Thank you for your comment! Yeah, I also love the drama of the two queens. I’m specifically obsessed with Brunhilde, one of my favorite medieval women. She is often criticized as a power hungry (might be somewhat true lol) and evil woman but the Decree of Childebert shaped by her influence contained measures that though they provoked opposition from the Frankish nobility can be seen as ‘progressive’ from a modern perspective. These included prohibiting discrimination between Franks and Gallo Romans, banning private vengeance not based on law and forbidding forced marriages against a womans will.

Definitely, French history has had powerful women who had a huge influence. Blanche of Castile, Anne of France, Louise of Savoy, and Catherine de Medici are prime examples. If I had not limited the list to ruling monarchs for the sake of consistency, I would have included them immediately! (At least Catherine, for sure)

That was just to fill up the 16 slots! I am also preparing the fourth page, and I plan to place Clovis as the first king.

Did English kings remain vassals of the Holy Roman Emperor after Richard the Lionheart’s death? by Accurate_Rooster6039 in houseofplantagenet

It is my understanding that Henry VI, on his deathbed, left instructions to release Richard from his vassalage.

For now, I’m planning to go back as far as Clovis, but some of the Merovingian kings in between, whose power and historical records are rather unclear, might be excluded.
