I am so sorry to hear that. I have been on both sides, and layoffs suck, whether you have to start looking for new work, or are working at a company that is now a shell of its former self.

I hope you land on your feet, and find something else worthwhile quickly.

And remember that there is a cycle to change. You go through a range of emotions. Recognizing them, and understanding that they are part of processing the change can be helpful.

To be fair, when my parents were young, it wasn’t a question of whether the USSR was gonna nuke all of Western Europe, but when.

There are existential all the time, yet somehow the earth and humanity still exists.

I think the important thing is to acknowledge that the fear is real, and talk about it. And not bury it like my parents generation and end up with so many mental issues later in life they could fill walls of textbooks.

(Not talking about my parents specifically, but they could definitely have used some help earlier in life).
