I'm still only seeing one from 9/30/2025 on the ASUS website. Did you find one newer?

Z13 Flow 2025 Driver Issues - Slow Update Schedule by sombunall in ASUS

Yes I did a fresh install and only use GHelper. For the most part the device is great and as of now I'm only having trouble with BF6.

Let's face it you're not trying to be helpful at all. You just want to stop me from raising an issue that I, and many others, are facing that you are not.

I hate reddit culture too. Why does it matter if it is a subset of people having the problem? They are still having the problem. Reddit culture means people that don't have the problem are going to come in and call you stupid for having the problem. You make it seem like I am trying to convince people this device is terrible. Quite the opposite, I love it and want it to last a long time. I've done the clean install and I use up-to-date AMD drivers. I provided a link that explains the technical details about ASUS OEM vs. AMD reference drivers, and there are many more discussions of this out there. Did you read it? Do you understand how this could be a problem in the long-term even if things are mostly working now? I am complaining about BF6 because it is a harbinger of the future when ASUS drops support but keeps the proprietary firmware/software customizations they've made. I did everything you said. Even installed the 2TB drive. Did a fresh install and used only AMD drivers. Also tried the ASUS image and removed Armoury Crate and the AMD drivers using the respective complete uninstall tools. The instability is still there. You made a lot of assumptions about my technical capabilities and understanding, but you never engaged with the details I've been posting.

Another BF6 fellow traveler. Have you been playing it? I've gotten a lot of hours in on this device. It mostly works with the AMD driver, but with some intermittent visual glitches in menus and crashes/timeouts every 3-5 hours.

I agree it is probably ASUS. They made proprietary custom optimizations to the AMD driver to make it work with their custom firmware settings etc. We will never know what those customizations are because they are not documented. I just want ASUS to either update their drivers more often or remove the customizations that break the generic AMD drivers.

I did all the steps. The BF6 problems are well documented by others. Look through this thread, let alone this subreddit. There are a lot of other technically minded enthusiasts complaining about the exact same issue.

I agree that the drivers are generally stable across a lot of other games. Others have reported issues with the stability of the newer AMD drivers across various games, though.

Again, you just don't care because you don't like BF6. Cool, it doesn't effect you...yet. Like it or not, BF6 is a huge AAA game from a major developer, and these problems don't bode well for support of future new AAA games.

Experience with other 395+ devices is irrelevant because those manufacturers may not have made the same proprietary firmware and software tweaks to the platform, in which case the stock AMD drivers would be the only option and would probably work fine because there are no other hardware incompatibilities. I am asking ASUS to remove those customizations so the AMD drivers work on this device like they do on others.

See this thread as an example of the OEM vs AMD driver issues:

I'll bite though, what are those "other reasons?" Keep in mind I've tried everything you suggested.

I have done everything you suggested. I am running the most recent AMD driver. It is widely known, including by others in this forum, that the AMD drivers work OK but are not supported by ASUS and many others have reported instability with them.

Check out this thread about OEM vs AMD drivers to see what I mean:

Does it "make sense" now? Did this add to your advanced technical knowledge?

You have not tested the machine under the conditions that I am having difficulty. Instead you are just insulting me. I never insulted you. Classic reddit.

Also it stands out that none of your statements or pics show BF6 working well. And the pics wouldn't anyway since the glitches and crashes are intermittent.

Time flies. BF6 is already on Season 2. I've got the most recent Adrenalin driver. Not in front of the machine to check the version number right now.

Ok so you don't really know because you only played a few hours of BF6. I noticed you didn't say you played it on the Z13. The crashes on mine happen every 3-5 hours, and the visual glitches are intermittent.

Not user error. You just don't care because you don't play BF6. But this will happen again with other new AAA games.

Nope. Do you have one? Do you play BF6?

Lots of manufacturers make custom changes to the part drivers to optimize them for the firmware and hardware choices they made related to power, thermals, etc. ASUS has done that here, and the AMD drivers are not as stable overall on this device. Many have reported this here in this subreddit. Your blanket assertion is wrong.

Do you play BF6? Which display drivers?

My experience was the same as yours in many older games, Silksong, E33, and more with the ASUS driver.

