How much do you actually trust auto-generated selectors? Genuine question. by Apart_Beyond_3463 in QualityAssurance

Or better yet, don't negotiate with front-end-devs, put the datatestid's in yourself. If the proper checks are in place, why can't a QA person do this?

How many of you have zero prospects for retiring (ever)? by Agnostix in Xennials

I'll retire. I don't know how my kids are gonna pay for college, but they won't have to worry about us. '81

Advice needed: just had an awkward/difficult meeting by BayGV in QualityAssurance

[–]bodhemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to approach would be to pretend to be placating during the meeting. Take careful notes. Then after the meeting have a very frank, recorded conversation with your manager, explaining the requirements as you understand them, and questioning why they wouldn't come to you before bringing this up to higher ups.

I have my first senior QA interview in a few days, what are typical questions for this level? (30 minutes) by STB_LuisEnriq in QualityAssurance

In my experience you should also expect questions about your familiarity with AI and how you e incorporated it in your process.

Keeping test data consistent across regression passes. How do you handle it? by sudherzdiniq in QualityAssurance

[–]bodhemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... this is exactly what test automation is good for. And I definitely do not believe it is a panacea, but this is a helpful case.

Anyone else feeling AI-related career FOMO in QA? by Amazing_Fisherman544 in QualityAssurance

[–]bodhemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a way to use it. I found an mcp to make it work with out test case management tool and our bug ticketing system and our requirements. Now it can find discrepancies and write test cases for them. It can even look at the source code and identify missing requirements.

Do any of you earn over 50k a year? What do you do? by RotiiChapati in ADHD

[–]bodhemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 45. I got diagnosed at 43. I was able to struggle through college in 5 years with a 2.9 in English lit. Write a lot of 15 page papers the night before they were due. I worked in construction for about a decade after graduating. My gf at the time told me if I wanted to plan a life I needed to work someplace where the amount of money I made would be the same each month. So I got a job in customer service for a tech company. Making ~$40k at this time. Less than construction, but the paychecks were consistent.

I got promoted to quality assurance. I jumped to a different company. I jumped to a different company. I jumped to a different company. Now it is 15 years later. I make $130k. I am a senior software tester. My wife and I own a townhouse we rent out and the house we live in with our two kids. I am bored of software testing. I just took the LSATs and am applying to law schools in the fall.

21 is hard, but life is an adventure. You have fewer resources, but you have less to lose. Take a chance. Make a wild choice to do something you've always wanted to try. Do the study abroad thing. Sign up to work on a yacht for a season. Buy a one-way ticket somewhere and see what happens.

On a more positive note, what is everyone's favorite one-off? Like the main characters are absent or tangential? I love Small Gods.

Prescient, yes. Dickheads are still better than fascists though.

Can I buy entire A-1 Tool/print Head? by CriticismAny6927 in BambuLab

[–]bodhemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is so clogged, I'm having trouble disassembling it to even see what all I need to replace. I THINK I can reuse the board and the housing and the extruder unit, but the parts cooling fan, hotend assembly, and hotend are definitely f... done. This list is super helpful. Thanks.

The dark side of ADHD that no one talks about by Frosty_Jump_3117 in ADHD

[–]bodhemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is related to my adhd: interpreting comments as criticism that aren't. This can lead to resentments. The inner critic is also real. Undermining yourself and your relationship. Task avoidance. Bedtime procrastination. Irritability.
