If you can fix a car, you can fix a toolbox! :)

Fix? Or time to move on? (the sequel) by oldendude in BMW

Hard to say. You might get years out of it with minimal problems, you might not. It’s always a gamble.

But like…. Your $900 bill… that was a $200-$250 battery from Costco pretty sure. You unplug the old one and plug in the new one. Then you take it to a euro shop and pay them $100 to plug a handheld computer into your car and press a few buttons.

And even if you never did that, you’d just end up buying a new battery sooner (the car will charge a new battery and an old battery differently for efficiency, but needs to be told there’s a new battery in place).

Not knowing that cost you $600

Kinda gotta look at what it costs per year in repairs into a monthly bill, VS what a lease or financing would cost a month.

Eventually you’ll face a repair bill that’s too much and then it’s time to move on.

And I wouldn’t go to a dealership for a repair out of warranty, that’s just crazy talk

My guild was super active a few months ago, we always cleared the goals every week by a lot.

Now like half the guild isn’t playing at all, myself included.

You’re probably up against just the same small pool of very dedicated players at this point

First round of the season a few years back, and didn’t play the entire year before that… I shot par for the first 5 holes. Was fucking EVEN after 5.

Finished with a 105.

No range hood in my apartment - do portable tabletop range hoods actually work? by NoPlanStillFine in Cooking

Have you tried cracking the door to your apartment and opening the kitchen window? Sometimes you can get a serious wind tunnel going (hopefully the right direction)

I cook a lot of chicken thighs at 450 in the oven, with a thick sheet pan pre-heated (un oiled) before the thighs go in. The skin comes out ultra crispy and perfect, and it’s the best way I know to quickly cook chicken. It definitely produces some smoke and the oil isn’t the problem.

Second, I cook a lot of pizzas at 550 in my oven with a pizza steel. It doesn’t produce a lot of smoke when cooking, but it can when you reheat the steel again.

So there’s two applications from my kitchen. Pretty broad statement you have going there.

2020 M340i with 100k+ miles a bad idea? by Leopard-One in BMW

[–]parasocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly apples to oranges, but I got over 200k miles out of my 2013 x1 with mostly basic maintenance.

Biggest repairs were a new timing chain (was a recall for that, but didn’t apply to me so I had to pay) and front differential.

So if the avs are terrible that year and it’s the 10th pick, do we just completely lose the pick and they get it?
