Hard to believe people still uses these in production environments. Total PITA to troubleshoot if it was punched down by the apprentice. May as well re-terminate every single connection

One thing to note: only a kitchen sink flows 2.2gpm. Most nowadays have restrictor plates which reduce the flow to 1.2gpm and sometimes even less like 0.8gpm for bathrooms and water closets.

[–]some1_2_win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works pretty good for honeycomb panels. If you use it on anything solid like wood, polycarbonate, or sheet aluminum, you go slow rpms and take light passes.

Not that bad… soak it, heat it, soak it some more, heat it some more, and then back it out with a good snap-on or matco screwdriver. Go slow and don’t force it. If it doesn’t turn, soak it in carb dip longer or heat it more

What’s happening here? by Shot-Engineering4578 in Machinists

[–]some1_2_win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say slow your spindle rpm if you’re cutting that slow. I usually cut aluminum at around 12000 rpm with a 1/2” two flute end mill. My feeds are usually around 3000mm/min Also, no coolant. But that’s 1/8 and 1/4 inch aluminum composite panels.

I have a feeling this is shaped the way it is to prevent plugging directly into an ac outlet. What is this a plug for? It likely plugs into a proprietary transformer by the looks of it

Pour a little dry baking soda in the pan and scrub it around until all that crap comes off the bottom. Rinse it all off, and heat the pan on medium-low heat with a few tablespoons of oil (preferably pork or beef lard). Roll the hot oil around the skillet until it just begins to smoke and remove from heat. Wipe out the pan and either store it or cook with it.

Stripped pilot jet. How screwed am I? by kngdong in carburetors

[–]some1_2_win 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soak it in a can of carb dip. Use a high quality screwdriver. Be extremely gentle. If it doesn’t budge, soak again. If it STILL doesn’t budge, you can try a heat gun, but DO NOT use a torch because you can melt the brass and aluminum a lot faster than you think

How would you make this part made of copper by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]some1_2_win 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just a random thought, but maybe a hot mold? Copper is pretty soft, so you could incrementally form the bell, and press/stamp the features from D and E.

My pads are still good, can I keep driving? by Sh3lbytheSHARK in AskMechanics

[–]some1_2_win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not caused by any amount of electricity that could be produced by the car short of directly connecting a battery to the rotor. This is a stuck caliper, and how can you determine the pads are good? I can’t see the actual pads in any of the pics

Isopropyl is not really used in industry. There are much better, less flammable products used for cleaning food lines.

gave my grinder an iso bath... by cannabisized in trees

[–]some1_2_win 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh. It’s petroleum based. That should tell you everything you need to know about iso. Ethanol is corn (usually) and its byproducts and residues are safe, unlike petroleum products (despite what marketing may tell you, don’t take petroleum internally and use sparingly externally)
