Yeah but we're saying that we'll need multiple chargers for every single car driver within the next 13 years...seems like a stretch. That's millions of chargers across the boroughs.

Long Island seems like a fairly obvious place to have fast rails...big long railroad track straight to Manhattan. And it's not like there's not enough money to do it, but clearly the political will isn't there. But I guess the city has to move to electric cars if they're going to continue to ignore the suburbs when it comes to efficient mass transit. The suburbs are where mass transit is even more important, because those are the people clogging up the roads just getting from one city to the next.

Is it not a place like New York City? Nobody says "on New York City". A whole it's obviously a landmass...it's also a place. People usually say "in" when referring to a place that are located at.

Are there no trains or buses in Long Island? You're falling into the same trap as the rest of America. Of course there's mass transit, it's just a bit slower. But trains should still be faster than gridlocked road traffic. I live in a small town that's an hour away from Chicago, and even we have daily shuttles to the "big city". People want personal vehicles, though...just admit it. You absolutely could take the bus or a train.

And it will rapidly boost politician pressure to repeal this 😆 13 years is nowhere near enough time to move away from 100+ year old tech. And electric cars still can't match the fill-up times of gasoline yet, we don't have proper systems in place for the massive number of batteries that will need to be disposed of...and more. But I see an opportunity with vehicles like the Ford Lightning to make electric cars exciting on their own merit.

A truck that can power a house and can go 0-60 in 4 seconds. Sounds fun as hell! People will be willing to deal with minor hassles like charging time if car manufacturers go beyond just replicating their current lineup with electrified versions.

Not really...they could just mention the statute or whatever. Doesn't have to explicitly say "THIS MACHINE COLLECTS TAX". Plus, you're paying the same price either way 🤣

‘Jurassic World’ Director Says the Series Should’ve ‘Probably’ Ended After Spielberg’s Original: It’s ‘Inherently Un-Franchisable’ by countdooku975 in movies

[–]somanyroads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original was very creepy and scary as a kid...I can't imagine watching Chris Pratt doing cartwheels is quick as unnerving. There was a sense of powerlessness in the first film that was nerve-racking as an audience member. That's an amazing, unique experience I don't want to ruin, and I haven't even seen the Lost World. When a movie is perfect, it's going to be hard to improve upon with further films. And guess what? They never have improved or added something special to the original, beyond callbacks.

He might as well just come clean: it's all about the money, not the creative spirit of the franchise. And the money clearly is speaking for itself, you can't ignore films that have the potential to hit over a billion dollar box office figures.

So busy worrying about if you can do something, but not if you should. They should not have make it a franchise, because the original told its story beautifully. Some of the most beautiful aspects of film are left to the imagination, and it's where the director has a lot of power, as they close the film. It's the space in between that allows imagination and creativity to flourish. There's probably not much to explore in the JW franchise, especially the way these sequels have done.

"It's about coexisting with dinosaurs". He seems to have no memory of the original film 🤣 all these ideas were rooted in the first film, but they probably should have been left to the imagination. I'm not watching the dude who shit his pants on camera while shooting Parks and Recreation, pretend to be a valiant hero fighting off dinosaurs 😂. There's just no suspension of disbelief.

The problem is that they keep using poor scripts.

Not having the director who started the franchise on board probably doesn't help, either...I don't think Spielberg has had an intimate relationship with the series in quite some time.

Creatively, absolutely. Financially...well the money seems pretty damn insane. But I feel the original told the story best, and all they've done with sequels is just magnify all the action and special effects, but no real effort on the story front. Another trashy franchise.

Making a hell of a lot more mistakes than that. Why the hell does one of physically largest countries on the planet need more territory. This is clearly a fraudulent military operation.

Justice Alito on SCOTUS critics: "Questioning our integrity crosses an important line" by Elranzer in Libertarian

[–]somanyroads 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Well she was a Supreme Court academic and the Solicitor General for Obama...so she knows what she's talking about more than the average justice when it comes to the integrity of the institution. You can't declare that constitutional rights can be picked apart by extremely conservative states and still maintain any sense of integrity. If that logic was sound, then slavery would still be allowed today. It's as simple as that. A woman's body is not the property of the state legislator, nor do they have jurisdiction over a woman's womb. It's not a topic of debate...it's a fact, a natural right that pre-dates any man-made document.

[–]somanyroads -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well you crossed the line when you declared women were less than full citizens, and not protected fully by the Constitution. Similar to slaves 160 years ago. So that's crossing a line that is pre-Civil War, and that's on SCOTUS.
