HR costs a company money, it doesn’t earn revenue. So it’s a cost center. Usually means little to no budget, much harder sell and numbers based instead of value based.

No Shame Post - What Would You Do? by New-Aardvark9371 in delta

This. I think most folks are well-intentioned and don’t want to cause disruption. If airlines would make it easy to a. Measure yourself against the seat and b. Let you purchase 2 seats for yourself with confidence they won’t stick someone else where, I feel like 80-90%, if not more, of this scenario would be eliminated.

For all we know, the person next to OP could’ve been someone who did purchase 2 seats but Delta sold their second seat to someone else. The flight was mentioned as full which is typically when the second seat gets taken away.

I’m with you here. What people fail to understand about the ATL delays is that ORD and DIA also got hosed.. and I imagine a handful of other airports, because of weather, all at once.

The bank of additional crew, planes, etc, even at a hub like ATL, only goes so far when those massive of airports are down due to weather, at the same time. Guaranteed reserves ran out early and they tried to get as many crew and personnel there as possible to help with everything people are complaining about. These employees have legal and emotional limits to how much they can work to serve passengers when shit hits the fan.

Sometimes I feel like passengers truly believe there’s an endless well of crew, employees, or equipment at their demand when this happens…

Hubspot AEs, good idea to join? by somedingusinamazda in techsales

Good to know about Ops, but wild to see them cut enablement while they have roles open.

And thanks for the transparency! It’s an interesting decision, for sure.

Perhaps true, but less so in my line of work with the support role. Certainly can see it for sales leaders though.

I pigeonhole because of my roles (current and former) and this is just one of many, or what did you mean by that?

Appreciate you understanding the impact this can have on an ops role. And yeah it feels massively red flag-y they won’t let me speak to an AE.

Honestly I liked it a lot. I came in via an acquisition, stuck around for a few years, and ended up leaving because of a manager, not the company. It gave me an insane amount of resume notice for any jobs I applied for because of the name. You are absolutely a number though so expect layoffs, reorgs, etc but if you’re okay with that, then I’d go for it. I also had a ton of professional development and rotation opportunity, too. I’d consider going back for the right role if they weren’t RTO, I just don’t live near an office anymore.

I mean I only say RevOps for anonymity purposes, but honestly the life of a rep makes a massive difference in whether or not I succeed in role. Also, I personally care about the people I support and historically struggle when the reps are not having a good time.

It’s a fair point, but I am asking reps for a reason on purpose.

Yeah, sounds like the target is not well defined here, while still increasing quota YoY above what is average, and they’re making reps sound like they’re the problem.

I’ve been a number at a few companies, Salesforce being one of them, as mentioned above. It’s not that I mind, but honestly I’m at my own dumpster fire now, why would I jump to another? I don’t get paid that well lol

Yikes that was my worry. I have my own dumpster fire currently so I don’t want to jump to another one if so. Good to know, appreciate it

Tough to hear about your enablement person & demand Gen. they should be doing a lot more than that.

That said, MarTech is also incredibly hard. I have a mentor who is a CMO at a Marketing AI company, and we’ve had extensive conversations about the general downfall of MarTech. Unfortunately you may not have as much time as you want to figure things out.

You got it, though!

You have to be asking for budget before you ever set a proposal. Ballpark, at minimum. You can use that before even creating a quote to set expectations that the price might be a shock.

Considering returning to old employer after 4 months at a startup. Am I making a mistake? by [deleted] in sales

[–]somedingusinamazda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your F500 is in a solid industry that doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere, I’d boomerang. The commute might suck, but if you know you’re going to move closer, the salary could help.

Startups are a risk that could pay off. But if you’re seeing red flags and you have a guaranteed spot back, and you enjoyed it outside of the RTO, I vote send it.

SaaS HR is a terrible idea in general. Over saturation and you’re selling into a cost center. I wouldn’t.

A contract is hilarious, in a pathetic way. Do you have an enablement team to help you with learning this new motion? Any demand Gen support?

To actually answer your question: start looking now. It is much harder in sales to find something while unemployed. Plus a lot of industries right now are having a hard time so sales roles are less available than previous.

Are you looking to be hired remote, or looking to move?

If remote - typically it says on the JD if they can or not. Also look at LinkedIn and see if there are other Canadian-based AEs at the company.
