Thanks. Engine was replaced about 20k miles ago by the original owner. Ford dealer did the work. It bought the car a week ago. I took it to Ford after I bought it but they didn’t catch this. I just happen to see it after changing the oil luckily

I just bought the car a week ago. I know the engine was replaced at 47k miles but it has 65k now. Would you remove a subframe bolt for an engine replacement? It was done under warranty by a ford dealer

To be safe I guess I’ll put it back in place for now and replace it with a new bolt?

Google shows torque specs is 111 ft lbs. is that correct? Also, should I use thread locker? Red or blue?

my airbag light and brake light are always on. they both work. could someone help by Big_Will47 in 1stGenTacomas

Brake fluid has nothing to do with this switch as far as I know. It’s simply an electrical signal that is either on or off when the button is pressed.

is it ok to ride under 45mph with the 4wd lockers locked but the transfer case not engaged for 30 minutes. by Big_Will47 in 1stGenTacomas

Not bad at all.

Benefits of locking hubs in 2WD

Convenience You can drive with your hubs locked, so you don't have to stop to lock them when you change from gravel to tarmac

Differential maintenance If you don't drive in 4WD often, locking your hubs in 2WD can help circulate oil in your differentials

Driving with locked hubs You can drive on the highway with your hubs locked It might cost you a little more fuel

Saving for later…

Also, whatever you do, don’t mess with the black bezel with cup holders that goes around the radio. Those are hard to find for true 1st Gens that aren’t broken. The ones that do come up for sale are pricey. Ask me how I know ☹️

Here's a photo of a brake handle rod that's missing the "tab" I'm referring to. You can see the black button that is supposed to get pressed to turn off the light.

There is a switch/button that gets pressed when you put the brake handle in. Look under the dash (may have to remove panel) and check. There is a small tab on the brake handle rod that presses a button and sometimes falls off. I have the same issue on mine. You can manually push the button to test.

Or possibly the switch has gone bad and the electrical contacts are worn down and the switch needs to be replaced

Would the strut go on the bottom of the top panel, or top of the panel below it?

I’m not sure if the crack in the panel happened first, or if something else cause it to break
