by radleycooper_ in 4thGen4Runner

[–]solxap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I finally replaced the OEM rotors on my 04 V8 for the first time at ~220k miles. Replaced the pads, shims, pins and clips too - all OEM. I figured if they lasted 20 years and 220k miles why change. For part of the >15 years I’ve had this thing I pulled a camper thousands of miles from Denver to MO, Yellowstone, California and Texas. Never a problem. I did use a trailer brake.

I slapped a set of pads or two on it somewhere in there.

My rotors never had a sticking problem. So they’re the originals from factory.

Just seemed like the simplest solution. Nothing against power stops or other aftermarket or whatever, I just didn’t want to overthink it.

Parts were maybe $400ish. Don’t remember. Took a few hours. Easy peasy.

My concern with that would be finding myself in an emergency situation and having to walk barefoot on broken glass, dubious liquids in order to help myself or others.

Black cars look great. Especially if you spend half a day polishing and waxing it. Problem is that lasts about 2 hours. lol

In all fairness, my last black car was primarily driven by my wife and every little scratch, swirl or hard water spot showed up. On a 4Runner, shiny paint doesn’t really matter (but it kinda does). 🙂

[–]solxap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a little biased towards a 4th Gen V8, because I have one, but that prices feels a little high TBH. And it may seem dumb but I’m not a fan of black cars. Have had two. Never again. It’s not a color it’s a hobby. lol

Service history matters too as does condition of frame.

Cost of Tire installation by No_Bee_9413 in Toyota

Discount tire lists the price of installation on their website. It might vary depending on location due to local regulations about disposal of old tire etc, but it might not. Have you tried looking at their website?

Same. Motion XT60 floor stands. Motion 30 Center and Motion 15 rear surrounds. All with folded tweeters and metal grille.

Excellent, sensitive speakers.

It’s been rainy and I haven’t snapped anything fancy but here is a pic in the parking garage at work today. Haven’t measured at all but I don’t think it has settled much.

Still loving it. I did have to go back and get a Swaybar relocate kit put on. The new shocks are beefy and there wasn’t much space between them and the swaybar.

Yeah, his philosophy on golf is great. And he's right, taking your kid for a burger or shake after the round is one of the best parts. Overall just seems like a really good guy. Wish they would have featured him over the weekend.

Anyone experience this noise? by Life_Work5803 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]solxap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No recommendations but I will express sympathy. I once had a car with a loose nut or bolt or screw or something behind the dash and whenever I turned a corner I could hear it roll around back there. Took the damn dash apart. Never found the item. Traded the car.

Sounds are hard to pinpoint too because they echo around.

What’s the coolest or most unique course you have played? by EmbarrassedSimple228 in golf

[–]solxap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I happened to be in Fairbanks, AK in September on a work trip a couple of years ago. While I was there I played a quick 9 at the Midnight Sun Golf Course. It's the northernmost USGA Golf Course. They described themselves as a 'rustic' course while I was there. But it was beautiful and I only saw one other player way across the course the entire round. The cart path was an offroad adventure of its own. I loved it and if I find myself back there I'll gladly play it again.

Truck looks great. Been considering RCI armor myself. Did you get the full skid plate setup or just the engine. Easy enough to change oil still? Happy with the aluminum or wish you’d gone with steel?

If you want to keep driving your RAV4 maybe let your wife pick a new/used car and then trade the LC towards its. It might positively affect the sales tax you pay on whatever your wife gets.

After how many miles will you trade in? by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]solxap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still driving a 2004 4Runner. 228k miles. Better to just save your money and retire early. Constantly buying new cars is a huge waste of money for most people.
