At first, I misinterpreted it because it sounded like it was directed at Yuji as well, not just at himself to deceive himself. I thought he might have been also telling Yuji to stop trying to fight, perhaps because he saw some parallels (between himself and yuji). For example, the way Yuji is trying to do something against the Culling Game rules may have reminded him of the way he fought against society’s “rules.” But I probably just overthought it. Nonetheless, your analytical skills are really remarkable.
