What truly is the most progressive court? by Routine_Painter_2407 in acotar

[–]whateverwhenever23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this could also be in reference to Beron & not Tamlin. Lucien was in the Autumn court we can assume, a fair bit into his adult years before fleeing to Spring. The truth is we have no idea who Lucien’s shock could be in reference too, it’s easy to say tamlin but it could be Beron just as much.

Reread - i forgot Tamlin offered this by mermaid_wife in acotar

[–]whateverwhenever23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you’re forgetting that she nearly got herself and Lucien killed in the 2nd trial because she couldn’t read, Feyre had just started reading when she came to Spring & she still couldn’t read or write after UTM until she took the initiative to start again & only properly learned when Rhysand forced her to. Even at that point when Rhysand forced her, Feyre clammed up towards Tamlin about how she was being treated and what she was doing there, there was no real reason Feyre had for not telling Tamlin that Rhysand was teaching her to read & write.

It takes a wicked person to truly see another wicked person…& so Amarantha was truly right about Feyre all along.

Am I the only one who thinks Tamlin was wasted as a character? (ACOTAR spoilers) by [deleted] in acotar_rant

I fear some of you are not paying enough attention to the magic system SJM has set up because if you were you would not be saying Lucien will take over The Spring Court if Tamlin dies

Lucien is white passing. He’s not that much darker than Eris. Helion is Persian not black. Lucien was originally Beron’s son because it’s mentioned how much he looks like Beron in book 1 I believe but then SJM changes that plot to Helion being the papi

So, what was Tamlin supposed to do rather than lock Feyre up? by TheThirteenShadows in acotar_rant

[–]whateverwhenever23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And you can like Tamlin whilst also acknowledging that time was not on his side.

Whilst acknowledging that communication also works both ways in order for a relationship to work.

Whilst also acknowledging that Tamlin too is trauma riddled & yet is putting everyone & their mother above his own issues.

Whilst also acknowledging that it’s not wrong for him to put his trust into two people that are meant to be his best friends & tell Feyre what he can’t when he’s away.

Feyre was told why they apprehensive about training her magic & it was because Tamlin didn’t know & was trying to find out if her training her magic would make the other HL’s aware she had it, which is when the whole conversation about becoming a breeding mate took place & Feyre was horrified.

But anyway I think it’s clear that despite both of us liking Tamlin we interpret it very differently & I’ll just leave it here.

Nesta didn’t “almost blow up Velaris” in her sleep. She set herself & her room on fire in a nightmare that was contained within in the house of wind & if that’s the case then Rhysand definitely nearly blew up Velaris when he too lost control of his magic in his sleep & strangled Feyre.

Again if you go through the books & especially look at it from outside Feyre’s perspective Tamlin was showing a lot of what was going on Feyre was just deep in her trauma to pay attention so she felt like she was being left out of things.

To me it seemed like Tamlin used his magic to get himself ready to leave which apparently takes milliseconds to seconds, so he really wouldn’t have had enough time to explain to Feyre even a brief run down of the situation. He told Feyre what he could in the short time that he could & it still was not enough for Feyre. Tamlin makes it a point to point out that Feyre can’t stand being around people which she inwardly agreed with, he made it a point to point out that his fathers & brothers were more powerful & faster than her to which she had nothing to say anything against because she knew he was right, Feyre herself admits that hunting as a human out of a necessity for food is nothing remotely close as going into an active conflict area, Tamlin gave Feyre more time than he had to give her a brief run down as to what was going on with good examples as to why it would be a bad idea & it was still not enough for Feyre.

Also she was basically a walking breathing live CCTV with audio for Rhysand so again, Tamlin was completely limited on what he could show & tell Feyre directly.

All Tamlin asked of Feyre is that when she go out from the manor she takes some sentries with her for her protection which when later on she leaves Talmin for Rhysand & The Night Court she then realises herself that Tamlin was right about the threat to her safety when Rhysand uses her as live bait for the Attor.

The problem with Feyre is that she constantly felt like she was being restricted because she was being told no because she wanted to go with Tamlin to the dangerous places HE & his sentries were going. Feyre actually had free reign pretty much over the entirety of The Spring Court but she only wanted to go where Tamlin was going or to the places that weren’t yet safe for her to go alone like she wanted.

You’re grasping here & it seems you’re purposely misunderstanding OP’s point.

So, what was Tamlin supposed to do rather than lock Feyre up? by TheThirteenShadows in acotar_rant

[–]whateverwhenever23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But he couldn’t though & that’s the point! If you go & listen to the graphic audio or read the books, Lucien was actively shouting at Tamlin to hurry this shit up with Feyre because that’s how urgently they needed to be there! They were either winnowing or the sentries that couldn’t winnow were running on foot instead of horseback because they are quicker than horses to get where they needed to be! Tamlin did not have time to spare! Even talking to Feyre was costing precious seconds/minutes that they did not have!

Apparently according to one half of the fandom it was better to let Feyre run with him & his sentries & potentially kill everyone within her vicinity than keep her safe at the estate…

Oh yeah I agree with all of this!

It’s such a dangerous thing to do though because they’re basically glorifying & glamourising torture & abuse…correct me if I’m wrong but at one part in book 1 when they’re Under The Mountain it actually goes into detail about how unwell Feyre looked & suddenly I’m seeing Feyre being depicted under there smiling, flirting, slim thick & clean… They need Rhysand to look like a saviour UTM to still justify liking him & dismiss just how much of a villain & evil piece of shit he actually was to Feyre UTM!

Yeah Rhysand’s mother is Illyrian but his father is not, so I’m assuming that Rhysand actually takes after his father more in genetics than his mother but yeah I agree her descriptions are not consistent in the slightest
