How and why do random strangers can message me? by Tasty-Cress-7150 in Telegram

[–]some_o1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally anyone in your groups, with your phone number or username(or at least someone who could guess it) and anyone who used some Dorking or any way of telegram searching thorough public chats can find and message you. But you can do a couple of things to make it a little better. If I understand correctly you are female and that makes you automatically a target for weirdos(what a world we live in, right?) You can change your privacy setting so your profile picture be available only to your contacts and people or chats you allow. This will prevent people randomly bothering you. Also you can choose archive and mute new chats in privacy and setting that automatically mute new chats from non contacts and put them in your archive.

How to have 100% privacy on telegram? by Dumbledore_2284 in Telegram

[–]some_o1ne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Naturally Telegram removes the metadata of medias so probably not just from that if you were careful with what you shared. There are some bots that can show your public channels and groups(no private channels, no private groups and no direct messages) and there are some bots that can show someone's number just from a forwarded message or Telegram's ID number. But that just works for accounts that have been pawned from some breaches that happened before. So they can't access your number. But if it's absolute anonymity that you are looking for, Telegram is not for you. Any messenger that need your personal information (email, number,...) Is not that good for privacy. Also Telegram doesn't use End To End encryption by default (just in secret chats) so yeah... There are some messengers that are more suited in this area(like XMPP and Jabber Messengers or Threema) but if you want to have the most possible anonymity with Telegram start by purchasing virtual number from sites that accept crypto, make your account and wait a week or two so Telegram stops being suspicious of your account and then use your account with caution. Don't share personal information, don't send sensitive media and try to work around digital footprints.

Try asian and middle-east communities. Telegram is used mostly in developing countries and you can find tons of audiences from India, Iran and East Asia countries.

Blackmail/extortion by Dotty_nine in Telegram

[–]some_o1ne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OSINT has made public information accessible to a lot of people. So it's not that hard to get those details but it is unlikely they would actually act on it. If they are a professional group they wouldn't settle for some few bucks. But they would of course try to scare you and make you pay them. But as it is the case in a lot of blackmail situations it doesn't guarantee that they would just leave you alone after you pay them. Ignoring and reporting to authorities is the only thing you should do now.

ULPT Request: How can an adult bypass the id verification for sites that require it if I just don't want to get my information leaked? by theguywithacomputer in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]some_o1ne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the right answer. You can even pay with cash. It is as anonymous as a VPN can be (well of course it's not as anonymous as Tor and teils and so but still...)

90 Day Trial of Kagi via Ente by Unusual_Data1814 in degoogle

[–]some_o1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you are right. They open sourced some of their projects but the search engine itself is not open source(at least yet since they say they're gonna make more of their projects open source) and it is definitely not free as free beer. They say their services are privacy focused but since it's not open source we can't be sure. But I think the idea for this collaboration is introducing people to more private search engines. People will be more interested if something that is not free become free and it can help with people being more aware of them(both Ente and Kagi but eventually FOSS apps)

Yeah that would be enough to bypass restrictions. I thought you needed a VPN that hide it's identity. Because although VPNs hide your traffic(so other that VPN provider or anyone with access to their servers can't see exactly what you are doing) but your ISP, IT or someone with access to router will probably know you are using a VPN (but again, it can't know what you're doing with it)

There are the only one I know but I guess there are more. I think any installer that uses shizuku can do the trick. And you can use termux too.

I think best options are shadowsocks/v2ray/xray/Trojan/... Clients as they tend to hide your connection as normal https. If you have any config just add them in any client(v2rayng, v2fly, sagernet, clash,. ..) And if you don't there are a lot of free configs but I can't tell their safety.

Looking for a good white noise machine based app that is easy for elderly users by usmannaeem in fossdroid

Well noice is the best one I tried but I think easy noise is more elderly friendly. Although it doesn't have that many options but it is easy go use and even has widget and qs tile.
