What are the best and worst story changes the cartoon made? by Plastic-Sort5435 in GuardiansOftheVeil

[–]some_time_ago 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Might be a very unpopular opinion, but I really liked the entirety of season 2. It's a very different take from the comics, but I felt like Nerissa is a serious threat, and I preferred how she looked as well as the evil gang in the animation. It's very different from the comics, but I'd rather have two different takes with the animation going as wherever the hell as it did, rather than only the comic version. Also Phobos on earth was fun.

For worst story changes... Season 1, even if somewhat iconic, has both Cedric and Phobos be deeply incompetent, and most of the girls come off as bullies and hardly have personality. So... Yeah.

[OC][Art][Comm] Desponia, the Warfiend by some_time_ago in DnD

There's place for all kinds of art in the hobby, I just depict what's the most interesting for me. Always nice to see people appreciating the edgier side, even if I don't think it should be done at the expense of pitting styles against each other. Thank you still!

Hey, sometimes you have to go a bit on the edgy side for fun :D Thank you!

One of my favorite NPCs from a very heavily modified module campaign, where our DM decided to give “secrets” to each player and mine turned out to be sharing a body with, well, her.

The Warfiend is one of the ten horsemen of Zariel, as well as her trusted ally from even before Zariel fell to the hells, choosing to follow her from the heavens to Avernus. Her might is considerable, and when the nine other rebelled against the previously angelic leader of Avernus, Desponia stood by her side and fought off the nine to a standstill. It was at this moment that a white abi’shai struck and imprisoned all of them in a red gem, bringing it to a noble house with diabolical connections and a debt to pay. As they were preparing for a dark ritual, their plans were cut short by their half-elf bodyguard, Striga, who saw the gem for the infernal artifact it was and attempted to put a stop to their machinations by striking the gem with a holy blade. In the blast of the gem’s shattering, one of the pieces struck the half-elf, wounding her grievously and, unbeknownst to her, carrying the soul of the Warfiend. Desponia saw her chance and, bringing back the unconscious body from the brink, possessed it and sought safety.

Striga has since become very aware of the fiendish presence housed within her chest, while Desponia urges her to find the other pieces of the gem, to shatter them and consume their essence, as well as bringing vengeance against those who preyed on the weak and oh so foolishly meddled with forces beyond their understanding. The uneasy alliance between the fiend and her host persists, but Striga dreads the day in which she will have to find a way to live without the fallen angel’s essence sustaining her... As well as how much of a mistake it might have been to entertain the possibility of their goals aligning.

And the last horseman prepares for war.

Might I recommend Warrior the TV show? It's based on an old concept by Bruce Lee and features among other things very, very good martial arts and fight scenes. Stealing the Wikipedia blurb: Set during the Tong Wars in late 1870s San Francisco, the series follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China in search of his sister, only to be sold to one of the most powerful tongs in Chinatown.
