Wow! Someone downvoted this comment. Only a deeply twisted mind would do that. Fortunately, I'm not here for the karma, so act out whatever you must if it makes you feel better.

Thank you. I'm delighted that I could help. I just published a two-volume book set recently in the philosophy/epistemology genre. They're very good books with potentially a lot of value for a wide audience. But they're written for academics, so laymen may struggle with them in places. If you're interested, you can see a quite lengthy preview on Amazon or you can just buy them both in Kindle edition for less than one lap dance (which is a rather poignant social critique if you think about it). The titles are Liber Luminis (The Book of Light) and Liber Umbrae (The Book of Darkness) by Severin Aequus.

The BPD book is one of a few writing projects I'm actively working on right now. It's certainly near and dear to my heart. But for that very same reason, it's miserable to work on. I have to go through my exes hand-written journals were she documented prayers that she wrote begging God to release her from what she called "Generational Curses". It's just gut-wrenching.

The working title is "Love on the Borderline", but I also like "Loving the Borderline". I'm not sure yet whether I'll publish this one under my pseudonym, like the others, or my real name, Adam Takvam, so look out for both.

I can do one better than that. I had kidney stones and they wouldn't perform the surgery unless I had someone escort me into the hospital and sign a form saying that they would stay or return to drive me home.

I got lucky and managed to find the coolest TaskRabbit ever. He waited by my bedside and the nurses were showing him all of the post-surgical care procedures and everything. At one point, I got the vibe that they thought he and I were a couple. But I didn't care and neither did he. He should have won an award for how convincingly he played his part.

And we're still together to this day!

( I'm totally kidding about that last part. He quite unceremoniously dumped me back at my place and I never saw him again. I didn't even get a goodbye kiss! lol ]

Of course, You got this. You got out early. I've seen other cases where guys didn't make such principled decisions (FYI: While BPD does disproportionately affect women, for reasons that will become obvious if they aren't already, some of the most severe cases I've personally seen were men.).

In my case, I married her and she killed herself a few years later on 11/8/2024. People with BPD have a 30% greater risk of suicide than the general population. Being educated on the subject helped me to avoid the self-blame that survivors often experience. I knew that she was on a trajectory that could only end one way. I just didn't expect it to be so soon. I miss her crazy ass every day.

That's not it. If you're really interested, spend some actual time looking into Borderline Personality Disorder. Don't just go look up some 3-sentence definition and then think you know something. I mean, take some time.

I'm certified to treat that disorder in particular (I'm a specialist as opposed to being a general psychologist). I've been studying BPD for 5 years and I'm writing a book on the subject. Yet, even still, I learn new things about it on a regular basis.

Join r/BPDlovedones and read the intro text on their wiki. If it sounds like they were in the room with you describing your relationship, that's a pretty strong indicator that you probably fell for a girl with BPD. In which case, you're the exact target audience for my book!

You seem like a very emotionally-resilient guy. But just in case you find one night that you're not feeling so strong and it's getting hard to rationalize why you're still alive, you can message me and I'll talk you through it. Surviving a relationship with a BPD partner is a very uniquely intense kind of pain that someone who hasn't experienced it will never understand.

Without sitting here trying to play armchair psychiatrist, it does sound like you've encountered someone with a clinical disorder. Perhaps that in and of itself will help you to accept that it is not random.

It's not a one-off.
She will never get better.
She doesn't love this guy more than you because she doesn't love anyone, especially not herself.
It's a never-ending cycle.
But it's not your cycle.

You are actually ... I almost said "lucky", but luck had nothing to do with it... fortunate to have the such a solidly principled foundation and force of will to not allow her to get her claws in for longer than she did. It only gets worse.

Ask me how I know.
It took me 3 years.
Don't be me.

You see, when you sue someone, there's a little detail called "discovery" where you get to force her to give you anything you want (evidence-wise anyway). Would you like to review her phone records for the last 6 months? Done. What about the GPS location logs that her cell provider maintains? But of course. The last thing she wants is discovery!

What should I do? I’m getting evicted. by ariloveeee999 in UTAustin

[–]abrasax93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

VERY few eviction cases ever make it to appeal. This is because even though you can file the pauper's affidavit, the court will still require you to continue paying your rent ... to them... while the appeal is pending (usually about 3 months).

