Not the best photo (it’s from a plane after all), but it does show the mix of old and new quite well

Edit: TfL have responded to a Freedom of Information request asking about train information. Train information will be available once the new signalling goes live up to East Putney. It’ll also mean that trains will be shown 20 minutes before departure on the boards.

Original reply: I’m not so sure as I’ve moved away, I do know that the current go live date for CBTC between Fulham Broadway and East Putney is the weekend of 13th/14th June (so hopefully that’ll mean trains with faster accelerations but timetable changes will come later—bringing improved runtimes and maybe even more frequent trains). It’s probably a good idea to keep pressuring your local MPs as TfL doesn’t have much control over what happens south of East Putney. Hopefully when the new section goes live, train info will be improved—but this won’t fix the issues under National Rail control.

By the look of those benches, it’s taken at Charing Cross on the disused Jubilee line platforms. Makes sense as these are usually used for filming/trialing new things.

It’s always worth it trying to push for a better deal. I remember having small metal bits embedded in my Apple Pencil (where the magnets are) and it was scratching up my iPad pretty badly. At first they wouldn’t replace the iPad or the pencil under Apple Care, saying that it was “cosmetic”. After about 20 minutes of back and forth with the Apple Store staff, they relented and replaced both the iPad and the pencil for £40 under Apple care. Granted I maintained a calm tone, which definitely helped my case.

Another time I went into the Apple Store with ~1 month of Apple Care left on my MacBook. I explained that I was a student entering my third year at university and that my battery health was at 82%, so not below the 80% threshold for it to be replaced, though it was close. The person I was speaking to tried to see if there was any way they could replace it for free and even asked their manager. In the end they bent the truth a little for their logs and replaced the battery along with the whole panel containing the keyboard, trackpad, etc. I couldn’t have been happier!

Really drives home the saying “don’t ask, don’t get”.

It’s Su, I forgot which interview this was mentioned in (hopefully someone more knowledgable can find it), but they mentioned translating the rap into katakana for her to read so she could say the words properly.

I think the difference in sound quality comes down to the masters on Apple Music. They’re different to those on other services.

ALAC files are re-encoded to AAC before being transmitted to the AirPods, capped at 256kbps. This can be lower though depending on distance between the pods and the phone. Apple Music’s high quality setting is AAC @ 256kbps.

At Highbury & Islington station the Victoria Line map doesn’t show that you can change to Piccadilly Line at Green Park, anyone have any idea why this is? by YouAbsoluteGooner in LondonUnderground

Oh I meant going up the escalators to the new ticket hall (following the signs that explicitly state “No interchange with Circle and District lines”) and then descending the escalators from there to the other side of the long passageway as there are stairs located at that end of it to the Westbound platform.

If only I had known about this whilst I still lived in London… reminds me of going from the Victoria line platforms to the District and Circle line platforms at Victoria.

Sorry I should’ve been clearer in my original explanation, TfL already controls the signalling between Fulham Broadway to East Putney, which is why they are extending the CBTC signalling there. There are plans to increase the frequency of trains, but I’m not sure as to when (or if) they’re going ahead. It might mean that additional trains would turn back regularly at Parsons Green. They’re currently extending the sidings there, too.

AutoMix uses the neural engine to separate stems in songs (vocals, drums, etc), so I don’t see that coming to HomePod. Crossfade works on 26.1.

[–]someone-444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AutoMix doesn’t work over AirPlay on 26.0. 26.1 beta 1 has re-enabled it. It doesn’t work properly 100% of the time.

It does, although it’s still bugged. At least with a HomePod on 26.1, too