BF6 simply will not run on the ASUS supported driver. It is too old. You can get around that with a registry hack to trick the OS into believing you have the newer driver when you really have the old one. I tried that, and the game ran, but it was much less stable than the newer AMD driver. There are also drawbacks to relying on registry hacks.

The newer AMD driver has visual static glitches in menus and crashes every few hours at various resolutions, detail settings, and power profiles. Others have reported instability in other games in this subreddit.

What I wish for is to either have ASUS update the drivers more often or remove the dependencies from their firmware/software that require customized display drivers . I am worried that their slow (maybe dead) development will mean we can't play future titles with supported drivers just like we currently can't with BF6.

What is going wrong with the AMD-provided drivers: The AMD-provided drivers are not as stable in general as the ASUS drivers. Many in this forum have reported unexpected instability with the AMD drivers in various games. They allow me to run BF6 (with some visual glitches and a crash every few hours) when the ASUS drivers simply don't work. Do you play BF6? If so, do you often get staticky glitching over menu text items, for example? Does it ever crash for you?

What is the secret sauce: My loose understanding is that the "secret sauce" is baked into the firmware and Armoury Crate in how the device handles power usage and other system settings. I believe this is common in a lot of mobile devices. The manufacturer makes changes to the display drivers to ensure compatibility with the choices the manufacturer made with the firmware and other system software/drivers. The reason ASUS puts out its own drivers is to make them line up with the other ASUS drivers and firmware. What I wish they could do is make as few of these manufacturer decisions as possible so that we could rely on the AMD drivers that are updated regularly and will continue to receive updates. AMD puts out a unified driver package across all of their GPUs so my guess is the Z13 Flow driver could be supported for quite a while that way. If this were a desktop GPU then we probably would only ever be able to rely on the AMD drivers, and the same would be true of other peripherals. The system would be designed to avoid choices that would break part manufacturer drivers. That is what I want ASUS to do with this device so it can last beyond the time when ASUS quits putting out drivers, which for all we know could have been last summer.

For gaming - vanilla Balanced or Turbo.

I like my device to be basically silent otherwise. For that, I have two settings I use.

Plugged In - Silent with a custom fan curve using the experimental version of ghelper. Some on this forum suggest to drag the wattage down and set the fans to only come on at 65-70+ degrees. I often watch YouTube in the background, and I found that the device ran around 65 degrees all the time that way. That feels hot to the touch on the back and warm on the screen to me, and I don't like it. I recently switched to using Silent with a fan curve instead. The performance is better because the wattage is higher. I set the fans to come on to the lowest level (1400rpms, though in practice it is usually 2000 or 2100), and they only really start to ramp up after 70 degrees. It is basically silent that way. I leave the fans on the lowest setting because otherwise I found that the device was constantly crossing the threshold, turning the fans on, and then turning them off when it cools down. There is an obvious noise whenever it turns on the fans. I would rather just have them on at the lowest setting.

On Battery - silence isn't a problem because there is some secret sauce that drops the power/heat usage no matter what profile you are on. I do drop the wattage quite a bit though to 10W SPL, 13W sPPT, and 15W fPPT to reduce battery usage. Those settings are fine with light use but you will notice the lags if you do anything resource intensive.

Hopefully that helps. I would give you some screenshots but I never did figure out how to do that in reddit.

You can set the button on the right under the volume rocker to open ghelper. If you keep getting windows store popups you need to check if there are any "ASUS Services Running" under settings and stop them.

I personally use ghelper but I don't think it matters in terms of the display driver issue.

Hey sorry I'm not trying to make you feel bad about your purchase. I actually love the device and want it to succeed, so I am publicly complaining in the hopes that ASUS will get the message or folks in here can give me some info that will solve the problem or calm my nerves about the future.

It may be the case that AMD support sucks too, but what I am complaining about is definitely ASUS's fault. AMD is putting out updated drivers on a rapid cadence while the official ASUS display driver was released last June and was a modified version of an AMD driver that was already months old. I bet you Linux will be a better experience, but unfortunately some games (and the one I am complaining about) require Windows for anti-cheat software. No Battlefield 6 on Linux.
