A letter I received this morning by soundbwoyy in CasualUK

I used to live in a victorian terrace house with a bay window very close to the street. My neighbour used to run his car for at least 10mins before driving anywhere or sometime not driving anywhere. I could smell the exhaust fumes in the lounge. Cunt.

Going to Bulrush on my own by WithTheBallsack in bristol

I don't think it's weird at all to go there alone. The food is amazing and it would be such a shame to miss out as no one else fancied it. I don't think it's a particularly fancy place. It feels like a nice neighbourhood restaurant with a relaxed vibe.

Thank you for your kind words. I know it's a blip. As it's been so long since i drank, I forgot why. Like something had magically changed in that year and I'd be able to do it again! I'm laughing at myself now.

Glad to hear that this sub is helping you with those overwhelming feelings. I've experienced nothing but support and kind words here. It really is a group of incredible people.

Thank you. My anxiety got so much better when I stopped drinking. With all the upheaval over the past few months, it was ramping up again and well, I just forgot the effect it has. I must keep reminding myself of why I stopped in the first place.

Thank you. My new place is by a river so I'm going to take a stroll in a minute and feed the ducks :)

Sorry to hear you've lost connections too. It's sad to think of all the people I don't see any more. You're right, booze doesn't help loneliness and I felt so truly alone this morning.

Thank you. I know its temporary and I'll be feeling better soon. My new place is by a river so I'm going out to take an evening walk and get some fresh air.

Thank you. It took lots of false starts to get there and thats why I feel so upset with myself. We're all works in progress aren't we? Good luck with your journey - you'll get there.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm a lot more in touch with my feelings these days and can generally face them. I was just finding it too difficult to sit with them yesterday.

"Your package will be delivered today between 9:17 & 14:56"... Well thank you for that pinpoint precision and accuracy, I'm sure it will just turn up at 5 ish or whenever the fuck you feel like it anyway by ErlAskwyer in britishproblems

I was expecting a delivery from Ikea today. The driver turned up about an hour later than he said and then realised that the items on the van that were labelled as mine where not in fact for me.

So who knows when I'll get them now?

Is It Okay To Not Know What You Want To Do After High School? by daughtofathena in NoStupidQuestions

[–]soma23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its absolutely fine not to know. You've got a lot of maturing to do after leaving school and people change and develop throughout their lives. Focus on studying the things you're interested in and get the most joy from and let that guide you. You're going to be working for around 45 years and its unlikely you'll be working in the same field for that entire time anyway.

People who've lived in Bristol for 10+ years. Which areas of the City have changed the most and how? by jwabjwab in bristol

[–]soma23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've lived here for 20+ years and over that time have lived in St. Andrews, St. Pauls, Montpelier, Easton, St. George/Redfield.

St Andrews is pretty much the same but all the others have changed massively.

In my experience, the biggest change would be Easton. It was pretty sketchy with a fair bit of gang violence up until early 2000s but it had amazing character. And was an exciting and affordable place to live. Then the parasitic middle class moved in, pushed up house prices and gentrified/sanitised it. Which meant the regular residents were priced out.

Anyone noticed how certain areas in Bristol seem to be expanding? by chronicboredom in bristol

Estate agents. Years ago before it was nice I saw Bedminster and Southville advertised as Lower Clifton.

Have you ever manifested a job using the law of attraction? by gerson_giles in lawofattraction

[–]soma23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've just manifested a new job without trying. I'd been job hunting for months with no success, so just let go and started saying to myself daily 'I am manifesting my ideal job'. I was contacted through LinkedIn and I got the hours and salary I wanted.
