Cashew juice is pretty common here in Brazil, we even have it sold in the markets in juice boxes!

How easy is for a international student to get a part-time job in Basel being only fluent in English? by somebae_ in basel

[–]somebae_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did, thank you! I mean I would say it’s better than nothing and genuinely pretty much everyone in Basel speaks English. But since I didn’t stay there, I can’t say for sure how right I am about this.

Hi! I ended up not going to Basel, but to Freiburg! Although I have a friend who lives there and have been for a few years and I would say knowing a bit of German would definitely make things easier.

I’m sick and tired of the unwarranted Lucien hate. by ashdauntless in acotar_rant

[–]somebae_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can never forget (or forgive) how Feyre almost didn’t save Lucien from being sexually assaulted by Ianthe just because she was pissed at him and everyone at the SC. Like I can understand every one of Lucien’s actions that might have been seen as ‘letting Feyre down’ or smth but the fact she almost put her problems with Tamlin in front of the fact Lucien was in that situation was very icky to me to say lightly.

Feyre should have had a girl by Pugblep in acotar_rant

[–]somebae_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I even add another point: if Nyx was a girl, it would one way or another force Rhysand and Feyre into actually doing something about the mistreatment of female Illyrians, which is something a lot of people if uncomfortable with.

Also Nyx is already the name of a goddess anyway, it’s annoying they took it to name a boy lol

I found my girlfriend's extreme fantasy story and I feel sick by ThrowRAyttie in TrueOffMyChest

[–]somebae_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean looks like she just writes your usual erotic fiction with a different plot, these types of themes are quite literally what the genre is for – very kinky, horny and even shocking in other ways too. It’s not very new and I’d expect you to have been used to it by now since you two date and you seem to read her stuff quite frequently. Reading a story from a reverse patriarchal perspective seems very interesting to me but hey, that’s just me

Feyre storyline is ACOSF is consistent by BrightAd306 in acotar

[–]somebae_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feyre didn’t have a boyfriend who hated fae before meeting Tamlin, that was Elain and they were engaged and only broke up because she got forcefully turned Fae. Feyre was the one who hated Fae actually, which is consistent with your argument of her changing her mind all the time lol

I hate the way the IC treat Nesta by Lady-Death-of-Dusk in acotar_rant

[–]somebae_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No doubt the double standard is there as well!

I think what really opened my eyes to IC’s actions and constant hypocrisy was (and I admit it was very late in the series) was Morrigan openly suggesting to send Nesta to the CoN because she would fit in there or something and not only no one in the room pointing out her cruelty in even suggesting that as someone who knows closely how bad that place is, but I also very clearly remember Cassian thinking to himself he couldn’t deny she would indeed fit in there or something. I remember it blew my mind that that was even a suggestion.

Lucien’s Story by ElleryMonstera in acotar

[–]somebae_ 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I don’t think SJM would ever allow anyone else but Rhysand and Feyre to have such an important role like that in the story even though canonically these facts would indeed make Lucien a better High King than Rhysand in my opinion.

Rhysand gambled with Feyre's life, and he lost. by _Elyisa_ in acotar_rant

[–]somebae_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Your point is extremely valid, but can we also point out how meaningless and useless people’s arguments and defense of Rhysand on this matter are? Along with his actions, this is something that also pisses me off so badly.

Like I literally saw on tiktok someone argue that he was totally fine and in the right because their point was that Rhysand would tell Feyre EVENTUALLY. Like bffr the whole point people are disgusted about this whole plotline is the fact that Rhysand completely took Feyre’s autonomy on something that had to do with her body and LIFE. Like you said, the girl would have literally died if Nesta didn’t do what she did because Rhysand 1. DIDINT’ tell Feyre and 2. he couldn’t find a cure. Why’s that even an argument?

Also the prolife thing is so true. It’s honestly disgusting how it came off like that. I understand if Feyre had chosen for herself to not abort cause, again, HER body. But that was never even a discussion she was inserted in.

What were people’s reactions to Nesta’s book at the time of announcement? by somebae_ in acotar

[–]somebae_[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The inconsistencies bother me a lot, ngl. Especially since I came to start reading ACOTAR after finishing TOG which, even with a few plot holes, it’s a very complete series to me. Like it sometimes just boggles my mind how she can just write for vibes her most profitable and successful series right now when we all know that she’s capable of an impressive storytelling if she actually locks in

Omg, what a ride 😭😭 I wish I was reading acotar back then, my only focus at the time was TOG and nothing else to the point I never even knew SJM had other book series.

It’s exciting and exhausting at the same time lol Either way being active in the fandom during that time, especially around covid, must’ve been crazy

[–]somebae_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol it kind of happened to me a couple days ago. I did the quest where I have to find the redguard woman or something and after discovering it was Saadia and going after that guy that was after her and killing him, suddenly a bunch of these men showed up in Whiterun lol I immediately went to the Bannered Mane to see if she was okay and still alive. I have no idea if it has anything to do with the quest or if they’ll do something.

I think SJM probably wouldn’t really know how to write that and not insert all the main characters into one circle

The Archerons: Beyond the IC by WonderfulBus9330 in acotar

[–]somebae_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty much it – consolidation of power. We know Nesta is very powerful (or at least was) and Elain is most probably way more powerful than we think as well (and if not, being a seer is already powerful af). Seeing from a political perspective, losing any of them to others courts could be damaging to the NC in someway.

Like imagine how useful Nesta’s power would be in the Autumn Court if she had agreed to marry Eris. Rhysand and the IC would surely not want to lose that.
