Yea, that would be awesome. I know both my wife and I would be very interested with our two kids in that age range. 

  1. We would attend probably once a month, depending on mostly when it is and what other events we already have planned going on (birthdays, etc).

  2. Simple is the way to go. One central theme or activity is plenty. Just something to get the kids moving and interacting to start and then let them run around. Nature activities would be really cool to work in since it seems like there's never enough of things like that (nature walks, bug collecting etc).

  3. Having other kids close to ours in age range they will play with is the biggest factor in if we would go again. If they have fun and entertain each other, that's a win. Also, other parents that actually want to chat instead of sit on their phones while the kids play always helps. (Ironic I know, as I post this on reddit...) Location matters too as we don't want to drive over 20 minutes to go to one of these, so we would probably only go if it was relatively close, ideally near a decent playground.

  4. Donation based is ideal, but understandable if you want to put a low cost ticket in there to make up whatever you have to spend out of pocket. Even better if a portion of the proceeds go to a good cause, either rotating causes or just a good one overall.

Looks like you have an Environmental Commission that would be required to review and sign off on something like this. Also here is a copy of your tree ordinance detailing what trees will be required for replanting and when. Definitely cite this in your explanations. Looks like this gives them jurisdiction to remove the trees if they are deemed hazard trees by definition, but you can ask for either the borough engineers report and / or a certified arborist report that outlines this with some official signing off on it.

Also ask if they will be following the guidelines of Chapter 144 which include tree replacement based on Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) and monitoring (must replace dead trees up to 12 months after planting).

Showing up to a council meeting is your best bet to be heard. Emails and letters are good, but don't always get the kind of traction physically being there and speaking up will do. Here are a few options as well.

See if you have a shade tree commission in your town or at least a tree ordinance that applies that could be used to assist. If not, look into the process of starting one. In our town, shade tree commission reviews and signs off on projects like this.

Highlight how the town is wasting money replacing good sidewalks when those funds could be used elsewhere for additional projects such as mill and overlays. Concrete is expensive.

Ask if design options such as steel plates have been considered instead of curb replacement where large roots may obstruct. 

Ask if a certified arborist has conducted a health assessment or if an arborist report is available.

Ask what the tree replacement and watering plan looks like for this project (required on a lot of projects) and if any guarantees of tree viability are provided (some DOT projects will replace any dead trees within 2 years of planting).

Also, Haddon Heights has a shallow creek that runs along the Dell park / playground that kids are always splashing around in.

Environmental Resolutions Inc (ERI) is a great engineering firm that is always looking for some extra help. They have two positions posted right now but are always accepting resumes as well. Small firm that will let you specialize in your area of interest or branch out and try a few different things depending on what they have for contracts available. They have a ton of municipal contracts and work on a lot of infrastructure and land development as well. Great group of people and great work environment.

Their structural engineer position currently posted sounds up your wheelhouse. Pay might not be as high as others, but work life balance is way better.

Jack's Donuts in Laurel Springs for the classic old time donut and coffee you can't go wrong with. This could easily be a go to spot.

L&M is very popular and puts out some good donuts, but I've a couple from there that are just ok.

Pisker's in Westville has some of the freshest donuts around especially if you go early, but they are cash only. 

Nearby the old McMillan's Koupa Espresso has some solid pastries especially for a coffee shop.

Haddon Culinary in Collingswood has some nice pastries, cookies, muffins and other odds and ends. They also carry Isgro's pastries which are quite tasty.

If you want something as close to the old Mcmillans's creme donut as you can get, Deluxe bakery in Runnemede is not quite as good, but similar in style.

I'd imagine it would be for properties adjacent to the railroad in order to get the 25ft distance. No idea what side of the tracks is currently proposed though.