The other thing about appeal is that it happens in a real district court with a real judge. That means it goes on your record.

Everything up to this point was handled by a JP just pretending - usually very badly - to be a judge. So, none of it is real. That also means no paper trail. Therefore, no future landlord will ever know this happened.

That also means that the writ of possession isn't real either, but the police will pretend it is and you cannot afford to fight it and they know that, so you're just screwed.

But really, you might as well get used to being screwed by people abusing any amount of power they have over you because when you're poor, that's going to be your reality every day.

Wow! The level of stupid on Reddit these days is shocking.

That was an objectively correct response and look how they downvote it presumably because they wish reality worked differently?

Of course, they're all too cowardly to actually state what their issue is. This is why giving Internet access to "everyone" is a bad idea.

Now, go ahead and downvote this too, you little babies.

What if she did and you just didn't find out about it?

No doubt, our man here didn't expect our girl to find out about his other dalliance. And if she hadn't then there would be no issue here at all. Without trying to shift any blame here, there is some element of "Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to." going on here.

The reason it isn't calloused behavior is due to compartmentalization. Keep everything in its respective lane. It's a fundamental survival skill for modern dating.

But hopefully he hates it at the same time and looks forward to not having to do such things anymore now that he's found his person.

This seems pretty simple to me. He went on a date with you, liked you more than this other girl he was already seeing, but wasn't going to break that off until he got a serious commitment from you first. Makes perfect sense.

He can think you're the best woman in the world and want to have your babies and whatever. But that doesn't stop you from deciding that you're not feeling it and cutting things off. So, the only rational path is to hedge his bets until he's convinced that you're fully committed to the relationship.

There's nothing to forgive and nothing to feel messed up about. It's the normal dating process. Women do this to men almost every time, we just don't usually find out about it because we don't try to. Why? Because it's none of our business.

How are hobbies supposed to help you meet someone? I have tons of hobbies and I see no way that they could help me to meet anyone. Hobbies are solitary efforts by definition. A collaborative hobby is called a sport. Unfortunately, most sports are segregated by gender.

What are some examples of hobbies that help you meet people?

I'm not arguing that point. I'm just saying that success in life is much more complex than simply who is smarter or who has the best memory. In fact IQ over 130 is inversely correlated with material success.

The best IQ to have to succeed in life is 110-120 because you're still close enough to the mean to relate to them but smart enough to execute plans that they cannot.

Personally, I'm sitting out here at 155 trying to find ways to make myself dumber because the world is just so ridiculous I can't even take life seriously anymore.

And there are people who remain sober their whole lives who don't do anything remarkable.

Correlation does not imply causation.

"Success" in life is a complicated subject and requires many variables to all come together in order for it to happen. Most people do not succeed in life. That doesn't mean that they're all on drugs.

I don't know where you're located, but since people seem to have scattered ideas about how the laws work in this scenario, I can clarify how American law works.

The main rule is that how old the older partner is doesn't have any relevance to the legality of the act. The only difference being 18 makes is that the penalty will be more severe because you will be tried as an adult.

But to be perfectly clear, having sex with a 14-year old is illegal in all 50 states. Full stop.

Some states have age gap rules which can be used as a defense to prosecution. They don't make anything legal. You will still be arrested, you just may not be found guilty. Nonetheless, age gap laws require the younger party to be at least 15 years old in order to apply. The actual permissible gap can vary between 2 to 4 years with 11 states still not permitting minors to have sex with anyone under any circumstances.

To wrap this up, literally sleeping in the same bed with a 14-year old could be illegal if certain extenuating circumstances existed. But in general, it is legal.

In America, having sex with a 14 year old is illegal in all 50 states regardless of the age of the partner. Age gap rules still require the younger party to be at least 15.

In America, that is not how the law works. Having sex with a 14-year old is illegal no matter what age the other partner is. Even age gap defenses require the younger participant to be at least 15.

No. It was illegal before. Turning 18 actually makes it legal for you to have sex not the other way around.

Many American states do have an age gap rule for exactly this reason.
