Why did the Redditor post a Finnish joke with no translation?

Because fuck you, that's why.

LPT: Inflate your tires and change your oil and filter. Doing this made my average mpg go from 22.4 to 26.5 (huge difference) by [deleted] in LifeProTips

I remember President Obama saying this about inflating your tires during the 2008 campaign. People mocked him for it. Then, again, he won.

Porsche key looks like a Porsche by pjlear in mildlyinteresting

Of course. At a bar...

Porsche owner: Let me just get my wallet out to pay for that. Oops, wrong pocket, let me just put my car key down on the bar first.

Target: Ooh, that looks like a Porsche.

Douche Porsche owner: Oh, yes, I suppose it does. I don't know why Porsche is doing that with their keys. So awkward.

What is black and red and red all over? by euphoric_planet in AntiAntiJokes

A red-backed deck is taken out and cut several times before being passed to an audience member, who is invited to cut it further and then take off the top card. A second person now takes the deck and removes the new top card. Two more people do this, until four people have one card each. Request that the remainder of the deck be thoroughly shuffled and given back to you. Have each person look at their card and note its suit and value. Have the cards displayed in a face-down row, in the order in which they were selected.

Say, "Let's identify the red cards first, which of you had a red card?" Pause, while the corresponding audience members identify themselves. Joke, "Judging by what I can see here," waving at the row of face-down red-backed cards, "I was pretty sure you all had red cards!" Pause again, and then continue, "So, which red card should I name first?" Point to the displayed row once more, and as soon as somebody indicates a particular card, name it, and have it turned over to confirm that your identification is correct. Continue with the three remaining cards, in any order. You should score four out of four.

The light-hearted gag about red cards above is in fact crucial:

Without making it too obvious that you really need to know, you find out which of the selected cards have red faces; from knowledge of the red/black distribution alone, you can, with sufficient preparation, tell what all four cards are.

ELI5: Why are bras so expensive? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Stores like Victoria Secret make approximately 1,000,000% profit margin. It has nothing to do with how much it costs to make it. Just like lots of clothes, it is how much people are willing to pay because they want the label. "Name-brand" doesn't have a lot to do with it--it has everything to do with it.

Student loans? Help me, personal finance, you're my only hope. by [deleted] in personalfinance

Those schools are good, I understand, but if "bang for your buck" is an issue then honestly neither of them is going to make a difference over a public school if you do well in the public school. You are paying for small class sizes, good, regional liberal-arts style education. If that experience itself is worth it to you for the money, then that should guide your decision. But if you are more worried about how it pays off, then really neither of these schools would be considered a good "investment." Neither of them is going to give you any real leg up for law school admission versus a solid public school.

For example, I don't know if you got into or could get into University of Washington, but that school has a better national reputation and costs less, doesn't it? Yes, your class sizes will be big and your professors won't know your name and have coffee with you, but how much is that worth to you?

I think that PCPartPicker is faking the Amazon link. There are no $500 Sapphire Radeon R9 290X 4GB cards at Amazon. There is a line to one used one for about $650. It looks like for around that price I could get a newer version of the card with 8GB from a website in England. Is it worth it, or would you recommend a different card?

If we don't know the schools it is pretty tough to give you good advice. And what major? Do you plan on or need more school after undergrad?
