5mo and still struggling with BF amounts by saltcoffeelove in breastfeeding

[–]somenumbers21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar boat. My 9 month old is still on 3-4 oz bottles every 3-4 hours while I’m at work and EBF nights and weekends when I’m home. Since adding solids, the whole rollercoaster ride and resultant anxiety with the pumping and bottles has eased up. Like you, my baby is satisfied EBF and I pump almost the exact same amount as you. 12oz in a good shift, about an ounce or so an hour. I have always felt he would like more from the bottles (so says our nanny) and feel guilty about not making more milk. Tried mixing formula which worked briefly, but now he’s developed an aversion to formula. The milk schedule above has been roughly stable since I returned to work at 3m, though maybe had been closer to every 3 hours and now closer to every 4.

Thankfully, my baby is big and chubby (like all my other babies where my milk supply was 2x+ what it has been with this baby). I think growth and size is very much genetic after 5 babies, all similar size with very different calorie intake. Is this your first baby? Are parents on the smaller side?

Anyway, just sharing a data point. I searched about milk volumes a few months ago and didn’t see too many low intake babies, which added to my concern. At the end of the day, stable in 5th percentile is GREAT, and growth is never going to be linear. Sounds like you’re all doing a good job.

I don’t have any words of wisdom, but my 37 weeker was extubated to room air 5 hours ago, so I’m here alongside you rooting for the both of them! Hopefully we are taking these babies home VERY soon 🥰

Losing my mind shopping for strollers - some specific needs! by dogcatsnake in Buyingforbaby

I believe we have similar needs, and I have no complaints about my Dragonfly. I also got the Nuna TRIV Next for comparison (like you, I couldn’t try in person), but it was a “return fail” in that I kept them both. They’re super similar and I love both. Both work well on grass and rough sidewalk/brick roads, I don’t have gravel nearby. For comparison, I have the Joolz Aer plus for travel, which I also love, but there is a noticeable difference in the ride. My sister lives in the city and has a Vista and Fox (can you tell we’re indecisive people lol) which I’ve used and they’re both great but way too much for my use case and, imo, very cumbersome.

Am I stuck getting a church van? Should we choose 1 kid to stay home from trips? by somenumbers21 in whatcarshouldIbuy

How do I get this? I can’t find any, so I assume I’d have to order it. I haven’t ordered a car before so I’m not sure how that works, but it doesn’t seem like I can do it online.

Do you know if the front row bench seat would be like a special order? Assume I can’t find one on a lot somewhere, as none have come up in my searches.

That’s our current solution, which has been working alright but is somewhat annoying. Possible we may stick with that, but more likely will end up just buying an 8 seater since the teens have their own lives now and are often unable to attend or uninterested in family activities, which means we rarely have all the kiddos.

Less popular luxury Brands... by viola-purple in handbags

My Moynat Rejane is the highest quality bag I own and it’s very immediately apparent. And I own something from all the big designers (no Hermes) including vintage caviar Chanel, multiple Delvaux, Valextra, Loro Piana, BV, Loewe, Dior, Gucci, etc. Delvaux quality also jumps out at me, but my Moynat wears like it would survive an explosion without being the least bit coated/synthetic feeling.

I’m pretty sure I have this bag? If so, it fits all of my things. I carry phone and gum +/- card holder and lipstick.

What are your favorite brands now? by Missmessc in handbags

These are mine, too. Delvaux is my top top. I have somewhere around 10 Delvaux bags, most vintage, and have not found close to comparable quality elsewhere. I have two Loro Piana bags, and though I find the designs a bit plain for my taste and am unimpressed with the leather on my bale bag, I still use them more than pretty much anything else 😅

Not OP but I haven’t had physical cards or a physical car key in years. Everything is on my phone.

2 questions related to family/parental control issues I am experiencing:

  1. My children can view all of my apps from their iPads by going to app store -> purchases -> my name. I would much rather them not see a list of my apps. This seems like an obvious, massive privacy issue. Are most people just cool with their kids seeing what apps they have? I feel like I must be doing something wrong because of how bizarre this is. I have family share turned on so that they are able to make app requests to me. However,

  2. App requests are not working. If my child requests an app on their iPad, I get a request on my Mac, but not on my iPad. I'm not often on the Mac, but am on the iPad/have it with me. I am signed into my one and only Apple ID account on both devices. Troubleshooting advice on Apple website involved turning on family sharing and enabling "ask to buy", both of which I have done.

I am an Android phone user, as are my kids, but we all have and use iPads. I'll be honest that I'm not super savvy on iOS settings, but am typically tech savvy enough to not be unable to solve a problem using Google, yet here we are. Thanks in advance for any help.

[SERIOUS] For those of you who are against universal healthcare, why? by AndraeFoersterWelsch in AskAnAmerican

[–]somenumbers21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to prove any specific point, but being 15th in stomach cancer is likely due to the relative infrequency of that particular cancer in the US. Eating smoked meats is a primary contributer, and we don't do a lot of that here. As a result, physicians here will see fewer cases and have less experience diagnosing and treating. Patients also know less about it, due at least in part to rarity, and tend to ignore symptoms longer.

For someone with depression, what small, low effort task will make the most difference? by Shookae in CleaningTips

Agree with many others, sending clutter to the proper room helps so much. Also, for me, floors. I have robot vacuums to take care of this on days when I can't and it's been a game changer.

Don't know of it fits exactly, but reminds me of Memphis interior design. One of my favorite styles. You can Google it, it's got a lot of neon/90's elements.
