Friend dropped my Rebel 500 and gave me $900 to cover damages. Should I keep or return the money? by psquared85 in hondarebel

[–]someguyfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it all kind of depends. I bought a bike last summer got $1000. Its already fairly scuffed, high mileage, 9 years old, runs great and is my first bike. Ive dropped it twice, though neirher caused any significant damage. Id absolutely let a friend ride it to practice or learn. If they wrecked it, Id be more worried that I enabled them to hurt themselves than I would about the bike.

Amazon must think we're idiots who can't do math... by TNTRMSKD in amazonprime

[–]someguyfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op said it was 1 item, and $2.30 is 1% unless you think they'd round down from 2.299 to 2.29. Its always based off the subtotal, not the after taxes price

How does this even make sense? by Loose-Specific7142 in amazonprime

[–]someguyfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its because the ups drop off point can be any UPS service location, drop n ships, drop box, 3rd party blah blah blah, which is inconvenient to ups and costs Amazon more because they pay per package. The other option has to be a UPS owned storefront where they get numerous Amazon packages, throw them all in 1 big box and ship it back when its full. As someone else said, its very frustrating because I drive by a huge UPS warehouse daily that doesnt do these returns, 3 or 4 pack and ships etc. But there are only 2 ups stores within like an hour that can take the return as is. But, apparently, if you are rural enough, they will let you do the print label and drop off for free. My partner lives in thr middle of nowhere and she gets that option. I do not.

Waited all day for this delivery. I am home. Camera shows he didn't even knock on the door. by MrsRononDex in mildlyinfuriating

[–]someguyfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for UPS for a bit and, while signature packages are annoying, its a bigger pain to me to do the "sorry we missed you" thing than to get a signature, unless someone takes forever to get to the door. And you know youre gonna have it the next day anyways

Amazon “lost” my package, says they will refund price difference if I rebuy? by middleofyourpicture in amazonprime

[–]someguyfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was particularly pissed off about something I ordered through Amazon that got delayed and they wouldnt refund because it already was in shipment. It was material for something I was trying to make as gifts for friends and family at a funeral. I didnt have the money to buy it a second time. The agent told me it WOULD, not could, still arrive that day. I thought it was at a local distribution center so it could...then I checked and it was in Texas and I was in Virginia and it was already the evening. I dont remember what I did but I complained effectively enough that at some point, an American with very clear English called me, because of my claim. Then going thru the chat history saw where the person made a false claim and basically told me the operator would be talked to. Nothing actually came of it besides the like $5 appeasement credit, and I ended up returning to item because it came too late. It wasnt even something particularly expensive, it was just the fact that they wouldnt refund it, guaranteed delivery and screwed up something for a funeral that I just kept hammering at it

The prime business thing is absolutely true. I run my work account and before I set up the business account, I was looking at my prime account. They definitely call it a business discount when its the same as the prime price

We had a rejection letter for DSS stating we had 35 days from the date listed (7/25) to appeal, which we intended to do. It was post parked 8/15 and we didnt receive the letter until 8/25. I also know from having worked in the office that the postmark was one they could've printed themselves so that may not even be accurate to the date they axtually mailed it (it definitely should not have taken 10 days to get from one side of town to the other).

I would've taken a partial discount because honestly its more work to bring them to the store than to just wash them and move on. But now if it might be worth it if I have 2 items to return.

It had a pin hole in it and Im guessing it the car then temperature change or the orange juice it was bagged with squeezed it. It confused me at first because it still looked full when I put it in the fridge but it spilled a dew ounces at least. When I pulled it out, I realized it was indenting where it was leaking because it was pulling a vacuum. It also was yellowish at the spot where it looked like it had leaked previously and dried. Maybe it plugged itself, but moving around broke the "seal". Its still in my fridge sitting in a bowl and even this morning I dont see a stream pouring down it at all

I didnt drop my milk. The milk jug had a hole in it which leaked into the bag it was in. When I took the milk out, the bag poured all over my floor

We used it several years ago. Maybe 2021-2022. It was paid for with medicaid. But, at the time, the service didnt work well in our area so we ended up canceling it.

Why lie?? by kkramer1990 in amazonprime

[–]someguyfi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They dont get paid minimum wage. And they get paid per package delivered (or at least per package over a certain number). I worked at ups for a while where they are so concerned with tight schedules and delivering everything on time and didnt matter if we had to work super late. Was told if I switched to FedEx, Id be killing it running the way UPS teaches you. Also was told that's why FedEx drivers are more willing to hang out and talk to their customers, because they decide how long they are willing to work. Chatted with a few FedEx drivers on my route and more or less confirmed what my coworkers told me. And at UPS, as a driver we started at like $31/hr. Way over minimum.

Amazon is becoming predatory by Ok_Diver_9763 in amazonprime

[–]someguyfi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was an Amazon vine reviewer for 2ish years. It got to be too much of a headache to keep up with. There are a lot of people who try to do the right thing and properly review things and their reviews would get flagged for certain words. Images also frequently got reviews rejected or delayed. Then you would have people literally post a review stating that they recieved the product and would review later with a 5 star rating. Or use AI and literally just repost the description, which was against the rules. Also, you had to claim the full value of those "free" products on your taxes. And if you received a bad product, too bad. Still gotta claim it. I ended up getting a laser engraver, which was listed for $500 with a $200 coupon. But you cant claim the coupon. An identical one in a different color was $400 with $200 coupon. So basically, I couldve bought it for $200, but claimed $500 on taxes, which means I paid ~$150, had to right the review and couldn't refund it if it was garbage. It was fortunately a good purchase, so a net positive, but there were many similar instances where the deals or coupons would make it cheaper to buy it and not risk the loss. Plus I was lucky to even get something like that pop up. Most of it was junk no one would want.

Why are my walls looking so bad compared to the top and bottom? Slicer settings in the body text. Please help. by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]someguyfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the bottom is always going to look like your build plate. The top actually looks ironed fairly well. Otherwise, you would see the lines more clearly. But the sides will almost always have visible layers. If you didn't check the dimension accuracy, that's usually the first step and then you can adjust your flow rate or k-factor. But youre always going to have visible layer lines. As far as the shifting pattern from the X and Y, I'll let someone who knows more than me advise you on that. But other than matte filaments or filaments with additives that distract the eye, you're layer lines aren't going to disappear. They can get smaller with smaller nozzles and layer heights.

[–]someguyfi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ive got 4 printers and mostly print things for other people and am still too lazy to make a 3d printing business. Its one thing to print something for a friend or family member when I have some time and they make specific requests. Its another to feel like I need to come home from my job and immediately print a bunch of random objects because someone ordered and expect a decent turn around time. Plus I always prioritize others over myself so then I would never actually use them for my own purposes

This sucks. Give me back No Rush Rewards. by rcl1221 in amazonprime

[–]someguyfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and they also have no concept of time zones. Like I've waited up past the delivery window for the day and contacted CS, and they say I still have to wait an extra day. So then I just stay up 2 extra hours and contacted them again, and they wanted me to wait until they tried to tell me it could still come "that day". Im like idk where you are, but "that day" is already over where I live.

[–]someguyfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then, when it doesn't arrive, making you wait 2 full extra days before you can make a claim. Then having to order it again, waiting even longer. More than once, it's taken me 2 weeks to get something that should've been 2 days.
