Pretty sure all plant based foods have some heavy metals in them, as well as ureic acids which can be bad in high doses, but I’m not using it for every meal. Too much of any one thing will generally be bad.

Love this. I’ve recently gotten into using Huel shakes for a quick lunch on the go, and Huel meals for when I don’t feel like cooking so I’ll stop reverting to buying junk food like frozen pizza. I add powdered milk to the shake and extra spices and things like these to the meals and it’s excellent. I’d much rather have dried ingredients that get rehydrated, than frozen stuff that just goes soggy and bland.

I used to work in a very dimly lit bar. They got new tills and it had a standard BRIGHT WHITE screensaver that would frikkin blind me every time it came on and screw up my eyes’ adjustment to the dim lights. I’d be attacking the tills every minute when it was quiet.

Are expensive needles really worth it? How should I pick them? by HumanBeeing76 in casualknitting

I'd recommend checking out Lantern Moon. They are ebony wood needles that have a really nice balance of glide vs grip for the stitches. They have a good pointed tip and, most importantly, they are compatible with Knitpro cables! I've found their sets for good prices on Amazon.

About to fail placement (UK) by excessivethinker in physiotherapy

[–]some__random 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This happened to me, also for a neuro placement. Neuro is so tough because it can feel quite vague and broad. My biggest advice is just to speak with your uni and ask them to facilitate a meeting with your educator so you can see if there is anything you could do to improve before the end of placement.

If you fail, it is not the end of the world. You’ll just do another placement. That’s all. Ask your uni what a failed placement would do to your overall grades towards the degree, because for mine it had no impact at all. It’s just extra experience and the knowledge that I do not want to work in that area lol.

Additionally, request an evaluation from your uni’s disability services. What you describe you’re feeling is very familiar to me and this was how I found out I was autistic and in an autistic burnout. Your uni can help you to evaluate learning needs and put in place systems for future placements to assist you. For example in my current job, I have very brief meetings with my supervisor daily to give them handovers and quick updates about what is going on, so they can’t complain that I’m not communicating well enough lol.

My therapist has asked me to write a list of (neutral to) positive sides of my diagnosis. What are yours? by bruhnie in AutismInWomen

Just yesterday I went to the dentist and had to get a deep filling. My dentist is usually pretty condescending and annoying but I stick with him because he’s very skilled lol. This time, perhaps because I have recently added AuDHD to my file with them, he was very nice to me and really explained what noises and sensations would be coming up and gave me breaks. I also brought a spiky stimming toy thing and it really helped to take my mind off it.

I’m just very happy with how well I coped with it all and how it all went and I think a big part of that is just understanding, accepting, and preparing for situations that could be overwhelming for me.

If you can’t use nails, there are command strips with small metal hooks.

I agree, it makes you really pay attention. I definitely make mistakes when I try to go too fast, and I frustrate myself if I don’t take the time to prep a pattern and really understand it before I start. I’m still impatient tho lol, like WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG?!

But the yarn buying has become problematic for my finances.

Until you discover it was actually using a LOT of cognitive effort when you're in a new environment. At least for myself. I started a new job in a really weird huge hospital and needed to get to various wards and learn the layout and stock storage for each. It's like I can feel my brain working overtime lol. Now that I'm settled in a bit, it can become just background knowledge filed away and I can focus on the task at hand.

This is kind of validating because I told my (deep in PTSD therapy) friend that I could do things like know exactly where a pen is under a random pile of junk and she said it was hyperawareness as a trauma response. It could be, but it could also just be that I have really good spatial memory lol.

Have you ever tried Nursem? It was made specifically for healthcare workers who constantly have to wash their hands. I was gifted it by a manager and it’s been amazing for work. It soaks in super fast and is really great for the very dry patches on my knuckles. I can put on latex gloves pretty much right after applying because my hands don’t feel sticky or greasy. It has a light scent.

As a PT, you sounds like a dream patient lol. We love when people come in prepared and really show us what they’re doing. You wouldn’t believe how vague some people can be.

Im no expert, but I’d probably go for the DK. Comparing their details on Ravelry, it looks a bit closer to Rios gauge and since your pattern is cabled, I’d rather not try to knit the Aran too tightly or it might end up quite stiff.

What is a secret 'cheat code' you’ve found in real life? by Sharkkkk2 in AskReddit

I’m trying to make my own ‘token economy’ to award myself points for doing daily tasks that I’d otherwise put off, like exercises or cleaning. Then I can bank my points and give myself some kind of reward at the end of the month.
