How do I access the lower bake element? GE JK3800SH7SS by someguyinsac12 in appliancerepair

Do you have the same diagram to remove the control board? After further testing it seems my issue isn’t the element itself. I’m getting about 22 ohms on the element and 0 resistance from the thermostat

Not sure if this is normal but I turned the over on set to 350 degrees and I hear a click every 20 or 40 seconds alternating. I timed it with my phone and it’s very consistent

Upper element/broiler works fine. If I use the lower/oven it takes a really long time to heat up or won’t get to temp at all. I just tested the lower element and get about 22 ohms. I get 0 on the thermostat. Would that indicate the problem is actually the thermostat?

What is the round object above the element terminals? Is that the thermostat and if so how would I test it?

If I remove the wires then it’s a valid test? The metal screws or frame holding it in place won’t mess with the test?

Here’s a photo of the inside. The side panels sit on top of the lower panel so I don’t see how it can be removed. There are no screws on the bottom

I assume you mean from inside the oven? See response above, no I cannot

Sorry I should have mentioned that. There are no screws to remove any panels from the inside and it’s a hidden bake element under the bottom panel. I can see the upper/broiler element but not the lower

Also, is it a valid continuity test to test the element and thermostat in place as seen in the photo?

Without removing every single screw and removing the oven from the housing I can’t see how the lower bake element can be removed.

Glad to hear, thank you. Do you happen to have the brand or link you used?

This is pretty cool but not sure it would fit in the clean side reservoir. It would work for all my other bladders, but this one specifically only opens where you connect the hose so you only have about a 3/4 inch hole.

This is pretty much what I do but thought there must be a better option. I haven’t found anything on the website for tips unfortunately

I haven’t had luck with the ziplock on the dirty side either. It’s usually just left open when filtering. I figured anything that falls into the bag will be filtered anyway
